First time unwitnessing to a stranger
by C0ntr013r ini was sitting on a train, across from me was a middle-aged man reading: "knowledge that leads to everlasting life" .
it was in english which is not the native language here.
it was underlined so i figured he was either a foreign jw or a study.

Just the fact that you mustered the courage to speak up in a society where people don't have much to say to strangers is something that probably made a lasting memory on him.
During his next study he'll bring up the issue about the Deity of Christ most definitely, although like you said, it may leave him open to being led through the usual WT reasoning and step by step indoctrination. I guess it's up to him to think about what you shared, and how important his current belief is to him.
Hindsight being 20/20, it may have been easier to share a web address like jwfacts.com in the short time you had to chat, since I'm sure the Witnesses will want him to go to their JW.0rg (and having a place online to contrast the information he gets from the JW's is an excellent resource oppossers to the WT can use easily and effectively : - )

Why did you choose Jehovahs Witnesses?
by vinman ini'm wondering why ones on this forum initially became jw's.
if you were born in, why did you make it "your own"?
if you became one later, what was your draw and driving force?

I was about ten when my mother and grandmother studied the "Truth" book and I sat in on some studies when I'd rather be outside playing soccer.
As I grew older I fell for the lie that there was a spiritual paradise to be had if you associated with JWs and went to meetings. I sat on the fence for quite a while and even studied and made the meetings while going to college.
I got interested in a sister and she in me, but I'd have to be baptized and regular, reaching out, the whole works. So I got baptized and tried to be a good example of a good do-bee Witness. Once baptized we dated, with chaperons of course, and we got hitched some months later.
We celebrated our silver anniversary a couple of years back. But for a while I was wondering if we'd make it to our 25th anniversary due to my waking up and my wife hunkering down even more on being loyal to the WT.
If I was to say there was one thing that got me into the JW religion I'd say it was hormones, and I'd qualify that with WT's teachings and decrees that I put faith in and allowed to rule my body and mind--and my hormones.

The Road To Paradise Is Paved In Stupidity

(1 John 5:20) 20 But we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us intellectual capacity that we may gain the knowledge of the true one.
@Blondie
The RNWT by the GB 2.0 has been edited to read "insight" instead of "intellectual capacity". It seems quite telling that they're doing away with JW's "intellectual capacity", doesn't it? What is only of value now is the "insight" dished out in the publications.

Everybody loves Raymond
by Saintbertholdt ina while ago the user vinman started a forum thread called: "ray franz was an idiot".
the reaction to it was quite negative but i have to admit that the title of that thread was intriguing to me.
by nature i am an iconoclast.
-

So I guess I want to peg him down a notch or two. Franz wanted to rule the world like everybody else, and he had personal selfish motivations. His supposed pure altruism was pure horse manure.
Out of the [pure] abundance of his heart St.B. speaks.

Where have all the spiritual men gone?

The mic handling white tee-shirted young sister is definitely cute. I wouldn't mind such easy on the eyes mic handling crews to brighten up the ol' Kingdom Hall! -

Is it really that great being one of the Governing Body Members?
by John Aquila inmovie stars travel to, or buy their own private beaches, they get invited to fun parties, and are able to buy not one, but several fast sport cars like jay leno.
they can buy their own planes and helicopters and fly them like harrison ford.
(how much fun would that be?

Didn't someone say once "it's good to be the king"?
The GB live WT King lives, they get the admiration and the respect, the treatment and the perks of being a WT personality.
If we judge by the past, CT Russell and Joe Rutherford were guilty of indiscretions with young gals. The Judge for four days Rutherford had a liking for expensive Scotch and other spirits. Then there is Greenlees and Chitty's fondness for young male bodies.
I think the GB gets away with a lot that a R&F witness wouldn't dare get involved in.

"Be Generous" caleb cartoon
by EndofMysteries inanybody see the new cartoon?
the girl has a quarter and is going to get an ice cream but then puts it in the contribution box instead.
the gb want to make sure they guilt and suck the kids meager allowances dry as well and prep them as they grow up to keep giving!
-

It would have been much better if they'd shown her wanting to buy an ice cream and then seeing another child without one and buying the other child an ice cream and watching the pleasure on the other child's face, More realistic and in my opinion a lot more effective in teaching a child about generosity.
@Tornapart
that's an excellent lesson that could help children see the meaning of compassion and caring, thanks for your very nice and wise idea.
On the other hand, the WT's lesson leaves one with a bad taste. To deny a child a moment of happiness for the greedy profit of an organization is immoral. Shame on the WT and their whole hierarchy!

"Apostate" is anything or anyone who stands in opposition to anything currently taught as Truth(c) by the WT hierarchy. Christendom is "apostate", so is any news source daring to publish any news negative of the WT/JW 0rganization.
