When was the last time the WT/GB actually ASKED for ANYONE'S opinion?
I can recall nonesuch.
governing body represents who?.
today i uploaded a new article to my blog examining the veracity of watchtowers claim to represent all the anointed ones on earth.
there is gigantic absurdity that to this day watchtower leaves unexplained, except to contradict itself.

You're absolutely right. They "represent" the "anointed" because they PRESUME... I say again, PRESUME to speak for them.
But they have absolutely ZERO clue(s) as to how or what the average anointed thinks or feels about ANYTHING... because they don't care, won't ask, and, in the event that some actually VOICE their opinion, refuse to listen.
there is a better way to see things clearly.
because those men spoke in the past.. we can change our position because we are in their future!.
apostacy is a changing of one's position.
Here's some clarity for you Terry:
When the Watchtower apostasizes (apostatizes?) from its own teachings, it's called "New Light".
When YOU apostasize from the Watchtower's teachings, it's called "blasphemy".
Capiche, paisano? ;)
i am new to the forum, but i am suprised to see people that claim to be anointed.
it really frustrates me.
why would god visit you and bless you in a religion you now recognise as false.
I think you're making a mistake in assuming that all (or even MOST) of the "anointed" are totally copacetic with the organization as of late.
i am an atheist.
i arrived at this juncture in my life despite not wanting to.
when i first met the witnesses at 22 i was a seeker looking for answers to the question of life - in other words, prime cult target material.
Nick's got a lot of us beat in the lack of condescension department - believers, unbelievers, or otherwise.
by no means a new topic for discussion but always worth a fresh airing .
i'd suggest that the 1st century was quite a well documented time.
we have lots of historical evidence for important people who actually existed.
And yet, in spite of it all, Jesus Christ remains one of the most compelling personages in all of human history. No less a genius than Albert Einstein declared the "luminous figure of the Nazarene" as far too compelling a character to have been a work of fiction.
But... could he have been? Was it all a falsehood? Or has some myth been grafted onto a historical but "ordinary" man?
Or is it possible that somehow it was actually true?
I don't know. To be honest, I think there may be a deeper mystery at work here, one that may be diminished by a relentless pursuit of cold hard facts that may not even be attainable. Does a film critic who deconstructs "Citizen Kane" shot-by-shot enhance one's appreciation for the "greatest film ever made" or reduce it to an academic exercise? I guess it depends on the individual.
the first summer a$$embly finishes this weekend.. tell tell!.
who are the toes.
the verrucas and fungus?.
Well, if it was straight from the horse's ass, er, mouth, (i.e. a GB member), then there can't be much to contest, right?

"Pragmatic agnosticism" is a pretty fair description of where I'm at now, though I tend towards belief based simply on personal experience/intuition rather than direct evidence. At one point in my life I think it would have been pretty accurate to have been labeled as an atheist, but for me, the realization that the WT had, as you said, "played a hand in closing the door" was the hand that cracked it back open, if just a bit.

Or this is all just a big joke... a game being played by whoever's pulling the strings at Bethel, having a grand old time and just laughing their asses off. It seems more and more like that, don't you think?

Apparently so. As far as public invites go, this has to be their biggest bait-and-switch ever. I cannot possibly imagine anyone on the outside, after attending a convention on a whim after seeing the flyer (and isn't that the whole point of distributing them in the first place?) coming away from the session NOT feeling completely hornswoggled.
Is this what they're shooting for? I mean, seriously... what's the thinking behind this?
