They’re such fools those elders. Don’t they realise by strong-arming people, they simply won’t pay....and the elders themselves will end up having to make up the short fall??

Resolution passing with zoom
by jonahstourguide inhi folks.. i put this in practices as i thought that appropriate.
perhaps it should be in scandalous behavior.
not a big deal but an example of the cult-ish intimidation and behavior.. at the end of this mornings short wt review prior to the convention brainwash by jackson, ( melbourne australia) the elder stated "brothers we have a resolution to present to the congregation".

So...what do you think about The United States of America?
by minimus ini know the usa is not perfect.
there have always been social issues and differences.
politics has been for many people divisive.

I find the vast disparity in health outcomes, frankly, terrifying. I think there will be riots in the USA in the not too distant future. I think it’s going to be hard to be young and white in the USA with what I think is on the horizon. The fact they will be attempting to make amends for slavery and Jim Crow, when it’s not their fault, because it’s definitely not seen that way. The fact there are no go areas for certain races and profiles, and that large groups of people think there’s a good chance they will be murdered every time a cop stops them chills my blood.
on the other hand.....
I believe the states has the best educational establishments in the world.
My favorite authors hail from the states. My all time favorite author is Earnest Hemmingway, so....
My favorite musicians. Most of my favourite music: American. Even as a Brit I can say, when it comes to the 20th century, America is a giant, a monolith, in fact, when it comes to almost every genre of music! It was Birthed in the USA.
Much of my favorite dance comes from the states (and I adore dance}.
The standard of living for the average working person is vastly higher than probably anywhere else in the world and the opportunities are immeasurable for the young, energetic and talented!!!
The States has some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the world. And the sheer space....heaven!
The average Americans are some of the friendliest, warmest people I’ve had the good fortune to come across.
Just one thing....er....religion. Cults. Hmmm. Less said the better on that.

It always reminds of something the author Primo Levi said in one of his autobiographical books about his time in auchwitz-Birkenau.
He lost his faith the day of the great “selection” - a fit and healthy young 20 year old lad from Romania had been selected for the gas chambers later that day, along with the sick and elderly. And this lad knew it.
In the cot right next to him swayed an old religious Jew - back and forth - thanking god he had not been selected himself for the gas chamber. God is good, right? Right?!!!!!

I don't get it - Marriage in WT world
by menrov inin wt world, a marriage is only seen (considered) as legal if it is registered in the municipality (or similar governmental organisation).
now, if you look at the scriptures, there was no requirement to have a marriage legally registered in order to be considered married.
is it not strange that the wt subjects themselves to and adopts an worldly arrangement setup but governments rules by satan when it comes to a marital status?.

If that goon had carried on and had his way, pretty sure ALL Jehovah’s Witness weddings in the Brummie area would have ground to a halt without your Dad sticking to his guns .......mind you I bet there’s a few poor sods wish they would have!

menrov ...
It's simply the obey Caesar thing, that's all. What you have to do to get married can vary by country, State, even municipality. But generally there is no conflict with the Bible so you have to follow the rules of your local government.
Actually, Menrov is not the only one to have wondered about this.
It actually doesn’t make sense. The Catholic church, for instance, as with many religions, won’t consider two Catholics married UNLESS they have a religious ceremony.
There is no “obey Caesar” Since Caesar doesn’t require legal marriage.
It’s actually the opposite with watchtower, they will accept marriage at your local town hall even if you have no religious marriage, yet won’t accept a Marriage solemnized at the Kingdom Hall if it is not followed by a registrar witnessed signing of the certificate.....that always puzzled me.
It proves to me it’s all about the image of the organization.
edit: now I’m thinking, it’s probably more about disfellowshipping, shunning, DA and general “not good association - ness”. After all, all this means not everyone associated with watchtower and Jehovah’s witnesses Can marry in a Kingdom Hall so I guess they have to rely on secular marriage.

Was It Designed? (My head hurts)

Waton Wt and others severely underestimate the creator.
Even the natural laws might be the once that are left over from all the others that did not work well in their universes.
I mean you’re right there. Evolution doesn’t at all make the claim there is no creator.

And don't give me that crap about the animal kingdom "changing" since the fall of Adam and Eve.
That’s the thing, Jehovah’s witnesses DO believe in evolution....except they call it “micro evolution” (if they’ve the brains to realise there’s a name for it)😩😩😩
Good Grief.
