@88JM: Atlantis has been having computer problems recently, that's the reason we haven't seen him online. The April KM should have been out on jw.org for some days, Atlantis posted the March issue on 01/12. Pixel, can you upload the PDF somewhere?

Is the NWT a translation or simply a rewording w/ edits ?
by mP indid they really start from teh greek, hebrew and aramaic texts and translate or did freddy and the friends simply take other bibles and reword each and every sentence.
naturally during this exercise they would have altered the text to make it comptaible with their eschatology.
i think this best explains what really happen during those sessions as they had no literary skills they honestly couldnt read the originals.. .

"Freddy" did have the skills to read ancient Hebrew, and he had studied two or three years of Biblical Greek. Moreover, he had a high ability of easily learning foreign languages, thus he became qualified to coordinate the translation project. They started translation in 1947 and released the complete Bible in 1961.

Need help in identifying a Bible translation
by Caminante ini'm working on transcribing the full 3 hour recording of ray franz's visit in romania of over five years ago and i realize he quotes from a pretty unfamiliar bible translation.
well, it's unfamiliar to me--it might not be for you though--and i don't seem to find it anywhere online.
as a clue, i have the verses from 1 peter 4:8-10. they read as follows: "above all, let your love for one another be constant, for love covers a multitude of sins.

"The Inclusive Bible" seems to be too new. Ray's conference was on October 13, 2007. His Bible appeared relatively used.

As generous stewards of God’s manifold grace, put your gifts at the service of one another, each in the measure he has received." Upon searching in Google for these quotes I come across several Catholic resources, but none of them specifies the Bible translation used. Could you give me a hand here? Thanks a lot!

Entire WT Library From Beginning
by admirmitch ini had an idea to which i don't even know if it would be feasible but i'd like to throw it out regardless.
i figured this is the best place to post since this is the forum that gets the most traffic.
however, this question is tech related.

Bobcat: Yes, the database in the MEPS Research Explorer does have all the publications the Watch Tower Society had ever published in digital form. It's not that huge. The English version of Watchtower Library 2012 has less than 140 MB of text-only publication data and a 153 MB large index of all the words used in the publications. I suppose that a full database would take up less than 1.5 GB. In contrast, the PDF publications posted on JW.org are much larger, only the Books and Brochures section of PDF files is somewhere around 21.5 GB.

New Light on the New Light!!
by The Searcher injust discovered that the 'new light' regarding the the identity of the 'slave' is not so new.
in the brochure "who are doing jehovah's will today?
", (brought out months before the annual meeting) it clearly states in the first paragraph in section 19 that "jesus would appoint the slave - during the time of the end!!

This is consistent, since the new brochures were not supposed to be used in the ministry until after the Annual Meeting, usually there is an article in Our Kingdom Ministry outlining the most effective use of the new literature.
