JWs don’t use the apocryphal, yet source them
by Anony Mous inso a quick little note about a few things that i recently learned.
if you ever had the yellow book of bible stories, there was the story of enoch, also repeated in other watchtower publications, about the angels fathering giants and being a menace on earth.
now if you look at the nicean bible, which is the wtbts selection of the bible, it mentions enoch twice and only has a very brief passage about nephilim and ben elohim.

Wow very interesting! I do remember on one occasion thinking the watchtower referred to an apocryphal source - I think it was Enoch because of course the Bible itself mentions the book of Enoch. I remember being surprised but you're right it hasn't really become a talking point. Good find.

That's another piece of weirdery. Why Jehovah God, not God Jehovah. That's not regular English. I think it's a hangover of them all being descended from krauts. I wouldn't say my Andrew husband, I'd say my husband Andrew etc It's title then name🙄

The charity I have been supporting is Baptist Slavic Mission. They have planted nearly 100 small congregation-led churches there since the 1970's. We built additions to three homes of pastors so that they could take in 10 orphans each so that they could have a shot at a normal family and have children themselves one day and raise them with love.
I know its not much....but it is something.
No Sea Breeze this is NOT not much....it's everything to those kids....their very lives. I was in care for a while as a kid when my Dad went into a psychiatric hospital. I was groomed and the home has long been closed down for child abuse (amongst other awful things they did) so my blood ran cold when you described the kids being 'discharged' at 15 with 150 quid - alone and vulnerable and going into prostitution to survive.
This is incredible work you do. I can't tell you how grateful I am to people like you who care because there's no one more vulnerable and unprotected than a care kid😥 -

SBF And Kim Silvio should be praised for speaking out. But overall Mark’s statement is good.
I don’t like the statement from Ortez at all. I don’t care how many hours he has put into the documentary. If he truly puts victims first then he should state categorically that Lloyd will play no part in it. He asks for time to work out the “details”, but excluding Lloyd from the project is not a “detail”.
Agree 100%. Mark should have mentioned support for Kim especially as she's feeling pretty low right now. She's probably copping hell from The Devotees and being right still doesn't make what she did easy.
Ortez re tweeted Mark O'Donnell's statement - which is a bit nauseating because it means he's basically hedging his bets. What a creep. This isn't about standing by your mates. He can stand by him privately & be a friend, while at the same time addressing the fact that Lloyd should no longer be advocating for victims of CSA & rape, statutory or otherwise, and definitely should not be interviewing them. At least untill he gets therapy and educates himself about the Thai situation. There are 800,000 child prostitutes out of a total of nearly 2 million. That's almost HALF OF THEM.
Ortez simply has his eye on the main chance imho.

Do you know the name of the young girl involved? Was she a JW? If he was from your congregation did you know about all this when he left?

I think it says a lot that following radio silence from Mark on Twitter, Lloyd unfollowed him. He is so narcissistic he cannot understand that he's put mark in an impossible position and that Marks priority has to be the women & kids he advocates for.
This could have been Lloyds moment to build bridges. To say he understands how these CSA victims & their families feel and that he's going to A) educate himself around "sex work" and its cost to the women who engage in it and B) that he's going to get some couples councilling & around porn addiction etc (lord knows he has the money).
He could have come back even stronger.
Actually people were surprised Mark was a volunteer and didn't get paid. The only person Lloyd has ever given money to is his professional video editor. One you tuber tweeted he's lost patreon money because he wouldn't come out in support of Lloyd. They have literally replaced eight leaders who must not be questioned with one. Its bizarre for those of us who know him of old.

Public Statement of Mark O’Donnell
It has come to my attention that on Monday, January 30th, 2022, a Reddit statement by resigned JW Watch operations director Kim Silvio was posted concerning the activities and conduct of JW Watch / JW Survey founder, Lloyd Evans.
Following that statement, a monetized video was released by Lloyd Evans in which he addressed some of the claims made by Ms. Silvio, who described a private conversation she had with Mr. Evans and one additional person. The Livestream video was replete with expletives and references to alleged sexual contact with prostitutes.
Evans declared in strong language that his infidelities were not the business of his patrons or the public, stating that how he used donated and other funds is beyond scrutiny.
I strongly denounce the use of any finances for purposes that create a notable conflict of interest for any reporter covering the sensitive topic of child sexual abuse.
In my opinion, the links between sex work and the grooming of children, child abuse, violent crime, drugs, and other unlawful activities call into question the credibility of anyone reporting on the subject of child abuse. While it is not my business to judge the personal lives of other reporters, I must take on board the feelings and sensitivities of the general public, including those affected by these activities.
As a reporter and consultant for child sexual abuse cases in the United States and worldwide, I am obligated to adhere to a reasonable code of conduct that mirrors the gravity and substance of this subject matter. I am also sensitive to the feelings of survivors of abuse who trust my integrity and work. Many of those survivors have conservative values and ethics, and I respect their positions.
Most news organizations have a code of ethics for reporting and for the conduct of journalists themselves.
For example, National Public Radio (NPR) recognizes the importance of giving weight to the scruples of its patrons by reminding the public that perception does influence credibility, and that reporters have limitations.
“To secure the public's trust, we must make it clear that our primary allegiance is to the public. Any personal or professional interests that conflict with that allegiance, whether in appearance or in reality, risk compromising our credibility”
“We enjoy the right to robust personal lives, yet we accept some unique professional obligations and limitations. Because our words and actions can damage the public's opinion of NPR, we comport ourselves in ways that honor our professional impartiality.” - NPR
As a result of Mr. Evans’statements, I have resigned from affiliation with Lloyd Evans and JW Watch, effective February 1st, 2022. I will always be thankful for the information I have shared on Lloyd’s website and channel, and I know that those who follow my work respect the long hours and resources I have personally devoted to this endeavor. My work remains unchanged.
A few facts for clarification:
● Neither myself nor my wife Kimberly O’Donnell had any knowledge of these issues until January 30th, when this was made public by Ms. Kim Silvio.
● Ms. Silvio released information ahead of her statement to persons not associated with JW Watch, and without the knowledge or consent of Lloyd Evans or his wife.
● Ms. Evans had no knowledge or advance notice of the public statement of Ms. Kim Silvio.
● I was not funded or employed by Mr. Evans, JW Survey, or JW Watch. My work has been supported by my own personal savings.
● Aside from my resignation, I have had no personal communication with Lloyd Evans for several months, and I have received no apology related to his conduct and its impact on those connected with JW Watch or the general public.
● I have had absolutely no contact with Kim Silvio or “producer Bob” in any matters related to this issue, either directly or indirectly.
● Certain additional allegations against Mr. Evans have surfaced since January 30th that are false and uncorroborated, and have caused great distress to Mr. Evans’ immediate family. I condemn any claims that were made with malicious or slanderous intent and without substantiation.
