Do we blame the Governing Body too much?

i'd like to start this post with a part from the movie 'v for vendetta'.

here in a dystopian state, the main character named v, explains why things have gone so bad ....

those who do not want us to speak.

An excellent question. Id say yes. We do blame them too much. Its convenient, isn't it? How many of us cheerfully accepted the idea that billions of innocent people (either through youth or not having ever been informed of watchtower) were going to be unfairly murdered so that we could have our "happy ever after"? Not all of us were comfortable with it - which is why many of us are here - but millions clearly are and thats a pretty awful thought, isnt it?

i want to take a moment to salute rick fearon, an "apostate" near boston massachusetts usa who more than 17 years ago started the sixscreens telenetwork on youtube.

Efrain Rivera is a wonderful man. Thoroughly enjoyed this interview.with Barb.

As someone mentioned Rick doesn't fleece new leavers of their cash. He's considerate to new leavers. I've actually had little run-ins with Rick (you can probably guess on what topic), but he's a good hearted man and no one can doubt his commitment to helping cult victims.

Edit: I also heard your interview Nathan, I was very touched by it.

Let me just get this straight because my tops about to blow... Mark O'Donnel - a (male) sports equipment salesman - is offered a 'set appearance fee' for his commentary on legal cases, but Kim Silvio - a (female) qualified lawyer - is not ??

Either Lloyd Evans is lying or he is an advantage-taking-misogynist of the worst kind. Either option is highly likely.

Edit: So ironic that the conversation would have often turned around the misogyny of Watchtower Eg not allowing Sisters to participate in CSA judicial hearings, particularly when minors or young women were being questioned.

Exactly. When there is a "protected class" - be it governing body, priests, those belonging to given ethnic, political or religious groups, trans women, royal people, beloved musicians or comedians - we know real problems ensue. For Lloyd, being an 'EXJW personality' means you should be given immunity from criticism, or it's 'hate' or 'defamation'🙄

Do we know for a fact that he does pay people for interviews?

100%. Professional academics such as Dr. Richard Carrier and Dr. Bart Erhman absolutely demand an appearance fee for interviews.

I know because I've helped raise money to get them for other channels. It's possible lesser known academics may not charge if they're promoting a book or something, though it's doubtful. It's how many of them make a living.

Come on people, comparing photos of people in their late teens and early twenties, to almost fifty, barely anyone is going to come out looking too good in that comparison.
