  Site issues: Dec 30 Update

  first of all, some apologies - i had planned to spend the last couple of days getting everyone signed in to the new site and sorting account issues out but i wasn't getting over the flu as i thought, i got worse.

  i've probably had 4 hours sleep in the last few days.

  anything that requires too much thinking isn't going to happen right now.

  missing a lot of the oldies and goodies -- is this site so new, no one has signed on yet?

  i am confused... but then, i will have to wait and see what happens.. somehow - change is not the best option but we adjust..have most of the users gone to other locations?.

  Like Magnum said, till we get a FAQ on how things work it will be slow going for some things.

   BUT I was able to change my avatar and I do like the look of it.  Thank you Simon!

  New forum 'parousia' is upon us! (software version)

  the time has nearly come to switch over to the new forum software.

  of course it's not completely finished yet (and never will be) but i think it's good enough to go live with and probably already better than the current one.

  i'll give you a quick overview of what to expect and post more detail about the changeover process later.. cloud platform.

  I really would like to return to my reading of the archives... I had started on active topics and worked from page 4 or 5 to somewhere in the 300's.  Is there a easy way to get this done?  I know that it should be possible.  

  Technology is wonderful, but I do need detailed instructions.  FAQ's, whatever I am doing now is not working.

  Click  your name at the top of the page, it goes to your profile page... Which you can now enter info about yourself.  About halfway down is the option to change the avatar.  You can do this!

  she's not even american and doesn't live in the usa so it's not even her area of political awareness really.

  she seems convinced that obama is the prophesied wolf in sheep's clothing mentioned in revelation.. it's unusual for non-us dubs to hold the weirder beliefs, so this is a new one for me.

  she also said that the end is very close now and that things are a foot with north korea; it's clearly the king of the north.. she said exactly the same thing 5 years ago about china, and exactly the same thing 10 years ago about iraq.. derp derp..

  Like Button

  i read through the suggestion box and haven't seen anyone recomend this yet: is it possilbe to add a "like" button for posts and comments?

  maybe something that keeps count of them like on youtube.

  i think it would be a great tool to let people know we appreciate their comments.. i know we have the thumbs up icon we can paste in our comments but its hard to "like" someones elses comment when the thread is already 30 comments deep.. (feel free to thumbs up if this is a feature you'd like to see).

  Changing avatars is easy, click on your name at the top of the page; it goes to the profile page you can write a bit and do the avatar (using Gravatar or your own download)  

  Love your new look Awake at Last!  Mine is a quilt close-up, that I took a picture of at a quilt show.

  I love that my Gravatar shows up and now we have the option of uploading one.  Click your username at the top of the page, it will let you modify your profile too.  Nice!

  Forty years to walk accross a desert that could be walked accross in less than half a year, unlikely. There is a theory that there was a trickle of immagrents over a period of years from Egypt. The Moses story appears to be taken from Sumerian myths. All this from a quick search on Google.
