Q for all Christians (not just JW) about the ransom.

so this is the basic logical flaw in christianity i believe.

a brother identified it from the stage for me in a talk.

we all agree (as christians and jw's) that the ransom was necessary because adam lost his perfection and everlasting life.. this is a paraphrase from the talk:.

Rom. 1 shows that all men are universally condemned and without excuse, even if they have not heard of Jesus. God also judges according to light we have and will do the right thing (Gen. 18:25). Babies lack moral/mental capacity and go to heaven based on their non-rejection of Christ. The Bible is clear about people like you and me who have heard the gospel. We can make inferences about those who have not heard (post-mortem salvation, universalism, inclusivism, annihilation, etc. are all heretical views).

As to the Old Testament, people were saved based on trusting YHWH and His provision/plan at the time. They had the shadows/types and we have reality in Christ (Heb. 1:1-3). They looked forward to the cross by faith and we look back on the finished work by faith. Calling on the name of Jesus (Rom. 10:9-10; Phil. 2:5-11) is calling on the name of YHWH. The OT saints called on God as Savior and NT saints call on God in Christ as Savior (Jn. 14:6; Acts 4:12; Jn. 3:16). In all this, all believers in all generations are saved by grace through faith apart from works in God's revelation/provision at their time. We are in the Church Age, so leave the judging to God and embrace our gospel, the power of God (Rom. 1:16).

i am attending jw meetings for reasons that i will not, at this time, elaborate on, but i want to leave.

i have wanted to for awhile, for many reasons.

only begotten=monogenes...this has nothing to do with being first created (nor does firstborn). He is the unique Son of God, equal with the Father. You are spouting WT nonsense, not biblical truth. He is not Michael, but the Creator of Michael (Col. 1; Heb. 1; Jn. 1). The Holy Spirit is developed in Jn. 14-16, not in Jn. 1:1 (using your logic, there is no Son, because some verses only mention the Father). Jesus is YHWH, not a secondary false god (polytheism if a true god).

I did not pick it, but I don't worship Christmas trees (though I celebrate His birth every day and culturally in Dec. in addition to church focus), contrary to WT nonsense.

I noticed an ad link on this forum for betheltours. I am not a JW, so I can't get special tours of Bethel, NY (I would be interested). I am a Witness of Jesus/Jehovah (Acts 1:8). Imagine if I could get on one of these tours. It would be like fishing in a barrel. I imagine I would get tarred and feathered and thrown overboard (who would want to hang out with JWs and see Branch offices and meet their leaders for vacation; then again, who would book summer vacation to sit at a boring convention all weekend?! If nothing else, JWs make good slaves or are outwardly dedicated to a cause, as futile as it is).

we had a letter read this afternoon after the watchtower study that said we had 54,408 auxillary pioneers in april and with the regular pioneers it totaled 64,855 in full time preaching in april.

57% of the publishers.. so my guess is that the co will come down hard on any congregation that didn't meet those numbers next april.. i think the 30 hour thing had it's desired effect.. hoser.

The Convention invent did say I could go to a lecture and find out how I could qualify to have paradise. I asked a JW at a convention if someone about to die in a plane crash could get right with God and how. In light of the long indoctrination process, he could not give me the hope that the thief on the cross had with one prayer. As an opposer, I am probably in big doo doo in the WT system. Thankfully, as a Christian, I have full assurance of salvation and eternal life now (present, continuous tense in I Jn. 5:11-13 and Jn. 3:16) based on grace and His finished work on my behalf apart from works (Jn. 1:12; Eph. 2:8-10; Titus 3:5; Jn. 3:3; Rom. 1:16; Rom. 10:9-10, etc.). This is why the gospel is good news and the works gospel of Islam and the cults is futile. Nothing can be added to His shed blood (Rom. 6:23). The NWT distorts some of these grace verses (like Mormon Nephi verse that says we are saved by grace after all we can do?! an addition to Eph. 2) or wrongly attributes them to their 144k class (that is another misinterpretation).

Run from the cult to the Christ. Sell all to find the Pearl of Great Price.

The Johannine use of Logos identifies Him with Christ as God in the flesh (Jn. 1:1-14; Rev.; Phil. 2:5-11).

Jn. 1:1 is interpreted based on inspired grammar. I have never heard of the mystic theory that negates any sense of revelation in the context. All the greatest grammarians in the world (masters) agree with Wallace's view. I have even seen an atheistic scholar agree with trinitarians against JWs despite his unbelief in trinity/God.
