Murder in the Cathedral (Chess at Barnes & Noble)

i sat with my board and pieces like a new orleans hooker in a window with a red light, displaying my wanton intentions--eager for action.. last evening in barnes & noble.tuesdays the chess club meets there.. i arrived with my infamous black bag of pawns and rooks and other deadly concealed weapons of regicide--an old warrior in a strange land.. presently, a mother and her son stepped forward.

he was about 12.____mother: “oh, sir--my son has become obsessed with the game of chess and i thought if hecould play some real games with experienced players he might enjoy that.

would it be okay if kevin played a game with you?”.

Very visual and engaging story, Terry. As a chess player myself, I followed every move in the fun of the competition as I read it. Thank for your recount of the story and sharing it with us.

References to YHWH in ancient documents

2017 provides an image that shows hebrew writing with the statement: “the personal name of god written in ancient hebrew characters appears abundantly in early manuscripts of the bible”.. alongside that image, the awake!

provides a listing to show “the rendering of ‘god’s name’ in various languages”.. the facts do not support either assertion that the watchtower society makes:.

The form Yahwoh is as much of an assumption as other proposed pronunciations.

The form Yahweh is how Latin would pronounce IOVE or the Roman name for Jupiter (Deus Pater, God Father). And btw the Latin form for Joshua/Jehoshua is IOSUE. (Notice the Hebrew ending AH changing to E in both).

The form Jehovah in some of our Bibles is an Anglicization of YHWH as is Judah/Jehudah for YHWDH. (Take off the D in there and what are you left with? YHWH Jehuah).

New Letter: Announcements and Reminders

i know they are trying to simplify but it all is such a confusing mess.... forms, dates, calculators, committees, logins, publisher record cards.....jesus would barf.

to all bodies of elders re: announcements and reminders dear brothers: in an effort to reduce the number of letters sent to all bodies of elders and congregations, most announcements from the branch office will now be conveyed to congregations by means of the announcements and reminders (s-147) form.

It does matter to elders and makes them feel so special to be getting these announcements and reminders.

It means momma WT is keeping them in mind.

When I first read the song title I thought it said

"A Place That Will Bring You Paradise"

And said out loud "oh, noooooo!" Good grief!

I had to rub my eyes and read it again, it reads "Praise".

But they're actually bringing "praise" to themselves.
