Judge RF I think that if you turn into any mainstream religion whether watchtower want to admit they are or not, you are owned by the government. Being a religion means you are automatically tax exempt. Yet the governments offer tax exempt form that you are not required to fill out. By filling out and returning these forms, you bind yourself to government restrictions and regulations on how to run your religion. Watchtower for years even through part of the N.H Knorr era, refused to be called a religion (see the 1943 watchtower article "eve religions first victim").

I couldn't agree more. We know the only real way to get Watchtower to tow the line is to threaten them with removal of their tax breaks/exemptions. We saw this in Australia with the redress scheme.

I presumed 'friends' and even 'the meetings' came from local Pennsylvania faiths such as Quaker's.

You're not alone.

It's sooooo annoying when exjws say "friends". If you're a Christian say Brothers and sisters. I have no issue with that, it's literally part of your faith.

But "friends"? The Watchtower seemed to change to friends some time back. The GB rarely use brothers and almost never sisters. Why? Because most of you are NOT their "brothers", of course. And even if a woman is part of the 144000 there's no such thing as "sisters" to them. So maybe Rutherford was right, women do change in to men in heaven!

Vintage This part is very "off topic",... but if not now, then when? Las Malvinas son Argentinas, every time I see your name, I'm transported to 1982. I was living in South America.

When I read the name Malvinas son Argentinas I'm transported to an alcoholic, homeless, ex British army sergeant with PTSD. He told me about finding the dead bodies of Argentinian kids (soldiers but he put their ages at 14 -16) in a ditch. His corporal had purposely disobeyed his instructions and thrown grenades in the ditch, killing them. He was a mess and felt wracked with guilt about the whole 'war'.

Your thinking is very flawed and two dimensional. First off countries with more gun control are not safe. But with a 68 million populace, UK has a scary number of Stabbing. Would you believe 44,000 knife attacks in 2019. While knifes attacks only account for 6% of UK crimes attacks. While bats (hitting with a blunt object) or glass bottle account for another 6% so that another 44,000 attacks

The difference is knife crime accounts for a very narrow demographic. It is overwhelmingly perpetrated by, and on, very young black males from inner London council estates. It simply doesn't effect other demographics and other areas whatsoever.

London is no more 'shit hole' than anywhere else and in fact has been very much gentrified over the last few decades.

I used to think America sounded wonderful and dreamed of traveling around particularly the great lakes and your national parks but now I wouldn't live there if you paid me. I'm not being unpleasant, it genuinely terrifies me. Remember you also have had bombing and death by motor attacks. It's true we had Dunblane a horrific attack on a school by a mentally ill boy, too, when I was a kid but what's happening in the states is beyond the pale. The thought my.kids could be unsafe at school would terrify me.

What Simon says is true you guys need to spend some of those millions sent to Ukraine on school security and I'm afraid the time has come for armed guards.

I can guarantee he was schizophrenic or developing schizophrenia. For boys it's around 18/19 for girls a bit younger (think Joan of Arc).

Emily Nobody who's actually contemplating suicide says that other people have made them suicidal, or that if other people don't change their behaviour and do what they want then they'll kill themselves. They don't threaten it or use it to shame other people. He's harming genuine sufferers by doing that, because now people will associate a suicidal person seeking treatment with this narcissistic abuse tactic, and depressed people who already second-guess ourselves will think "am I being like that if I ask for help?

I'll second that. People who feel suicidal will usually keep it really close to their chest. So much so that it can be a real shock when it happens. Some people go to extraordinary lengths to mask how they're feeling so as not to worry anyone. I lost a friend in 2016 and it shook me to my core I didn't see it coming. I should have.... divorce, Job losses😔. Even when you can clearly see they are depressed what will often prevent them from voicing it will be the effect it will have on others. (In fact the only people I've seen regularly voice it were people with certain serious mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia).I briefly worked in an emergency in-patient psych unit and I never heard anyone suicidal blame another. If anything they are usually horribly hard on themselves.

The problem is that people don't voice it. We should always encourage people to talk about it.

Emily I'm so sorry to hear how you've suffered. Thank you for your insight.
