It's so depressing. We were talking about what she's going to do as she gets older and reaches retirement age. Now that my dad has died(they were divorced unscripturally and she's stayed single this whole time), she is trying to lose weight so she can start man hunting. She's hoping that she'll either find someone who can take care of her or hoping that this system will end. I just started asking her questions about what she's doing to lose weight so that I didn't have to hear her talk about this system ending. It really saddens me to hear her talk like that. I wish I could grab her by the shoulders and shake it out of her. As much as I don't want my mom man hunting, I really do hope she finds someone who could take care of her. But I also know that's nearly impossible in jw world. I don't know what I'm going to do with my mom when she get really old. I just left the jws last year. I've pioneered for most of my adult life which means I've just started working full-time, for the first time, a few months ago. And I'm living paycheck to paycheck. I don't make enough money to start saving for my own retirement, let alone to take care of my mom in her old age. What do children of jws who have no retirement plan do? How do you take care of your parents when you can barely take care of yourself?

funnyface: There were 2 men and 3 women, or maybe I should say young men and young women. They looked like they were around 18 or so.
cameo-d: JWs wear normal people clothes also, except for when they're in the ministry. Then, they weae dress clothes. These people were wearing casual clothes such as jeans. Like I said a few post up in my response to Ding, clothes that you would see kids wearing to high school. JWs don't wear jeans in the ministry. I've seen some men wear khakis, but jeans are definitely not allowed.

Ding: No, they weren't mormons. No white shirts or nameplates. They were all young and wearing casual clothes. The kind of clothes you would see any young person wear to high school. I saw them talking to my down stairs neighbor, and they handed him a pamplet.
VampireDCLXV: That's exactly what I thought, but I don't think there's any way they would've known.

Anyway, I was hoping they would come to my door because I was curious to know which religion it was. They saw me get out of my car and walk passed them and go into my apartment. But they never came. I guess Jesus doesn't love me.

Facebook privacy settings are crucial to control your info!!
by WingCommander ini just thought i'd start this topic about facebook privacy settings as i am seeing it come up on here and other forums a lot where you have people who are on facebook and then their jw family or friends are requesting to be friends with them and they don't know what to do!!
we are hearing it time and time again: you "friended" some jw family member, long-ago pioneer partner, etc, etc.
that person then goes through your facebook profile and sees everything you've written, your photos of you and your new life including holidays, partners, worldly activities, etc, etc.

bottleofwater, thanks. I customize my posts and links now, but the link I mentioned is already there. I'd have to delete it, then post it again to customize it. I didn't want to go through the trouble to do that. I just don't understand why fb has allowed me to hide posts and pictures from a group under the privacy settings, but with links I have to hide it as I'm posting each one. Oh, well.

One problem I've found with the jw group I created is that I can't figure out how to block them from seeing my links. This has kept me from being able to accept my aunt as a friend because I have a link to a video of me blowing out b-day candles. Any suggestions?

Congrats! I find your post very motivating. I've been considering going to college. However, there are other things I want to do too. Now that I can do whatever I want, I'm finding myself wanting to do a lot of different things. I just don't know where to start.

I think mine is pretty obvious too. I was living one life, but in my heart I wanted to live another life. Now, I'm finally living the life I wanted and not in secret.
