Geez, I play World of Warcraft... I guess this explains why I liked more than just the "missionary" position when making love. Man, I must be doomed to a fiery hell.... oh wait, there is no hell, only "the grave".

WT cautions against playing pac-man 1982 Awake
by EndofMysteries inwith bizarre names like pac-man, asteroids, space invaders, battlezone and donkey kong, video games have landed themselves not only in amusement arcades but also in corner drugstores, supermarkets, gas stations, fast-food parlors and nearly everywhere else that people congregate.
their beeps and booms and colorful lights have captured the fancy and imagination of a new generation of players to the point of obsession.. other than the obvious appeal to teenagers and its commercial success, the proliferation of arcade video games has triggered reactions ranging from strong parental protests to outright government bans.
in the philippines, president marcos officially banned the games and gave owners two weeks to destroy them.

Since JWs won't go to apostate boards, but they will read the newspaper...
by JimmyPage in... i've written a letter to a local paper.
i hope it will be printed.
it says nothing about jws, but it should get the light bulbs to go off in their heads.

Jimmy,
I must say... Kudos to you man! I was thinking of doing something similar in my area, and now you have just given me added motivation. I love the BITE model of cult behavior, because it spells it out in pretty simple language.
One thing I also thought of doing was dropping off a similar "literature" to the local laundromats, since that is where a handful of Watchtower and Awakes are normally "placed". Maybe the rank and file won't read the stuff there, but at least the potential borg candidates might have a second thought before joining up with such an organization. If I do that, it would be specifically geared towards the WTBT$.
Thank you for the inspiration.... its no wonder Led Zeppelin is my favorite band ever!

I have a friend I work with, he cracks me up like you wouldn't believe. His answer to any JW's that knock on his door is, "Will I get to pet the Tiger, like what you show in your literature? I really want to pet the tiger". LOL, the faithful and discreet slaves usually leave him alone after that.
Also, it should be noted, as has been done on many, many websites.... in the "new paradise on earth", it says that we will not require food to sustain us. So, why in hell are they gathering apples and such? Probably because they are BORED!

From a worldly, beer drinking, bad influence perspective, here is what I see:
The WTS stopped the Bible Study night at the KH, and incorporated it into the Theocratic Ministry night, only because of loss of profits from losses in the markets. Think about it, it happened right at the same time as the wall street crash. It was just a ploy to save money. My wife embraced this "sweeping change" like it was a major event in her life... I just about puked.
Now, they are telling the parents... HEY! YOU NEED TO PICK UP THE SLACK! LOL. Follow that up with what Aussie said, because he's damn right! The WTS just wants to be sure parents are vigilent in making sure their kids are indoctrinated and brainwashed from a ripe early age.
By the way, I wonder if our "Happy God" had a big Sh!t-eating grin on his face when he had Joshua go in and kill every man, woman, and CHILD so that HIS people could reclaim the promised land. He probably did sit back and eat his Happy Meal, and sucked down on Mountain Dew's new flavor "Spiritual Fuel" and just enjoyed the show. I wonder if this slaughter is one of the "spiritual gems from the bible" that the WTS is talking about?

Sex Issues
by XPeterX inmy sis has been studying for the past 4 months with a female jw and the same jw started whinning that she couldn't have sex with her hubby coz he's on medication, another female pioneer would tell her that she wanted to get laid but her other half is not horny or wouldn't satisfy her.isn't it wrong to talk about such things with a person who's just started associating with jws?.
p.s when my sister told me that, anger was what i felt.

When my wife got back into the JW's, she went from a sexual dynamo.... to a complete dud in bed, pretty much overnight. It actually made me sick to my stomach that the WTBT$ was there in bed with me at my most initmate time with my wife. UGH!!!

If someone is benefitting from being in a cult, should we leave them there?
by Confuzzled inif scientology has narcanon, and it has gotten people off drugs (although that 85% sucess rate they say they have is suspect), and becoming a jw sorta forces you into line, would it make sense to leave someone in if they were helping them?
if you knew somebody was a drunk, sex addict, drug addict, what have you, and they were studying, and it appeared that they were actually being helped (albeit by twisted means) would you leave them be?
like, if uncle jim was a fall down drunk that ran around on his wife, then someone introduced him to the wts, and it all stopped, would you still try and expose the cult even if they were actually helping and it was working?.

In my opinion, you are just trading one addiction for another. Just like alcoholism, drug addiction, etc., these cults destroy families, turn away friends, make you spend all your money on them, and make you a mindless zombie. So, no, I don't see becoming a "religaholic" any better than any other addiction.
Of course, I'm biased, the WTBT$ destroyed my family, and yes, I am very bitter.

Does anyone else feel like an alien?
by bluecanary inyou guys remember the show third rock from the sun?
if you don't, a group of aliens take on human bodies and pose as a family on earth.
they try to fit in but get things wrong and hilarity ensues.. yesterday my family celebrated easter.

If its any consolation, I always felt like an outsider at the "get-togethers" I attended with my wife and step-daughter, since I was the only non-JW attending. Same thing when going over to dinner at a "friend's" house. The talk was always about what happened in service, what convention/special day was coming up, who was a great speaker at sunday's meeting, etc..
Of course, there was always feeling like an alien in my own house. No birthdays, holidays, etc., even though technically I'm still a Lutheran. I didn't see the celebration part as a huge sacrifice though, since it was mainly about family getting together and having a good time. So, my advice is that if you don't focus on the "fluff" part of the holidays, and just enjoy your family's company, then you are on the right path. The fluff part, such as doing Easter Eggs, Christmas trees, etc., are just fun things to do together.

Did the WTS ever teach a dirty look from a fellow Christian could be discipline from Jehovah?
by besty inanswer - why yes of course they did!.
discipline may come from someone else.
it may come as a look, a frown, a word, a gesture, a verbal reproof.

Perhaps this is why my "wife" would always give me dirty looks every time I cracked open a beer ........
Honestly though, she was the queen of dirty looks. Of course when I would ask what was wrong, she would say "nothing". Perhaps just a womanly thing, but I think further enhanced by the WTBT$.
