Seven Trumpets of Revelation
by Zico ini read on here that the society teaches that the seven trumpets of revelation are representative of seven conventions held in america in the 1920. is this actually true?
is it old light?
i asked some witnesses but they all gave me a look like i was weird and said it couldn't be right, and i can't check the watchtower library as i can't get it on my computer (apparently the society doesn't think mac users are worthy of the 'good news') i mean... it would be a bit...odd, wouldn't it?

The 7 trumpets being the 7 conventions were originally interpreted by Rutherford as the 7 books released, which all could purchase for the right price. But when I had in my teens read that in the revelation book, at 14 years old, I knew something was fishy there. -

What do you think is the source of your consciousness? Can it be copied or transferred?
by EndofMysteries inthis seems to be a question that even scientifically is still in the air.
right now your consciousness, is it the physical part of the brain?
the electrical signals in the brain?

But it can't learn to actually feel danger or grief.
We feel danger due to a release of chemicals as part of a defense mechanism for self preservation. The similar stimulus of pain when we are being injured. Grief is from a loss. Love is said to be a drug and you can be addicted to the one you love, they provide you with a constant supply of dopamine from interacting, hugging, closeness, etc. AI could be programmed to avoid injury and learn to sense danger, from hostility of people, animals, situations, accidents, etc, and react to avoid it, which could be interpreted as fear or danger. Same concept of grief.

Some might conclude (as we did) that we simply didn't have enough information to reach an explanation. But others may conclude they were extraterrestrials, or interdimensional, craft. Others might immediately conclude they were secret government aircraft, or some that they were simply hallucinations. But code can only conclude they were simply unidentified, without eliciting the least curiosity afterwards.
You completely described a coded thought process that could easily be implemented into AI. You have information inputs in your brain of aircraft, secret government projects, and aliens. When you saw what was flying over the skies, your brain accessed all information it knew about flying machines. It pulled out airplanes, government projects, or aliens. Then using that information, based on all life experiences and other factors and beliefs, it came to it's conclusion.
Were you a robot with AI intelligence, the input would be the UFO's you saw, UFO simply unidentified flying object. Having taken in information as an AI life, you would have known about airplanes, secret government projects, and people's beliefs in aliens. Your code would have analyzed what you saw and the only 100% probability would be as you said, simply unidentified, but to give a more specific answer it would use all available information to create it's most likely conclusion or 'belief'.

ttdtt - A consciousness in a computer would never randomly happen. But a computer could be programmed to take in and process information the same as a human brain. With the correct programming foundation, then it could learn, become self aware, etc.
That is also why I don't accept we are here by chance. No idea the truth of the matter but whether by an all encompassing universal supreme being or another biological life form I think we were created. Biological robots w/ advanced programming and ability to be self aware and learn.

It would be a fascinating field if intelligence could be created in a laboratory, but it can't.
I disagree that intelligence can't be created. Are our actions really random? Our moods are based upon a release of chemicals in our brain, dopamine, etc. Our actions and reactions are based upon past experience, memories, stimulus of the senses, etc. A robot could be programmed to learn like a human, and if a reward system was programmed to match a human, then I think it's very possible for it to become self aware and learn as a person, but even exceed our intelligence.

Jehovah or Jesus: Who Is To Come?
by Cold Steel inone thing i've never understood about jw eschatology is how it views armageddon and the end times.
the leaders and writers have evolved in their understanding of what's supposed to happen in the timeline.
below are bible scriptures relating to biblical armageddon.

When I originally pondered OP's scriptures in my own studies, I thought perhaps Jesus is God in the scriptures but with an alternative understanding than what is generally taught.
Duet 32:8,9 when Most High separated sons of man, and Israel was Jehovah/Yahweh's inheritance. Seems to show a seperation. How does the almighty 'inherit'??
Ps 82:1 Jehovah/Yahweh (perhaps judging how the others were handling their inheritance since he got Israel?)
Ex 32:30 God or Jehovah (or maybe the 'real' one) saying he will send his angel before them, who has HIS NAME, and they better obey him because he is a strict bad @## (would explain differences between dealings and appearingly super strict and unforgiving nature if it was this other entity he warned them about)
But then when they were wandering for 40 years, compare Ex 32:30 with what is said in Isaiah and Stephen before he was martyred at Act 17:42 and 43. - were those commands Stephen is referencing from this angel that was sent before them, or were the sacrifices and commands man made? Stephen is quoting Isaiah 1:11-13 which makes Yahweh/Jehovah seem to say he never commanded sacrifices. Is 1:11-13 sounds like something Jesus would say and sounds different from the cold orders in previous scriptures.
Jeremiah claims all their sacrifices were ordered or for the queen of the heavens....Jer 44:19.
So, if almighty is Yahweh/Jehovah, Jesus or his son or a son could have his name/authority and have been the one dealing with Israel. Or a strict angel after they rebelled, maybe the angel who killed the firstborns was used to lead them then.
Another interesting scripture. Have you ever heard of Satan or a supposed bad guy having been given people to lead? Is 14:10-20, there was somebody in those scriptures who was conquering the world, disabling nations, and killed his own people. Who was doing that?

"You don't go to church in a Kingdom Hall"
by stephanie61092 in"you don't go to church in a kingdom hall" was stated during the public talk yesterday.
the speaker then elaborated that "people who go to church, go to fulfill a spiritual obligation.
coming to the kingdom hall is coming to learn.

Don't go to fulfill an obligation? Remember those notes when relatives and others say you'll die at armageddon if you don't return to meetings. Then they quote, "Don't forsake the gathering of yourselves together", although no answer when asking where it's stated that is a requirement for salvation.

This seems to be a question that even scientifically is still in the air.
Right now your consciousness, is it the physical part of the brain? The electrical signals in the brain? What of the stories of those who were clinically dead? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/science/science-news/11144442/First-hint-of-life-after-death-in-biggest-ever-scientific-study.html
I read about Stephen Hawkings discussing copying our brain and into a robot to live forever. But lets say that happened right now, your brain was copied and put into a robot. Wouldn't your consciousness still be in this physical body and this robot would be as much of you as a twin or look alike, maybe even have every memory, but when you sleep at night or die, something looking like you might still be around but it still wouldn't be 'you'. Your consciousness would be dead.
The same concept with the 6th day. Even though it appeared by cloning those people were brought back to life, they really were not. It was a new life with copied memories. The life that died was dead.
If you died, but your brain was preserved and many years later implanted or reactivated, would it be you? What if information on the brain was moved to another, would you wake up or would it be a new life thinking it was you?
Curious on the thoughts of those on this forum.

There are scriptures that make Jehovah or the one who was dealing with Israel as a son or not the almighty.
