Not invited to congregation “get togethers”. They finally said it
by solomon inwe don’t get many invitations to congregational social gatherings.
we don’t attend midweek meetings and miss about 1/3 of sunday meetings.
we go in service at least once a month.

There was an elder on the same street doing the same thing as me and he took three years . His house looked like a frat house with all the people coming and going. He is 60 years old. Stupid.
Although to be honest I'm glad he has a Home for his old age. Remember when he's 70 the org "won't require his services" and, especially if he gets sick and struggles to attend meetings, you'll see fewer and fewer visits.

I don’t know any JW, or anyone else, who thinks that Jesus “made an announcement” that God’s name is Yahweh/Jehovah. This guy says it’s an absurd idea. He’s right, it’s absurd, but who actually thinks it anyway? Pretty bizarre clip.
No he's saying that (I assume) witnesses are Jesus "foot step followers" - yet always say first and foremost they come to make gods name known to people (& it is kind of the first thing you're taught).
Yet he's saying it's ridiculous because everyone knows gods name and always has done.
That's why he makes that absurd analogy...its stupid! If they purport to follow Jesus example, It's therefore stupid for witnesses to do it.

One of the guys that now co-authored the 'expert opinion' in defense of Dutch JW also flew to Japan (all expenses paid) to defend the Aum Shinrikyo cult that killed 13 in the 1995 sarin gas attacks in the Tokyo metro. His 'expert opinion' then was that they could impossibly have done that,
Surely that alone should disqualify his learned opinion!!!
I mean really, what is an "expert opinion"??
If I'm being really honest, as long as you are "niche" enough (Vietnamese lesbian laundry workers uprising of 1978 etc) anyone (with the cash not to work for their period of study) could get a PhD in sociology.
Then...hey, Presto, you are an "expert".

So Watchtower has hired the author of several books on Satanism & self proclaimed 'vampire' society member(!) Vlad...I mean Massimo Introvigne to defend them against a report by two academics recommending the Dutch govt investigate JWs. The report was based on the information provided by reclaimed voices on instances of child sex abuse within the Jehovahs Witnesses.This Italian academic has represented Scientology in the past and is founder of CESNUR which is a society proporting to advocate for small minority religions and 'sects'(cults!) In fact Watchtower planned to take part, with Mormons and moonies, in a conference hosted by this organization - taking the stage with Mormons and obscure Eastern sects - until they pulled out when a US based ExJW group got wind of it and threatened to publicize their hypocrisy.
So Watchtower's doing a Saul and calling up the witch of Endor?!!! First of all the UN now Count Dracula!!
Some wag quipped " Watchtower needs to pick up its TORTURE STAKE and carry it!"

How did/do you address your fellow believers?

) thinking.. nothing screams 'cult' more to me than dubs calling each other brother.. "that was an excellent talk tonight brother anderson".. "brother jones, we really need to go in service together again soon".. is it just me using people's first name.. "hi john how's it going?

youre kidding!! Oh the control is unbelievable now!
Interesting that we did use the ”brother” and ”sister” address on the platform - it’s like we’re performing, it’s not genuine.
I have to say I used first names unless I was talking about someone elderly, then I’d say ‘Sister Anderson”etc (when I was young, just out of respect, really)

Pretty sure Mike and Kim are keeping track. I think we did start a thread somewhere, not sure of the title. It might be useful to have a thread of dissolved Congo’s in “Best of” section? I know they won’t really be best threads but they are the best news LoL.
I wonder if we should have some kind of separate listing for it? Maybe simply “congregation news”?
