hi everyone, i joined this site 9 years ago, posted a few times but decided i just didn't want anything to do with the jw's anymore including perusing exjw sites.
i felt that i just had to completely "detox" myself from this religion, not even talking about how much disgust i had for it.
it did a wonder of good.......but, i recently came across an article about the australian child abuse cases and started to see what was happening with that, which got me here again.

during yesterday's rc proceedings (wednesday 5th august 2015), one of the victim's lawyers questioned mr vincent toole, the jw organization's legal counsel for the australian branch office.
she asked him why at least two of the jw elders who gave evidence last week refused to swear on the bible.
mr toole appear puzzled by her question and said he did not know.
JWs who, even after reading it, forget it within 15 minutes.
I would be one of those. No matter what article or public talk it is it all seems so contrived and without heart that it is quickly forgotten.
I would also make an affirmation instead of swearing on the Bible.
For me it is a matter of conscience, if my word is not good enough then swearing on a Bible isn't going to make it any better or more truthful.
I think the lawyer was trying to see if by not swearing on the Bible the elders were trying to get away with a "fingers-crossed" testimony.
It was surprising that O'Brien was happy to swear on the Bible but was caught in giving his legal counsel wrong information as to Jackson's involvement as a decision and policy maker.
He likely feels that practicing "theocratic war" strategy absolves you from fully letting your yes be yes and no mean no, even if you swore on the Bible in front of other people and before his own God.
someone posted about this not long ago but i could not find it.. in deut.23:25-27 it talks about the girl being raped in the field, and no one is around to help her.
she is not to be put to death .. she did not sin.. the man is to be put to death.
how can he be put to death on her word alone ?
The problem is if you ate a Pharisee you like turning priciples into laws so that way you maintain control over the ignorant.
Well said.
(although I think you meant "are" and not "ate" : - )
There is also the counsel not to quickly believe allegations against an elder but to depend on the testimony of two or three people.
The JW religion uses a lot of Old Testament accounts applying them as guides. They seem to rely on OT accounts even more so than the Gospels or any NT accounts.
It's hard to see them as Christians instead of OT religionists.
first off, i don't think that dude is going to show face.
he's most likely on a plane already.
if he shows it's bad pr and if he doesn't show it's bad pr.
I just can't believe he'd have the gall to skip town.
He can refuse to appear, are there consequences for doing so? Can he be held in contempt?
If he doesn't show up after getting a summons then the monetary compensation for victims is going to soar just like it did when Loesch refused to appear when called. What's Lett going to say at their next "we're not passing the plate" donation drive, that we need more money because the Gobbering Body doesn't appear before secular courts?
I think he'll show up at the RC, I really want to see him answer the questions since he and the 6 others are supposedly God's Only Channel on Earth.
i actually started clapping at that point, as his honour explained to the wt type creep sycophantic slithery lawyer that........" i understand that we all have issues to face in life and .....that is a part of life...........however it has become obvious that this man ....is in such a position to assist with this investigation.....".
it boils down to the fact that stewart outright accused the latest witness of misleading the royal commission and this lead to some document searches which led his honour to conclude that they had been protecting mr jackson.
this was a warm and fluffy moment folks.................brilliant stuff!!!!!

governing body of jehovah's witnesses meet to consider replacement for recently retired member geoffrey jackson.. .
.
Quite often when there's a picture of the Gobbering Body for their meeting Sanderson is the one with the "tech". Have you noticed that?
I'm guessing Sanderson was brought on board for his new tech ideas, either that or once he was on board, started advocating new tech as a way out of their overlapping stagnation, either way, I've got a feeling he had much to do with the re-branding of the WT to JW.0rg.

IF the GB are mere figureheads as some have said, then perhaps indeed Jackson does not really know anything.
Maybe so Londo, but it would be excellent to see him on camera proving that is all he is, a figurehead front for the WT Corporation.
All the literature points to them as the source of all doctrine and direction, if that is so then let's hear him explain the reasoning behind using congregational guidelines for a culture that's 2000 years old.
If he doesn't know anything then the record will be there to show JW's what they're being taught is not founded on truth.
the two-finger-i'm-so-holy hand gesture is an old mannerism of catholic and orthodox hierarchs.
it's all over their catholic paintings and scultures, and greek orthodox icons of, jesus too.
................................... here then, the holy gesture is adapted for use even by our very own gb members who are trying to appear most holy themselves.. .
vincent tool said that he is exclusively working the phones for child abuse cases, but never said he is not the only one.
for now, let's assume the rate of abuse cases averages over time to the three or four cases he gets per month.
let's further assume that, since he isn't the only person working the phones and is on vacation at some point, the number is 4-5 per month, or 4.5 per month.
