With the current GB claiming they authorize or write and oversee the current publications in the past couple of years about not even emailing family members who left their cult, about not caring for elderly family, about not planning for retirement or getting a higher education while they are set themselves for life, and the JW.org website with it's lies about not shunning those who have left the religion, etc, the world would be a better place without them. Unfortunately others would take their place and continue on business as usual. But all the destruction they have done, lives they ruin, and being at the top they know the facts, they deserve anything they get.

Theory on the real reason WT wants youth to put service ahead of caring for elderly family....
by EndofMysteries inthe generation of the 'creators promise' that wouldn't die until the new world is now becoming elderly, they are broke, hadn't saved for retirement, and need help.. there hasn't been real growth, the growth is mostly born ins and born ins children (population growth), those who didn't listen to the advice to not have kids.. suddenly, the overlapping 2nd generation started slacking on their field service to take care of their parents.
the gb were insulted that the numbers were dropping and noticing that soon nobody would be going door to door because all who can would be taking care of their broke, elderly parents who couldn't afford retirement or proper care.. the gb though know that they are higher than god and jesus and they should not be expected to not have all the luxuries of life, first class flights, etc, so they issue new orders that the younger ones are not to put aside their peddling of their literature to care for the elderly parents.
the eldery were too presumptuous and looked too deep into things.

The eldery were too presumptuous and looked too deep into things. The GB NEVER hinted or said that they shouldn't prepare for retirement and they shouldn't be hindering the work now. As for those who are still relatively young, the GB never told the current old ones not to plan for retirement, it was there fault, but the generation alive now DEFINITELY won't reach old age, so they should not be planning for retirement. They must put service ahead of everything. Then in thirty years the cycle will repeat again when they get old and their children are grown up, etc.

by sprintcmp inhttp://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-28166192.
i had not seen much of this even in the chicago area, but in small town bloomington-normal, il (pop.

It was only a few years ago I heard about how the odd "Russelites" set up booths at flea markets and such to distribute literature. Low and behold I go to the local flea market the other week and one of the congregations by me has a booth setup, some books/magazines on the table and those at the booth yucking it up to eachother paying no attention to any who are walking by.

Full-time service is MORE IMPORTANT than taking care of elderly parents!!! It says so in the Sept 2014 WT
by EndofMysteries inparagraph 20 out of the article in the sept 2014 study wt about fulltime service says this.... .
"full-time servants age, and so do their parents.
when parents are witnesses, likely their fondest wish is for their children to stay in their assignments.

Bluesbrother - thanks for posting that!! That's exactly what I was talking about. The WT is constantly producing exact opposite things so they can have the elders pull out any answer for any situation they want.
For example one day you might go to the jw org site and the WT says under it's FAQ on jw.org website, "I heard that JW's are supposed to put preaching ahead of caring for elderly parents, is this true?" And the WT response would be, "That is an absolute lie, worldwide haters of the truth want to spread lies about JW's, we teach that parents come first as you can see in the 5/15 WT where it says.......". THEN that very same writer of that WT article will be typing up a letter to congregation elders about what a pioneer should be doing w/ their elderly parents and he will quote the 9/2014 WT about the full time work being more important, etc.
Or if a lawsuit came up, they would quote the occassional opposing article to say that the accusation is a lie, etc.

The bible students from Russell were more protestant, but then Rutherford turned this religion back into Catholic system.
by EndofMysteries ina combination of world religion and western humanities courses at college made me make this connection.
the catholics had a monopoly on christians until luther started the protestant reformation.
all those who broke off from catholics went from the pope being infalliable and the source of salvation and full of non biblical traditions and practices to attempts to stick to bible doctrine only and persona interpretation of the bible and no man on earth as infalliable but that any person can have a relationship with christ and gain understanding of the bible and god's will.

All those who shifted to the protestant side, since anybody can read the bible then opened up for disagreements with those who were unified. Suddenly you have lutherans, calvinists, protestants, angelicans, etc. To this day it's continued to expand. Most of the churches were independant as well. Like in the bible, each group or congregation picks who does what, etc. Unlike Catholics where everybody reports to the Vatican.
Now the bible students were absolutely no different. They didn't agree with everything so they got together and grouped and agreed with Russell, but with Russell he still taught each person if what they felt was right and scriptures said conflicted with his interpretation to go with what they feel. Also the congregations were independent.
Now comes Rutherford. He is the new pope, he is infalliable, he is the direct channel. He also has all congregations report to him. He has the say on what is and is not right. Takes away the freedoms of congregations to disfellowship how they choose to his calls the shots and instructs the elders how to do it and what to do. All exactly like the Catholics. Everything he condemned the Catholics for doing in later articles he adopts.
Jehovah's Witnesses religion is born and adopts the same model as Catholics have been using. They seem to have completely left the reformation and protestant line.

Online Higher Education
by SonoftheTrinity insince the faithful and discreet slave class now opposes higher education because it allegedly brings with it 'bad association', i wonder what their take is on online education.
let's remember that distance education was pioneered by fundamentalist saudi arabia and apartheid south africa for the very reasons that the jehovah's witnesses criticize higher education.
my wife is one of the faithful and i fear for our kids future, that they will see no point in keeping their grades up.

The WT fears courses such as some colleges require an "ethics" course. The ethics course teaches critical thinking and stages of thinking. It teaches a person to reason and really think for themselves.
A combination of western humanities and world religion taught me in detail how Catholics held full control of christian doctrine until Luther started the protestant revolution. All people who were trying to kick out the human traditions and non biblical doctrines that had been added by Catholics. But then many other splits happened because once the bible was open for interpretation and man didn't need to get 'the truth' from another man, Jesus was the key, then many other branches came from that since many interpret things differently. The bible students did the same thing, they were no different then any other protestant type religion, but then Rutherford took over and added back in many Catholic traits. Put himself as the pope, and organized to all report to him as Catholics all report to the Vatican.
Rutherford turned JW religion from a protestant type and the freedoms it had into a controlled centralized one like Catholic church.

You can get a 'non' online degree by registering with a normal college that also offers online classes in addition to regular ones. Since they even have night classes a combination can work out where some things that will be important to remember and know well will be much better learned in person.
Here is a really tip, look into "CLEP" exams. Many colleges accept passing CLEP exams to get college credit. It won't change your GPA but you get full credit. You only pay for the test, which is like $80.00. You can find websites and books to prepare for the CLEP exams the colleges accept.
Right now I'm doing college algrebra. About 30 hours of work I'll have done divided into 1 to 2 hours a day and I'll be ready for the exam. I could have probably done it even quicker but I actually have to learn it because then I have to take more advanced math so this is just saving me 3 months time, some money, and helping me grad quicker.

Any examples of the JW's turning their backs on the elderly?
by AlphaMan inthe watchtower religion is a family destroying cult.
i'm sure many of us know of people who gave their lives to the cult then have nothing and get nothing in the form of help from jw's.. i know a man who gave up a very good job with great benefits many years ago because the watchtower had a conflict with his noble occupation.
of course the end was coming very soon so the man took a meager retirement and quit because of the watchtower.

A couple of years before my grandmother died she developed major digestive and bowel control issues. She became irregular at the meetings to avoid embarrassment if she was having a bad day. Then sisters in her hall started spreading gossip she was spiritually week for not attending every meeting.
My jw mom and her husband live in poverty. Neither planned for retirement. He wasted his inheritance because the end was so close. Her health got real bad and even the government won't help with dental work. Bethel nor congregation would help. Her husband insisting on shunning their kids who have left the religion. But they felt it's okay to ask them for help and money. They can treat them like they are dead but expect help as well. I told her of these other christian churches where if any of it's members were in the same situation they would have helped them in a heartbeat.

Meditation linked to increased age, health, and smarts?
by EndofMysteries ini recently read how advanced meditation increases the brains waves, higher frequency alpha waves which is linked to higher state of consciousness and intelligence.
now i saw this article, http://www.cnn.com/2014/07/10/health/can-meditation-really-slow-aging/index.html?hpt=hp_c3 that it also increases life and health, etc.
i haven't really read or researched meditation but i was wondering if anybody has got into it, into a 'non religious' aspect of it.

O and by the way, when those elderly parents ask the congregation for help because the kids are away pioneering they will reply with an article saying how it's the 'blood relatives' responsibility. They will ask them to ask their kids or any they had been shunning for help. The JW kids will reply w/ the articles about pioneering being more imporant. If they get any help it will end up being those they've shunned most of their lives. If they ask the WT for help, they will refer them to the congregation. So the only help will be shunned family or the charities from all the other religions they've condemned their whole lives as only working out satans work.
