The WT should take a hint from Steely Dan and move to dissolve the corporation in a pool of margaritas ;-)

Overlapping generation segment on the new Circuit Assembly program
by traveb inso there i was at the circuit assembly sunday morning with my eyes glazed over as usual when all of a sudden, bam!
a demo with two brothers talking about the new overlapping generation teaching.
the reason it took me by surprise was because it occured during the second talk of the sunday morning symposium, "sanctify god's name by your speech".

CE,
Someone mentioned on the other thread, "They're f---ed and they know it."
It certainly is rapidly shaping up to appear that way more and more lately, no?

Well at least they're acknowledging it "changes every year"... So did they explain exactly HOW it becomes "crystal clear" after review? Like, say, I don't know, put an actual number of years to it?
Where is that audio clip of Splane's exposition of the overlap? Can somebody post it here and tell me how what he says becomes "crystal clear" upon repeated listening?
I would LOVE to hear some audio of this skit. I also understand that one of the recent dramas had one of the youngsters acknowledging "people say we're a cult" or something to that effect...
I have to say, this is a surprising turn of events. They're letting on that they realize the brotherhood is waking up.

Nov.15th WT - Quotes Dissing - Internet, Higher Education, Earning a Living
by flipper inas most of us here are aware the wt society is using the " kool-aid " , or witness only version as i call it - to indoctrinate and intimidate jw members through fear and guilt to avoid anything that takes their devotion and attention away from allegiance to the wt society's ambitions.
so the wt society is amping up it's control methods once again in various articles in this issue as well.. first off - notice this quote from page 14 , paragraph 16 , regarding how " dangerous " allegedly the internet is.
it states, " these desires ( of the world ) involve such things as promiscuity, prominence , and possessions.

You got it Flip. Maybe the GB would do well to stay away from JWs who have received "higher education" due to the demonic influence these folks might bring in. Like, let's say, the entire legal team that runs the frickin' show.

This sort of thing will be spun by the GB as proof of Satan persecuting them, of course. Matter of fact, they were probably already counting on it when they sent that horrendous issue to press.

Do you think Witnesses would drink the "Cool-Aid" if told to do so...like Jonestown?
by Witness 007 injonestown 1970's, jim jones brainwashed his 900 member cult into committing mass suicide by drinking cyanide cool-aid.
only three escaped.
{the smart ones} one man hid under a building....another escaped into the jungle while armed guards dragged another member to get injected by force.

Was it not "Jonestown" for those poor preeten-ish looking kids on that Awake cover?

Oct 15 WT life story of Fred Rusk beating children to attend church not a good idea?
by life is to short ini was just flipping through the oct 15 witness only wt about fred rusk as someone on this board had posted about it.. one point that really caught my attention was when fred was talking about being raised by his aunts and how they forced him to attend the baptists church.
he says in his own words "grandfather's older daughters managed the household.
although he was not a religious man, his daughters were strict southern baptists.

Right, better to attend a Kingdom Hall - where there's no childcare - and small children are expected to sit still with no toys or non-"theocratic" books to pacify them. Give me a break.

So who is going to do some kind of protest next Sunday?
by serenitynow! innext sunday is the discussion of the 7/15/2011 wt article about shunning.

Shunning Destroys Families? Well, duh! ;-) That's kinda the whole point. The more people leave Tha Org of their own accord, the worse Tha Org looks.
Damage control, nothing more, nothing less. Or just control, period. Or maybe both ;-P

I'm with OC on this one. Subtlety is the way to go if you really want to reach people IMHO. As always, I think the most effective way to combat bad WT policy is by showing Witnesses from WT literature itself that, in the WT's own words, said policy is bad. There was an article published by the WT - I think it may be on Marv Shilmer's site - that concluded that excommunication/shunning as practiced by other churches is pagan, unscriptural, and unchristian. Show them where they can look it up on their own WT Library CD-ROM. It's really, really hard for them to refute such proof mentally even if they try to do so verbally.
You don't need to use "apostate" material to prove them wrong. By their own words are they convicted. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Everything the Watchtower has ever said is contradicted by everything else the Watchtower has ever said. There are literally zero doctrines or policies they hold to that I've yet to come across that can't be quickly and easily dismantled using their own material. But you gotta do your homework! ;-)
