Fred franztone
58 years from now? What's this about?
According to David (Ex)Splanes overlapping generation chart, "this generation" can only include anointed ones who overlapp with, for instance, F.W. Franz who died in 1992 ( as one of the longest-lived known anointed ones, he is used as an example).
So to be included in the "generation" they would have to be baptised and anointed *before* Fred Franz's death in 92, making them at that time at least around 15 -20 years old.
Therefore, if we suppose they will live at most 80 -90 years, Waton is estimating the great tribulation cannot occur any later than 2058, give or take 5 years or so.
Edit: so this lot of GB have given themselves some breathing room, and when the max date is reached they will all be dead, so some other poor bastard can deal with the fallout of the failure of the "overlapping generation" teaching.

Resurrection to Heaven
by Lost in the fog inct russell said the dead would be resurrected to heaven from 1874-1881.. then the judge decided that it was not 1874/5 for the return of christ but 1914, so moving the heavenly resurrection forward to be from 1914-1918.. in truth nobody knows when it happens or happened.
just because the watchtower leadership says something in the printed word doesn't mean that it is true.
zion's watchtower 1881, january.

Dubby nor of the fact that he didn't even reply to my query regarding helping to get the word out about my podcast activism,
You are of no use to him, worse, you are the competition. If word got out that you were loaded he would suddenly want you on board to collaborate in some way.
In his defense it's not easy making a living as a writer.

Kleenex Head Covering
by jwundubbed ingrowing up a woman in the cult was pretty bleak.

m PIMO and do next to nothing in the bORG but this literally makes me want to start a bible study so I can take a sister with and have her conduct it with some kind of covering - Just to show outsiders how ridiculous things can be - I wonder if they will want to have another study session after that
Interestingly I've seen plenty of sisters take bible studies in their own home, with husband floating about, and they most definitely do not put on a head covering.
Probably for this reason, as you say it's so ridiculous.

On one of SBF threads about his experiences at other churches, we were talking about the Catholic church, a patriarchy if ever there was one. Yet alter girls out numbered the boys, women did the bible readings and there was even a women " master of ceremonies" of sorts, unsure of the official term.
I mean it is traditional *within the physical church* for women to wear hats and men to take theirs off, but women don't don head coverings when doing religious things per sa ( taking a meeting or bible reading).
So anyway the point I'm coming to is I came to the conclusion that Watchtower is the most sexiest Christian denomination - what does anyone think?
Jwundubbed But I can't seem to get a job above a certain level even though I have the training for it. And when I really think about it a lot of ways in which we were treated as girls and women in the cult start to come up. I don't think I realized how much it all effected me.
,Hear, hear. Without a doubt it's your upbringing and the lack of self belief and confidence it engendered in you.

SBF South Africa lost 58 congregations. That's pretty huge.
Didn't they either loose their branch office or at the very least have hundreds of Bethelites sacked - many lifelong. That's gotta effect morale.

Flat earth vs round earth
by Jrjw inmy brother has been talking about the earth being flat and some big conspiracy going on to make people beieve otherwise.
what are people's thoughts on this?.

Dropoffyourkey...Lee y The flat earthers even have a website. I simply can't tell if it is one big tongue-in-cheek joke or if anyone actually believes it. In either case it is curious that it gets so much attention.
I was shocked ( or maybe not) to see some people posting they believe in a flat earth on a Mike and Kim thread!
The General essence of the you tube post was about not feeling the need to censure other people's beliefs, which I heartily agree with, but then someone posted about the problems they get having flat Earth beliefs ....and a load of others chimed in that too believe this! They gave a scripture as proof ( can't remember off-hand which) and mentioned they have enormous trouble if they express their view on this.
I'm, like, whaaaaaaa?

They had 55 properties in St. Petersburg - but how many, I wonder, were Kingdom or Assembly Halls and how many were solely for the purpose of speculation??

confused Maybe this is a question for Simon or other mods, but I’m uncomfortable with a 12 year old actively posting here..... I work in an environment where we go through child safeguarding training, and this type of social media interaction with a child is troubling..
Absolutely.
no disrespect to Kas12 but please take care, I have two 12 year olds and I wouldn't want them interacting with strange adults online.
Kas, could you and your mam post together? I'm guessing you are from the north of England, from your choice of words.
Do show your mum this board and seek her permission. We would love to have her.

Phoebe, a stunning account of Christmas as a JW child. Very honest and emotionally moving.
Your writing showed me how deeply you felt and how little you asked for and how isolated you were
As desperately sad as those moment's in your childhood sounds, as deeply as I was touched by Giordanos words, I can't help but think it has made for a well-rounded person who know doubt appreciates the simple joy of the little things at ChristmaS...singing a Carol, making some cinnamon hot chocolate for loved ones, the simplest of gifts or well wishes.
Contrast this grateful and humble attitude with kids that are not satisfied with anything but the latest game, trainers, console...they can't be bothered to watch a face light up in joy as you offer them a treat...it's all about them.
Sometimes there are good things to be had from a basic upbringing, not abusive I say, vitally hn one where the child is not the absolute centre of their world. You can get positives from sadness and loss in life.
