Book Review: The Watchtower Society, Organizational Misbehavior
by johnny depp inthis is the way crisis of conscience should have been written.
finally, a book written on the watchtower society by someone who actually knows how to write!
after reading the subheading, “the psychology of jehovah’s witnesses,” (pages 160–182), i have abandoned the belief that we have an “unconscious,” and will never again consult any psychologist, psychiatrist, or counselor.

Witnesses killed my friend today.
by WasOnceBlind intoday has been a horrible day.
what began as a day of joy finding out that one of my lifelong friends had her baby, turned into a nightmare when her brother called me to let me know she had passed away after birth.
i was in shock and didn't ask how.

I'm so sorry to hear of this needless tragedy--my condolences and sympathy.
If the figures are correct and one in a thousand JW moms die giving birth that's eight thousand (8,000!) needless deaths they are responsible for.
These Governing Body Seven have blood on their hands by allowing these idiotic doctrines of Joseph Rutherford to be taught as God's requirements. May the weight of their error fall upon them!

These guys hate the Witnesses, cult against a cult.
by oppostate injust watched a video of a helicopter landing on the universal church's sao paolo's temple of solomon.
they loaded up several suitcases full of money, so heavy it was hard for a single guy to pick up.
they preach a form of prosperity worship.. one interesting point i found in wikipedia about the uckg (universal church of the kingrom of god) while learning about them is that they hate the jw's nwt bible and preach against it, calling the new king james bible "the best we've found", even better than the authorized version (the old king james bible).

Just watched a video of a helicopter landing on the Universal Church's Sao Paolo's Temple of Solomon. They loaded up several suitcases full of money, so heavy it was hard for a single guy to pick up. They preach a form of prosperity worship.
One interesting point I found in Wikipedia about the UCKG (Universal Church of the Kingrom of God) while learning about them is that they hate the JW's NWT Bible and preach against it, calling the New King James Bible "the best we've found", even better than the Authorized Version (the old King James Bible).
They're very cultish and have been banned in several countries. They've even been charged with murder for the death of a woman who gave everything she had so they'd heal her, but they encouraged her not to seek treatment only to be prayed over.
They've been accused oj extracting money from its "poor members for the benefit of its leaders". They make use of very strict tithing rules comparing not paying a tenth of everything you own and earn to the church as a form of adultery.
I also read that:
- The UCKG does not believe that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ is sufficient enough to work in the congregant's life today; it teaches that a member of the church has to make a "total and complete"[26] sacrifice of what they depend on to God through the church (for example, a month's pay, or savings) twice a year without telling anybody;[26] they commonly refer this as the "Campaign of Israel."[27][28]
They're very political and seek to establish a "theocratic government" in whatever country they get a fooothold by getting their higher ups to run for office and push for selfserving laws and political shennanigans that add to their Universal Church's influence.
I thought it interesting that here's an obvious cult preaching against another cult and their Bible translation, who enriches itself at the expense of the poorer ones through false promises and the dream of a "theocratic government". Same con, different conman.

Who is your favourite thinker?
by The Rebel inhaving recently read orwells 1984, i was impressed with how he understood that both politicians and people abuse language.
this further confirmed to me how the w.t had deceived me by using words to distort reality.
the book 1984, also contains many other great thoughts of george orwell.. of course there have been many other great thinkers, buddah, darwin, freud, einstein and marx come to mind.

My favorite thinker is Ivan ILLICH, author of "deschooling society" and many other books.

A cracking good JC! This is how it's done, folks.
by Island Man inin this jc the couple accused of apostasy, lay down some inconvenient and incontestable truths about the organization's teachings that leave the elders speechless - as far as them mustering any efforts to refute them.
oh and by the way, do you remember what geoffrey jackson said at the australian royal commission when he was asked about an inactive jw being called to account if the elders stopped by and find him celebrating the holiday?
don't worry if you've forgotten because the couple mentions it to the elders, you know, seeing as it's the very same reason why they're being accused of apostasy, thus proving geoffrey jackson's statements to be false!.

This jc put the elders in a situation where they obviously wanted more time to check upwards in the chain of command.
But without threatening legal action the elders are held to abide by wt policy or else be found to be negligent in their duty to keep the congregation clean.
I too feel that less doctrine talk and more legal action may have yielded different results, and avoided being branded as DFed apostates.

No Sports Cars Please!
by snugglebunny ini read on a jw forum that jw's came in for disapproval if they drove either sports cars or 2-door cars.
the reasoning was that a driver couldn't easily take fellow dubbies out preaching in such a vehicle.
was that ever official policy or just local nonsense from a grumpy po?.
-
oppostate
It most certainly is one of those unwritten JW religion rules.
If you didn't buy a 4-door car you were talked about in the congregation rumor mill and tagged as selfish and materialistic.
It was one of the things my first PO counseled me about: Get rid of my 2-door '73 Dodge Charger muscle car V8 and get a newer and more fuel efficient 4-door--He was quite approving when I traded it in for a Ford Escort.

What would you like to see the Watchtower Society implement that would give you a dignified way to leave/stop being a Jehovah's Witness?
by RULES & REGULATIONS injehovah's witnesses do not provide a dignified resignation process for members who wish to resign/quit being a jehovah's witnesses.you are not given any good choices.
you can either: disassociate yourself, fade, become inactive or move to another city/state/country where you won't be bothered or found out.. if you quit your job/employment, stop attending a book club or bowling league,or quit a lawn service company, newspaper delivery service, you wouldn't see your employer or friends sending out a written notice to anyone to stop all association with you or have little contact.you would sue them for slander.you have a right to quit any association or contract (when it expires or doesn't meet the terms any longer) whenever you wish.. what would you like to see the watchtower society implement that would give you a dignified way to leave/stop being a jehovah's witness?.

Here's a few of my ideas for change proposal.
The shunning practice makes them a cult more than any other doctrine.
They need to get rid of it.
The blood issue is another one. Makes the JW religion a definitely harmful cult.
They need to get rid of that also.
Stop misogynistic practices. It's the 21st century not the 11th.
The no-beards attitude--Get rid of that, and do it yesterday! It's over-the-top proof of their controlling and micro-managing people's lives.
Reporting time is abused by publishers and a form of abuse by elders.
Elders judge publishers by what number of hours and placements are reported--reports which at times have little relation to the actual hours spent in doing field service or to the amount of publications placed. Gotta get rid of that.
When they actually print a retraction on no-beards-policy, misogynistic practices, no-blood, and no shunning, that'll be the day, then we'd clearly see the end of the WT/JW 0rganization.

Chaos at Brooklyn Bethel 12/2016
by James Jack inthis was how it was described to me yesterday by a brother who has been there for some 40 years.
"everyone is about gone; the governing body is set to leave within 2 months; the kitchen and laundry personnel are gone and i have to fend for myself now.".
"also the aggravation of 4 to 5 business men in suits with clipboards daily checking out the watchtower properties.

I'm sure the GB 7 and their 30 helpers don't have to do their own laundry and fend for their own food.
