What I meant (but you misunderstood) was that Hinduism is not in the same category of faith as Christianity or pseudo-Christian cults. Hinduism is older than Christianity, but so is Judaism (yet Christianity is the full expression of divine revelation Heb. 1:1-3).

What say you Christians ???
by wobble init seems to me that most, if not all christians are really hung up on sin and redemption from sin and how naturally evil we all are.. my question, and observation is this : i had nothing to do with whatever you say adam and eve did wrong, i have always, throughout my life, treated whoever i came into contact with compassion, respect and love.. i have lived by the golden rule.. not many people, hand on heart, can say that, i can.. so, is your god going to judge me for the "sin" of some mythical forebears of mine ?
is he going to say that , because i did not believe in him, i willl be judged adversely, even though i lived by the precepts he is supposed to support ?.
all i can say is, if your god is like that, i refuse to worship or acknowledge him.. and i certainly do not want to get to know him.

It is actually a Greek idiom, not a wooden literalism. It is a strong phrase in the Greek that conveys endless duration, whether for the worship and existence of God or for the torment of God's enemies. WT rationalizations are based on Russell, not Scripture. Truth will always stand against the lie.

Hello
by Chariklo ini am new to this site, just finding my way around.. i've been studying with jw's for about 15 months.
i'm an unbaptised publisher, and until recently never missed a meeting, have been out "on the service" quite a lot.
i've been having difficulties with one of the jw's studying with me and something happened which was just unacceptable.

Cults can meet perceived needs, but they are a shallow counterfeit to transformation in Christ. JWs are indoctrinated and controlled, but often fail to realize it until they are out.
The Bible is meant to be understood. Most Christians are in agreement on the essentials of the faith, so peripheral issues will be debated, even as they were in the early church by Paul and his well meaning detractors. The body of truth passed on from the beginning has stood the test of time with heretical attacks (like Arianism followed by JWs) being condemned are marginalized.

The Christian Onslaught
by satinka in*sigh* i have been noticing lately there are a number of groups of "christians" signing up as members of this forum, with the obvious agenda of gaining converts for their own cult-like religions.
i have been wondering things like:.
hmmm...maybe i'll try ignoring them.. thank you simon for the space to vent.. satinka.

Humility is having an accurate assessment of oneself, neither too low of a view (earthworm) nor too high (divine being). I have strengths and weaknesses like anyone else. What counts is character, not outward things. My character is being formed by the Spirit as He reproduces the life and attitudes of Christ in me (Gal. 5:22-23 fruit of the Spirit). This is a progressive work that does not make me immune from fleshly lapses/imperfections.

It can be shown from extensive writings in church history that there is NO precedent for Mormonism, JWs, Christian Science, Scientology, New Age, Islam, etc. Hinduism is old, but it is not even close to Christianity. This is an objective fact. You constantly think that a false statement disproves the possibility of a true statement. Is your forum name a mockery of Jesus?

The same Bible also says that unregenerate men will join Satan and together they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. This everlasting duration phrase is also used of worshipping God day and night forever and ever. Annihilation and universalism are lies/heresies.
Pika Chu: I imagine any logician would be able to deal with your non sequiturs, wrong premises, etc.
jgnat: The Bible God is transcendent and immanent. Deism is a false philosophy that makes Him aloof. This is the beauty of the incarnation: God Himself, not a flunky angel, walked among us, suffered, died, rose again. This is why it is so serious to reject Jesus (it is a rejection of God Himself).

Podobear, what is your version of truth?
It can be demonstrated from Scripture that Jesus is Jehovah, not Michael Archangel, that the Holy Spirit is personal, not active force, that heaven is not limited to 144,000, that salvation is based on grace/faith, not works, etc. Anyone who can read can fairly represent JW beliefs. The problem is that they are ever changing and most JWs are ignorant of their history, changing views, etc.

Discipline is redemptive, not punitive (one does not have to be anointed/GB/WT to know this, yet they don't get it).
