Right, Farkel. By "successfully charged" I really meant "convicted."

Can WBTS be charged with crimes against humanity for those who die due to various doctrines, e.g. No Blood?
by african GB Member ini know they always play 'freedom of religion' card, but from a humanity point of view, would it be possible to put together some sort of a case against this org?.

If I'm not mistaken, Revelation almost didn't make the cut for the traditional 66-77 book canon.

Has any religious organization been successfully charged with Crimes Against Humanity?
Not that I know of.
BUT...
Class Action Lawsuits HAVE been successfully brought against religious organizations.
The WT has settled child abuse cases out of court, likely to the tune of millions. A slow bleed like this will eventually kill it as long as victims don't let up. I don't think the WT is anywhere near wealthy enough to survive onslaughts of lawsuits of this kind.

"Dubnesia": Have you had it?
by kurtbethel inthis has happened several times before, and just happened, so i am curious if it is a common affliction among jws.. there is two of them that told me of what a really great meeting they had, the co came and gave a wonderful talk about the end of the system.. me: "oh really, what were some of the points he made about it?".
dub1: "i can't tell you right off hand, but i know i came out of there feeling it was really a great talk.".
me: [to dub2] "certainly you can tell me some things about the talk.

"Looks good on paper. But what those stinky hippies do not realize is that showing compassion will get your ass kicked."
Fine. I shun you, infidel, and declare jihad.
"Stinky hippies?" This is WT-level ad hominem. Have you learned nothing from your experiences as a JW?

How is magisterium different from Governing Body?????
by Terry inlet me introduce you to a term used in the roman catholic church you may not be familiar with: governing body.
in the roman catholic church the word "magisterium" refers to the teaching authority of the church.
this authority is understood to be embodied in the episcopacy, which is the aggregation of the current bishops of the church, led by the bishop of rome (the pope), who has authority over the bishops, individually and as a body, as well as over each and every catholic directly.

Ther's a big difference between weakness and compassion, a lesson JWs always have to learn the hard way.

villabolo, the RCC did away with shunning just like all the other Dark Ages practices (i.e. stake-burning) because even it is capable of reform for the better to adjust with changing times. You don't honestly believe that lack of organizationally-enforced shunning is a sign of weakness, do you? Unless your definition of "excommunication" differs from that practiced by the WT.

Thoughts From A Jew
by shamus100 inhaving never really met or been friends with a jewish person, i must say that i was quite amused by his amusement of my little cult experience.
he is serving on a board to help fundraise for his synagogue, and i met many people there, including a lesbian sitting on the board.. gay people in a religion?
strange?.

Far and away the most moving religious experience I've had was at a Messianic Jewish fellowship. The gentleman who sang the worship song had passion that made 80's U2 seem cynical, shallow, and materialistic by comparison.

Whatever he meant, one word I'm convinced he DIDN'T mean is "overlap"...
