Derek Chauvin - The Right to a Fair Trial
by Simon inanyone following the derek chauvin trial?.
if you are actually following it, not just listening to the media, you will likely realize that there is a huge gap between what is going on in court and what is being reported in the media.. if the trial was fair, i think he should be acquitted.
there is plenty of reasonable doubt about the cause of death (his dealer doesn't want to testify because he could be guilty of 3rd degree murder for selling him a fatal amount of fentanyl) and even doubt over whether the officer even had his knee on the guys neck or did anything counter to what they were meant to do as per policy.. but is it fair?

You seem to imagine that illegal drugs are produced with as much care as legal drugs. If what you say were true we wouldn't see a huge spike in overdose deaths from fentanyl.
We're not dealing with a smart person here.
Here's another thought experiment:
You can either have someone kneel on your shoulder for a few minutes.
OR
You can be given a dose of fentanyl 3x over the lethal limit.
Fentanyl is NOT an illegal drug, it can be made in pharmaceutical labs perfectly legally but Floyd was taking it without a legal prescription by a Dr. The spike in deaths was due to the fact that they were selling it and saying it was heroin and people didn't know.
I've known many addicts with very high IQs. It's emotional damage that causes addiction. If the cop just had his knee on the guys shoulder there wouldn't be this court case.
There's no doubt Chauvin's defence will argue that we can't definitively know what killed him.A good lawyer will be able to put enough doubt in a jury's mind after all (and especially considering what he's facing) it's got to be beyond reasonable doubt.

Kind of like " I'm the police officer here, you dont tell me what to do or how to do my job. "
Exactly. Ego took priority over training and the safety of his detainee.
reThatās not good enough in a trained officer. Or was he trained? I read somewhere that American cops in certain states are only given 3 months training. Nowhere near enough time given the level of danger they are regularly put in. Human instinct will kick in, and when that happens no one is safe.
Remember our bodies might be in twenty first century America, but our brains are still out there on the Savannah where it evolved over millions of years. Sapiens have only lived in relatively safe and settled communities for a few thousand years by comparison.

Secondly, an addict usually knows his limits
Redvip2000 Right, cause there are no addicts that die of an overdose.
I did say usually. Yes addicts overdose, of course they do. But if we put alcohol -related stats to one side, itās usually, almost universally in fact, when they use for the first time after having given up for some time.
I donāt believe that is the case with Floyd. He was, however, getting older and that could be the salient fact when it comes to the possibility of his having a cardiac arrest.

This one bible passage proves abortions are wrong and honoring Mary is right
by TTWSYF innwt luke chapt 1.
41 well, as elizabeth heard the greeting of mary, the infant in her womb leaped, and elizabeth was filled with holy spirit 42 and loudly cried out: āblessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruitage of your womb!
43 so how is it that this privilege is mine, to have the mother of my lord come to me?

TTWSYF The example of Jesus calling his mother 'woman' is not derogatory as the WTS would have you believe. Jesus was never disrespectful of or to his mother.
Yes I fully agree. Watchtower doesnāt really listen to their own reasoning sometimes. They hold Jesus up as the moral goalpost in whose footsteps you should walk, yet make assertions such as the one weāre discussing. That Mary was of no special significance to Jesus because he called her āwomanā- thus insulting & rejecting her - because his motherās, brotherās and sisterās were his disciples and whomsoever does the word of God.
Watchtower always has to read the most curmudgeonly and least charitable meaning into everything!! Rather than the kinder, more obvious meaning - in this case that he has many other Mothers, brothers and sisters.

Firstly, did Floyd swallow the fentanyl tablets when he was arrested to avoid being charged for possession?(common occurrence) If so, there was not enough time for the tablets to cause an overdose.....it would take at least 20 or 30 mins to begin to take effect.
Secondly, an addict usually knows his limits. He would be unlikely to swallow an amount he knew would be lethal - arrested or not (itās not worth dying over) - and having three times the ālethalā dose for a NON user is not necessarily going to have the same effect on an addict. Habituation raises the level at which a drug will cause harm to a person.
All these things will be assessed by an expert witness in court*. The initial coroner will not necessarily be such an expert.
And thirdly, should breaking the law, being an addict or passing off fake notes (because you are an addict) be deserving of a death sentence?!
Most cops in this situation get away with it. Unfortunately for Chauvin, he is going to be made to pay for generations of sociopaths within the police service. 2% of the population have sociopathic tendencies. Not all of them act on these tendencies and not all of them are in positions of power - medicine, nursing, policing, the armed forces, social work - where their behaviour negatively impacts members of the public or even puts them in danger, as is the case with Chauvin (unfortunate name, too!)
* I would hope. Itās surprising how poor some lawyers are (as weāve seen with Watchtower court cases. Weāve also seen some amazing legal minds at work too, of course)

What do you think will be different in the Organization after the pandemic is over?
by ExCircuitOverseer inwhether they go back to door-to-door or not, what will be different?
do you think there will be a noticeable drop-off in attendance as we have read on here that many have left or faded?
will there be a mass selling of halls?

I agree because I think an awful lot of PIMOāS and doubters, etc, will have used the pandemic as cover for a fade. Some may also use the old āstumblingā excuse not to return to Jeeehova, too.
Even for believers itās going to be hard to give up the luxury of simply switching on the PC in your slippers twice a week, as opposed to dressing up head to toe, rounding up the kids and traipsing out in the cold
Definite drop off in numbers. This drop may work in watchtowers favour in that theyāll be able to use it as cover/a reasonable excuse for a big drop in their yearly print out of āofficialā numbers (that in truth was happening way before the pandemic started).

JW Online University
by Tim207 ini have a family member who is a remote bethelite and they are working on creating content for online "university" for bethelites to teach them skills that are needed at bethel.
from what i've seen it is a lot of recorded content saved on their sharepoint sites.
i haven't seen any information on this from this site or reddit which i'm more active on.

Very interesting. No I've not heard about this.
I could see it being useful for computer science courses, for sure. Anything connected with digital design or film making perhaps.
I can't see how it would be useful for legal training or accountancy, though, (two things they need in abundance). Or even Realtor or Estate Agency training, since these things require you to be registered with state bodies at the very least.
Thoughts anyone.....?

Actually from the point of view of a believer, yes they are interesting and certainly contradicts watchtower's view of Mary.
On a side note I deeply insulted a Catholic workmate once when I quoted that scripture (oft raised by witnesses) when Jesus says to Mary "woman what have I to do with you?". True enough she had never heard of it - because like all religions The Catholic church also cherry picks.
Nevertheless I destroyed our friendship with that one arrogant and thoughtless sentence.
