@disfellowshipped1: the "Teach Us" book cover posted on the JW Archive forum seems to be either a fake mockup or a very early draft of the cover. Some facts about it: 1) the font used with the white text is indeed Watchtower's very own WtKnollTextMedium, but 2) the title does not match to the one in the October 4 letter, 3) the letter says that the cover is "slightly altered" to the cover of the "Bible Teach" book (this mockup is completely different), and 3) the text next to the QR code (tu-E \n 150408) is set in the wrong font and the wrong size (it should be URW Nimbus Sans D Extended). Moreover the printing date of 150408 claims that the cover was scheduled to printing on April 8, 2015. -

1919 Doctrine no longer exists? (Today's Watchtower Study)
by FusionTheism inquote from today's watchtower study article that's being studied at the halls (march 15, 2015, page 24):.
"understanding the illustration of the talents".
"when the master rewards the slaves.".

@Splash: While some of the anointed have already received their heavenly reward as of 1918 and onward (per JW doctrine), it would make sense that the understanding that they would 'communicate the truth' to the ones on Earth has been dropped completely when they revised the definition of the "faithful and discreet slave." A study article in 2009 titled The Faithful Steward and Its Governing Body had already paved the path to the current understanding. The article made it crystal clear rank and file anointed have no special status in the congregation and must submit themselves to appointed elders from among the "other sheep." In recent years there hasn't been any consideration of the role the anointed play before receiving their authority during the great tribulation and the Millenial kingdom.
So 1919 does keep its significance in Watchtower eschatology as the year when Jesus supposedly appointed the 'faithful slave' composed of J. F. Rutherford and his team on the top of the Watch Tower Society. This way, the Governing Body ejected, so to speak, Charles Taze Russell of out of the equation of being part of the "slave," thus distancing the current organization further away from its Bible Student roots or loosening the importance of these roots theologically speaking.

@leaving_quietly: Yes, since this book is a reworking or reboot of the "Greatest Man" book, most of the text and artwork stems from that book. There are a few completely new illustrations, and even existing ones have been updated or enhanced digitally.
@hoser: While the concept heavily borrows from the "Greatest Man" book, this new rendition of Jesus' biography features a more structured layout (chapters are grouped into units; there is a Scripture index, an index of the parables, and a list of Messianic prophecies in the back matter), uses up-to-date language and features up-to-dae interpretations of the parables and prophetic features.

The logo is coded into the WtAtArtwork, but it's based on WtGaramondMedium, which used 99% Berthold Garamond / Garamond BE / URW Garamond T letterforms. Indeed it's an in-house rendition of Berthold Garamond Semibold. -

JW.org Email Service - Now I've Seen EVERYTHING!!!
by jw07 inmaybe i'm late but i just discovered that elders now have an email service run on the jw.org domain name.. those emails might contain a treasure trove of very sensitive material regarding rape, molestation, pedophilia cases etc.. the cult keeps getting creepier and creepier.
why would they do that in this day and age, lots of damning stuff in one place?.

Splash: The BOE letters are released in the Documents section.
The Inbox section is for general congregation-related correspondence between the elders, circuit overseer and the branch. It's been there for at least 2 years.

Your Expert Research is needed!
by Atlantis infriends:.
doug mason needs no introductions here.
we all know him to be an excellent writer, such as: blondie, terry, jwfacts, barbara anderson and countless others on this board.. doug is asking for assistance on a new project he is working on to explain in terms easy to understand, the changes the watchtower now expects jehovah's witnesses and others to believe.. your expert knowledge on these subjects such as: 144,000, great crowd, order of special full time servants, and governing body would be greatly appreciated.

1. Does the WTS still refer to the mass of JWs as the "Other Sheep" and "Great Crowd"? (Or do they use "Great Multitude"?)
It's more accurate to use "other sheep". The great crowd refers to those other sheep who will survive Armageddon.
2. By what other Bible-based designations does it identify the earth-bound class? (I suspect that terms such as Publisher, Overseer, and Pioneer are not Bible based, but I could be wrong. It has been known to happen.)
Usually they use "other sheep" when referring to present day, and "great crowd" when talking in an eschatological context.
3. I see the term "spirit-anointed". Where do they get this? Is it from the gospels or from Pentecost?
Neither. This term was concocted by Watchtower. In my opinion, referred to the 144,000 as 'anointed' Christians stems from the fact that they will rule as kings and priests during the Millennial reign of Christ. 'Spirit-anointed' might be a reference to Romans 8:14-17 where the holy spirit bears witness of someone's being called for heavenly life.
4. What are the names it currently uses to identify the 144,000?
Anointed Christians or "little flock"
5. Does it openly refer to the Order of Special JWs, apart from that brief entry in the Year Book statistical summary?
The Religious Order of Special Full-Time Servants of Jehovah's Witnesses includes (as far as I know) Bethelites and traveling overseers and their wifes. They refer to the Order in the contract you need sign when accepted to serve at Bethel,
6. Do they still see members of the 144,000 as having been gathered in every age since the start of Christianity?
Yes. Nothing has been published to change this viewpoint.

Terminology the Society Hates?
by toweragent inin my most recent talk, i got counseled for using some terms that were not prefered.
for example i said "new testament" rather than "the christian greek scriptures".
i also used the term "gospel", but even worse, i made reference to the "synoptic gospels" and the "gnostic gospel".. i guess i never thought of it before, but when i looked at the societies information on the matter they always say things like, "the so-called new testament..." or "the so-called synoptic gospels..." why with all the "so-called?".

The term "the Society" has been deprecated in 2001 when the Governing Body stepped off from their positions as directors and executives of the corporations. Since then it's "the branch office" in most letters from the branch or "the organization" / "Jehovah's Witnesses" in other contexts.
The Standards Manual also lists several wordings that are to be avoided.

Aug 1/87 WT p 32 - WT Index 1930-1985 has indexed EVERY publication
by berrygerry ininteresting quote on the back page.. "this new book has indexed every publication produced by the watch tower bible and tract society since 1930.".
(also on the cd wt library).
funny then that the life everlasting book (1966) never made it in..

berrygerry: The "1930-1985 Index" has references to the "Life Everlasting" book under the keywords that reference it in the printed index, but the book itself is not included in "Watchtower Library", because the CD-ROM contains only publications released from 1970 onward.
