i intend for this to be one of a series of bite-sized ops on the evidence for evolution.. introduction to dna genes are sequences of dna made up of words (codons) each of which are three letters (bases) long.

there are only four letters in the genetic alphabet (acg&t) each word or codon is the recipe for one amino acid.

there are 20 different amino acids in living organisms.

Creationism has absolutely nothing going for it all. On the other hand evolution is supported by an overwhelming amount of objective evidence. The information in the OP of this thread should be enough to convince any rational person.

When man created machines and computers, did he completely reinvent the wheel? In the late 1800's why didn't they just create the iphone as it's shown today? Since computers can be shown to have evolved then that information shows that man didn't make computers but they all evolved on their own and had no human input. With that being said, why do you limit a creator to having to make all life forms distinct with no sharing characteristics or base?

I predicted a lottery number from a pattern, is the lottery NOT random or is random held to a universal force?

i've studied and observed several lottery patterns.

this one is now gone so nothing lost by revealing it.

i had a certain history search and noticed that almost each week the past few months a list of numbers not used recently were being used 1 per week.

So far based on the answers, none explain how i knew a 1 or 34 would get selected. Out of all possible 69 numbers from a certain date, there was a pool of numbers that eventually were not selected yet, while several were selected a few times. The past few weeks each of the remaining numbers that weren't selected yet were getting finally selected. Last night it was down to two, 1 and 34. Lo and behold 34 is picked.

Technically both numbers should have had a 1/69 probability of being selected but the fact they hadn't and each week 1 from that small pool of numbers was being selected. 1 is now overdue. I'd be surprised if 1 was drawn next because it's the only 1 left but it will be very soon. I'll have a 1 on one of my draws for the next few ones.

I had a certain history search and noticed that almost each week the past few months a list of numbers not used recently were being used 1 per week. The last 2 numbers were 34 and 1. I KNEW tonight either 34 or 1 would be used. (1 may be used next but since only 1 left that pattern may expire).

Are the lottery winning numbers truly random? Flipping a coin in the long run you'll have 50/50 heads and tails.

Did 34 get pulled because it was selected to make the numbers equalize and appear random or did a cosmic force make it because random must eventually have all numbers equal out?

WT beliefs keep somebody I know from suicide, any suggestions?

the religion is like being on a dangerous drug or major abuser of alcohol in which suddenly stopping it will kill them even though remaining on it is also killing them.

someone i know has poor health, on welfare and very poor, and unable to turn around and change their life.

they are very depressed and been on care and had several close calls and suicidal thoughts.

Someone I know has poor health, on welfare and very poor, and unable to turn around and change their life. They are very depressed and been on care and had several close calls and suicidal thoughts. A big part of their life's situation is due to the lifetime of following the WT and they said what held them back from suicide is loosing their hope and not being forgiven, etc.

Seems the damage can't be undone and if they really awoke and learned TTATT then reality of their situation may just have them end their life, especially since too late to change anything. What are your thoughts?

Pictures in the Watchtower

after sitting through last sunday's watchtower i got so sick of seeing the bobbing/nodding heads when talking about the pictures.

they act like god himself took the picture.

there must have been 10 comments about the group in service and the one brother was looking at his phone with a smile, which is a dead give away that he was reading something interesting.. what got me was how the older brother in the posed picture had a bible in his hand had a stern look on his face looking at the young brother.

I'm sure the JW's get super excited when they have an opportunity to comment on pictures because it allows them to say words not already printed and to give the illusion that they can think for themselves and develop a true comment in their own words.

I thought Christmas was more a catholic origination???

from when a jw, it was at least always told to me how catholics took on christmas, and all the other pagan celebrations etc.

recently i met a russian who said they are catholic and in russia they don't really celebrate christmas.

it's more an american thing and that new years is the bigger deal and the closest thing to christmas to them is something on like jan 7th.

Recently I met a Russian who said they are Catholic and in Russia they don't really celebrate Christmas. It's more an american thing and that New Years is the bigger deal and the closest thing to Christmas to them is something on like Jan 7th.

Also met a Puerto Rican also said raised Catholic and that they didn't celebrate Christmas either.

I know the USA was originally protestant and in some areas Christmas was banned until the late 1700's.

So what's the real scoop on Christmas?

Here are some differences though....

Most "Christian" faiths teach that the old testament commands are no longer to be followed and are more of a history lesson. So no cutting off of hands, etc. Also to my knowledge no Chrisitian religions are killing each other over the correct interpretation of Christianity. Differences with new and old testament.

Islam however has nothing that I know of that cancels out it's harsh punishments and treatment.
