Hotspur how exciting. Cantleave has always made an impression so I am not surprised you remember him. I think from posts that boyzone is nearby as seem to have had same CO. so I am starting to find more people locally.
fokyc it is great when you find new friends from the board it helps to make up for some of the loss and negativity we feel from the org.

it occurd to me (being relativly new to the internet) that the internet allows the world to unite under the blanket of freespeach.. the internet really has moved humanity forward, people of all races and nationalities, all religions and sexual prefrences have had the internet as a tool to change the thinking of people.. maybe the internet will be the one thing that keeps our blood being spilled by some fanatical government that seeks to divide our countries?.
on a smaller note a poster named "minimus" started a topic titled "does your life have meaning.
" it occurd to me that this board exsposes the watchtower organisation .people myself included have been freed because of the internet.
The society constantly tells us that the internet is bad because people hide what they are and try to trap people but although this may be true in some cases it is not always. What impresses me about a site such as this one is that people express varied points of view and give advice in an open forum. People can use their own faculties to judge the effectiveness of the different viewpoints without prejudice.
The internet offers opportunities to explore our hopes and fears whilst still retaining a degree of privacy and dignity. It also allows free access to information so that we can make rational judgements. It is self empowering and I love it.
these people just love instiling guilt on these poor souls.. .
at a recent circuit assembly a circuit overseer gave an awesome talk during the portion, 'giving attention to the needs of the circuit.
and with such a high pricetag, please don't let it be empty.
Great talk I am sure but not in line with recent doctrinal changes, perhaps CO is an apostate someone should take him aside and councel him. We are BELONGINGS people it is only GB that truly benefit from Ransom sacrifice.
The kingdom hall is the place to go to venerate the GB not Jehovah or Jesus so the chairs have nothing to do with the ransom sacrifice.

Were they living in a small hovel? Quite frankly if I sold my house I would expect to get more for it thsn the cost of air fare and hotel in Germany and my house is hardly a palace. I think that the sale of the house is a red herring but presented in the usual WT way. Also if these people really sold the house and it barely covered the cost of the trip to the assembly what happened after?
And whilst I am in full rant mode, if selling houses to get to assemblies is such a good thing why doesn't society sell some of it's property to help other brothers in Russia attend German assemblies, then they wouldn't be homeless.

I agree with Blondie. I always wondered why if the 144,000 were to be so united in heaven why none of the GB members were ever women? It never made sense to me.
As regards Elders and MS, why bother. It isn't going to get you anywhere in real life, you are under constant scrutiny from other elders who want your job. It is a thankless task. Not to mention the guilt that happens when you realise it was all a bunch of cack and you have helped ruin peoples lives by Dfing them.
People who want the position should never be appointed.
i've noticed on this forum the big regret of alot of people seems to be that they didn't go to collage or university.. speaking as someone whose done the whole shebang, i can tell you that while yes i learnt alot at collage, uni taught me very little at all.
in fact anything i learnt i taught myself by spending hours apon hours in the uni libary, which i could have done by just getting a day pass.. my degree has not helped me in my career, i already knew how to do what i do before going to uni.
i run my own business now but i am sure that if i ever went for an employee postion my years of experiance would count far more than the bit of paper i have proving i have a degree.. getting a degree is pretty much down to knowing how to work the academic system.
I think University can be a dissappointment to some but it is also an opportuinity. I do my degree on line and via distance learning and enjoy it immensely, I love learning new things and seeing what new opportunities are available. Some courses are less valuable then others but others are essential if you wish to move into specific fields.
I am sorry the experience wasn't what you wanted, I am just happy that when I came to study I had matured enough to know my own mind and have a clear idea of the direction I wanted to go. At least you were honest in your evaluation of your personal experience which is not an isolated one. Thank you for sharing an alternative point of view.

I think some would be relieved as they want out anyway but don't know how to leave without reprecussions. Those that are died in the wool cultists would go into panic mode. They would find a way to justify it all. These are the ones who would still cling to elements of the religon even with it gone probably seeing it all as a test from Satan.
I know many nice people in the org I would suggest counselling and tell them I'm waiting for them on the outside.
Just remember folks it might so easily have been one of us if we hadn't woken up already.
