  Was Anyone Ever Disfellowshipped For Having a Beard?

  i read a comment somewhere that having a beard ( before such was allowed) was never a disfellowshippable offence.

  but does that mean that no-one who grew a beard was ever eventually disfellowshipped?.

  growing a beard when such was frowned upon would surely attract the attention of those with nothing better to do, and possibly lead to sniffing around to try and find things that the "disobedient" one was up to.

  BB It didn’t always mean even a loss of privileges. In the late 70’s when the beard thing broke we wanted to appoint to be a MS a bro who was bearded.

  the jw website is currently featuring a piece: the shell of the diabolical ironclad beetle​—was it designed?

  it is part of their regular tedious 'was it designed?

  ' series that purports that very very specific animal species must have been specifically designed because of some seemingly amazing feature.. but they seem completely unaware that this directly contradicts their notion that only very broad 'kinds' were required on the mythical 'ark'.

  Watchtower has always believed in micro evolution. They accept "kinds" can adapt to different environments - they just get flaky when it comes to speciation.

  Notty possibly have a choir of their own present their new Christmas song to the world,

  I've never understood why JWs don't have regional choirs anyway.

  OK they do have the Bethel choir/the one they use to make official recordings & video's. But I've never gotten why say circuits can't have their own choirs (and orchestra's) - especially for conventions and weddings etc

  Music is a huge part of worship in the western tradition and nothing brings people together like it. Just another thing JWs are deprived of😟

  is 31:yet he also is wise and will bring disaster and does not retract his words.. 1 sam 15: furthermore, the eternal one of israel does not lie or change his mind, for he is not man who changes his mind.. numbers 23: god is not a man who lies, or a son of man who changes his mind.

  does he speak and not act, or promise and not fulfill?.

  when the god you worship pronounces judgement, is he, really just issuing a warning or has the matter been determined through all the godly powers of insight, foresight and perfect judgement?

  Sea Breeze But how can you say it was conditional? Because it didn't come to pass? Surely "I will destroy Nineveh in 40 days " is just as definitive a statement as "your house and kingdom will endure forever"??

  Perhaps things happen and humans, seeing agency in everything as an evolutionary survival adaptation, see "the hand of god" in the unexplainable (such as the tragic death of king David's baby). Or perhaps use Gods anger as a convenient excuse for, say, loosing a war, or a volcano destroying a city (or not as the case may be).

  a thread about steve hassan re-emerged and got me looking him up.

  his wikipedia entry had a point under "criticism" that there is an underlying assumption in his approach that all members of high control groups ultimately want to leave*.. while it is generally believed that there are a lot of pimos still attending, doing field service and giving lip service to the wt, i doubt that everyone within the congregations want to get out.

  it's not always internally and logically consistent, but it's been around long enough for enough workarounds to make it tolerable to emerge.. what do you think?

  Especially when it is so onerous that you realize you are looking bad, such as not taking part in a charity drive or other helpful community activity. Or not observing holidays to such a degree that you respond to "Merry Christmas" by either offering a flat "thank you" or pretending you did not hear them. I think there is a part of us that feels left out socially, and that hurts because we are social creatures

  You've just perfectly described my experience as a witness. The charity thing always irked me so much.
