I'm afraid if I were going to play that game I'd throw up on the mic. I just couldn't get myself to say anything remotely sounding like support for the Gibbering Body!

Suggested comment to add when answering at the meetings
by stuckinarut2 ininspired by the humour in cappytan's thread, i thought of a way those who are still forced to attend meetings can have some fun.... especially with the increase in articles with topics about "listen, obey and be blessed", a subtle method of having fun would be to substitute the expression "the governing body" wherever "jehovah" "jesus" is said.. imagine an answer such as this:.
"yes, this paragraph helps us to see how vital it is to listen and obey the governing body".
"yes, our strict obedience to the governing body is a way to show how much we love them".

If all that atheists can add to the discussion is put downs and ad hominem jabbing insults then it doesn't bode well for defending their ideas.
This forum would be a much more helpful place for folks seeking a way out of the clutches of the WT if instead of ridiculing each other we concentrated on exposing the abuses of confidence and human rights the JW Organization inflicts on people.

Does anyone know the young Russian's name, who was helpful to Ray in running the web site and book orders?
He could provide some ideas about getting info for republishing CoC.

Raymond Franz and Ted Jaracz
by Hold Me-Thrill Me inmelita jaracz' life story (september 15, 2015 watchtower) said her husband ted jaracz died on wednesday, june 9, 2010. .
this was exactly one week after raymond franz died on wednesday, june 2, 2010. .
jaracz once helped to "kill" franz.

Jaracz and Henschel were two of a kind. Dispassionate pragmatists "Towering" over the lives and rights of others for the well-being of the WT Organization.

Really good point!
How I wish they'd come to see the Christian light, the truth, and the way for whom he really is, Jesus, rather than remain blinded by the Organization's "new light", "present truth" and wayward WT ways!

Are You "Technically" Still A Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus ineven if you don't regard yourself as a practicing jw, some may view you simply as inactive, a lost sheep, etc.. if you were baptized but not disfellowshipped or disassociated, you may still be a jw---right?
your thoughts please..

Still in due to family. Partaking at the memorials to the chagrin of hounding elders, since the WT article that proved Joe Rutherford's teachings were mere bullsh!t, about the doors to heaven being closed and the gathering of jonadabs.
Millions then living are now dead, very much so, like the drunk philandering wannabe judge and president of the WTS Rutherford.

A Whole New Watchtower Society (Governing Body 3.0 / Simplified Society)
by FusionTheism ina whole new watchtower society (governing body 3.0 / simplified society).
i'm not here to attack the governing body, watchtower society, or the jehovah's witnesses (jw) organization.
the bible says there is just "one hope" for christians (ephesians 4:4).

Way too long of post there FT.
One thing though, I think you're missing the mark about "leaders". You mention "leaders" a lot. If Jesus taught the disciples a repeated lesson throughout the gospels is that they should stop thinking as being above one another, that they were all equal and not anyone leader over others.
Jesus is the only leader and he's the one who's example should be followed, not that of any other man. If you're baptized as a Christian, you've devoted your life to serving Christ and imitating his example, you don't need anyone else to tell you what to do in service of Christ.
One serves whoever they follow. Among Christians we should all be brothers and sisters not one lording it over another. It's really all about serving and helping one another, elder ones should help as older brothers do to younger ones. They should lead by example not by letters to Bodies of Elders in each congregation that are kept secret from the rest of the congregation. Wouldn't you agree?

The real issue is long term solvency.
by joe134cd inok every one raves on at how miserable and tight wt is, while they are literally swimming in money and assets.
although this may be true this isn't the real issue or the problem to begin with.
the problem is having a long term survivable business plan.

So think before you open your mouth.
Wow. You obviously must have done some deep thinking before blabbing your mouth speculating nonsense like that.
The WT is bent on getting every penny it can so that it can keep getting bigger and more powerful, more controlling and domineering.
By long term solvency and survival maybe you meant sustainable. If you did, Perhaps you aren't aware that one of the first things a "sustainable" business would do is try to retain talent, creative people with critical skills who are the lifeblood of the company. The WT seems hell bent on foiling followers efforts to grow their talents with the anti-higher-ed mindset.
Their mission statement is murky, changeable with every effort made to remain tax exempt throughout its lucre loving past.
Their reports of hours and publishers are doctored up, changing the stipulation for publisher reporting hours so that the totals are increased year after year. But since their requirements changed one year cannot be "fairly" compared with another and percentage of increase published. This is quite dishonest.
Likewise dishonest is their misquoting "expert" scientists, Bible scholars and academics. On one hand they say the whole world is wicked and belongs to Satan, but they dare make use of this world's "experts" when the need suits them. Dishonesty will only drive more and more followers away from their organization as they become more aware of WT practices.
So in order to hide their practices they have to keep a tight lid on "shepherding" books, elder school's curriculum and letters to elder bodies which explicitly demands information be kept secret from the rank & file witnesses.
Their public credibility, confidence, takes a dive every time their secret guidelines and dirty dealings are exposed. Case in point, the UN NGO status fiasco. There is no commitment on their part to honesty in public relations. They bend the truth and sometimes give contradicting information as part of their "warfare strategy" against anyone who dares try to hold them accountable.
As a practice they do not contract with the best available providers of services, but depend on free volunteer labor. This has resulted in much waste in the past. They repeatedly prove to be penny wise and pound foolish.
Instead of reducing waste and resources they are gluttons for printing and distributing publications that few will make any use of. Their value doesn't last a decade because their teachings change so often and as a result older publications are useless.
So maybe you didn't mean "sustainable" when you mentioned solvency and survival. Maybe you meant that they'll try to squeeze every penny they can from followers, even kids' ice cream money, to stay "solvent" and they can ensure the "survival" of their status and power. If that is the case then it makes them that much more despicable to hide their business behind a religious tax-exempt front.
Either way you meant it, they're obviously greedy and dishonest.

Is 2034 the ultimate Watchtower date?
by cultswatter ina recent wacktower had hinted that the year 2034 would be the final date for armaggedon.
if armageddon has not arrived by 2035 then will the wts close shop for good or will they simply accuse the past presidents of apostacy and regroup to form another daughter of the tower offshoot baseless religion?.

I remember talks mentioning Newtons speculations said with the caveat that it was too late a prediction and with world conditions being so bad that the inside of the magazines said the end of this system would come during this 20th century and that was only a few years away.
Well the 20th century is come and gone. Newton's predictions included dates like 2034 and 2060. I wouldn't be surprised if they now pushed Newton dates as being a possibility of the end.
