Joey: You are ignorant of modern translations and the many verses supporting the Deity of Christ and Trinity (I rarely use I Tim. 3:16, but the context supports God in the flesh regardless of textual criticism issues). The NWT is the main perversion that systematically twists Deity verses to their own destruction. NASB, NIV, ESV, KJV, RSV, etc. etc. are primarily trinitarian scholarship and the belief can be defended from any of them. NWT Jn. 1:1 a god is universally panned by any credible scholar. Your statement is flat out false and made out of ignorance. I agree about the deadness of the Koran. It is demonic, not divine.

Refuting Franz's Crisis of Conscience

i'm about halfway through crisis of conscience.

some pretty extraordinary stuff in there.. wondering, aside from telling people not to read "apostate material", has there been any official denial or refutation of the books contents by the watchtower society, official or otherwise?.

side note: franz is a wonderful writer, if a bit repetitive in places.

Pentecostals share the gospel and emphasize Christ as Lord God, Savior, Healer, Deliverer, Baptizer (Spirit), coming King. If you don't like Pentecostals, you will not like heaven because there will be many there. Should people also stay away from God/Jesus?

i'm about halfway through crisis of conscience.

some pretty extraordinary stuff in there.. wondering, aside from telling people not to read "apostate material", has there been any official denial or refutation of the books contents by the watchtower society, official or otherwise?.

Joseph Campbell? Pulease. Myth man is not the go to guy for biblical truth?!

Black sheep: do a Greek word/context study on death, perishing, destroy, etc. Death is not cessation, annihilation, but separation. WT is wrong in their understanding of death, soul, hell, etc. Jesus was not JW (Lk. 16).

Newc: Jesus is not hybrid 50-50, but fully God (100-100) and fully man, one person with two natures, the God-Man. JWs are rationalists and could not understand how God can be triune and incarnate as man (Jn. 1; Phil. 2). They put reason above revelation, as do you.

Jesus is the God-Man, one person with two natures (100% Deity/YHWH; 100% Humanity). He is the Son of God and the Son of Man. Islam is wrong to claim He is a mere man, prophet, teacher vs Son of God (equality with Father). They are wrong to deny His Deity, death, and resurrection. Jews are wrong to reject His Messiahship and Deity. JWs are wrong to reject His Deity. Mormons are wrong to make him a deified human, one of many gods (polytheism).

Unless a JW, Jew, ex-JW, Muslim, etc. confesses that Jesus is Lord/YHWH, they will not have eternal life, but will perish (Jn. 1:1; Jn. 20:28: Jn. 1:12; Jn. 3:16 vs Jn. 3:36; Jn. 14:6; Acts 4:12; Phil. 2; Heb. 1; Col. 1; Rom. 10:9-10; I Jn. 5:11-13, etc.).

seriously, half day in (already had an argument with the wife this morning about individuality in the organization in which she conceded that a lot of it is based on looks) and this is already getting on my nerves.

i'll post a rebuttal based on my annotations later in the week but one thing i got to get off my mind: saying the feminist movement (women going to work instead of staying home) and the diversity laws (allowing for homosexuality - but also religious freedom, racial discrimination etc.

) caused a lot of the problems in our world right from the stage.. there are less people here than last year - about 500 less..

I noticed some people taking notes at the Convention. It looked like there was an outline book. Even I took detailed notes of the last talk so I could look up things and not misrepresent what was said. Any meeting will be a mix of keeners and bored ones. I imagine newer converts might hang on every word, while those hearing the same rehash might be more distractable. The best of us would yawn after 3 days of this stuff. This is probably why the dramas are seen as high points (as mediocre as they were). Most non-JW church goers could also be guilty of boredom at times.

It is a sin to make the Bible and God boring (neither are, so it takes human effort to do so).

One post cannot derail a thead, especially when previous posts on the thread were more relevant. Also, just because you don't see the connection does not mean one does not exist. If you scrutinize all posts/posters, they will inevitably fail your egg shell test since it is not uncommon for people to put up joke videos, make superficial, personal, passing comments, etc. This is a forum, not a doctoral thesis that needs to be dissected. Even Paul in Scripture would wander from the topic and come back. Good grief.

This is a relevant comment. Millions of people heard about the coming of the Kingdom at Convention. It is fair to point out to those who went or heard people parroting kingdom stuff that the King is more important than the Kingdom. Look at all the other posts on any given thread. Mine is no more out of line than any other post that is not directly tied into the topic (but mine was a relevant comment). I am not a baby and let people say what they want, even dumb things or personal attacks against me and others. Should we all just blindly agree with falsehood? Is a forum a place to have cultic uniformity or can we share contrary ideas/experiences that are not being refuted, just mocked?

Why is making a positive statement in line with the Bible trolling? If a JW or ex-JW does it, it is fine. If a non-JW does it, it is trolling? If anyone else said the same thing, you would probably let it slide. Quit making it personal and support freedom of speech, including ignoring those that bug you (as do I).

Proclaim the risen Christ, the King of the kingdom. The gospel is the person and work of Christ. The kingdom message was postponed when they killed the King. It will be resumed during the future 7 year Tribulation relating to Israel before the Second Coming and the millennial reign of Christ on earth. He is King of kings and Lord of lords (same title applied only to Jehovah- Jesus is YHWH!). There is only one superlative.

The kingdom is the rule of God. It is now in our hearts and not yet (there is a future, literal eschatological component).
