Yes we did every so often. Sometimes we had a local needs on it too which left anyone not in the know totally perplexed. What is most disturbing is that we never thought it inappropriate for small children to be attending the meeting hearing some of this stuff.

Need help with how to respond to my husband
by doublelife inso i went though the whole 'generation' issue with my husband and i got him to admit that the "new light" does not make since.
but he just shrugged it off and said that the society has been wrong about other things so it's no a big deal.
the governing body are imperfect.

I know where your husband is coming from since that was me a few months back. Perhaps you need to approach it from a different angle. Get him thinking about other cults since this is neutral ground. I read up about the Mormons and how the early founders of the religion were self important and corrupt. The whole bit about plural marriage was total nonsence. I could clearly see that the policies of their faith were wrong. I said to my husband that I couldn't understand how such sincere people could follow people who were so obviously flawed. He said how much do you know about the early founders of your faith? If you really knew what they did you may feel differently about your beliefs.
It still took a while but I was more receptive. I would always fall back on the fact that the GB were imperfect men and never claimed to be inspired to they could make mistakes. Reading C of C was the final nail in the coffin.
It's small steps. See the historical flaws and gradually bring it up to date.

E-Watchman says you apostates will soon do an "evil work"
by yadda yadda 2 inhttp://e-watchman.com/.
"at this late hour millions of jehovahs witnesses have already been stumbled, including people once associated with jehovahs witnesses such as family or relatives of jehovahs witnesses, and there are those many millions who have partaken of a bible study with jehovahs witnesses but who did not commit to become jehovahs witnesses, who are now increasingly, often rabidly, hostile to the watchtower organization.
those legions of stumbled individuals, united through dozens of internet discussion boards and so-called "recovery" groups, are now unwittingly primed to do an evil work during the hour of darkness soon to engulf this wicked world.

So people finding support and comfort in a discussion board is evil work? But telling people the end is near to live restricted lives and put their lives at risk by refusing medical treatment is good work. What is sad is not that he said it but that he believes it.

Now That Their Crazy Overlap Doctrine is Out, They Can Promote More GB
by OnTheWayOut inthis overlap stuff is such heavy crap.
i wondered why they had so many changes in the last few years.
it might be because the old guard is in charge and there is a small governing body.

What about those millions who may or can never die. They're going to need some pretty spectacular genes to survive that long. It will be more like the 2 brothers from the 1920s who could afford cryogenisis will never die the rest are worm food.

So what's in it for the WTS?
by leec ini'm still just trying to understand ..... what is the real essence of why the leaders at the very core of this religion do what they do?
i assume they are all in the 144k, so i get that.
but i mean ... that can't be the entire motivation for all this misery.

Its a cult and cult dynamics mean that once in you begin to believe the lie and live the lie. You become so obsessed with gaining approval from the cult that rational thinking is suspended. You look at those at the top, they fall into hard liners who want to preserve the status quo and nice people who lack the ability to influence but stay at the top thinking they can make a difference. This is a high control group. Money and status is a draw after all you can't be much higher then prospective king with Jesus. They are treated like lords, live well and get to play with millions of peoples lives every day. Most people don't get that kind of power trip.
It's a world within a world each member conditioned over years of indoctrination with the added control element of DFing and shunning. People genuinely believe what they are taught and are kept busy with study, service, meeting attendance and literature so they are never doing enough and constantly are striving to do better. You become so focused to gaining approval within the group few people look around and take time to check what they are learning.
The best thing about being in a cult is that members will deny they are in one they cannot see it.

Two mounting proofs for Armageddon in 2034
by slimboyfat inas mentioned by narkissos a couple months ago, doubting bro yesterday, and no doubt others.
is this where they are headed?
i say "evidently" it is.

It is all madness. 1914 takes us back to 607 which is wrong so although the premise may be right the conclusion is wrong.
Every day Armageddon is further away.

From your post it would appear you have built a life outside the organisation and want to avoid being DF'd to give your mum a break. If they have no cards up their sleave then this seems pretty weak. Wide eyed innoncence may work. If you have a picture of Russells grave stone from a WT approved source then even better since elders can still be ignorant of history. Go back on the this is a huge misunderstanding, just seaking answers, prepared to wait on Jehovah yadda, yadda, yadda.
They may try to stop you living with your sister as a sign of repentance so be clear in your mind how far you are prepared to go.
I wish you luck will be thinking of you.

My Stuggling Life Story
by Coreash inbefore i begin " my struggling life story" names have been changed to protect there identity.it all started for me at the age of about 10 when myself and most of my mates used to bother with the girls down the road.we all used to play as young children did but it was after the girls had gone in where we would sit around and chat and as boys do, used to ask who fancied who etc etc.
well for me i wasn't that interested and thought nothing of it.
it was only when i started comprehensive school did i notice that i was slightly different to all my mates/friends.

Coreash, thank you for telling your personal story. You have had the courage to face up to your sexuality, you have two beautiful children, think of how special and wonderful your life can be if you can be yourself and embrace the new opportunities available to you.
Many people will suggest you get counselling and they are probably right. You are making some major changes in your life and making major readjustments. A professional can help you make sense of all this.
As has already been said, if you need to keep posting.

All this makes my head hurt. So someone claiming to be annointed but currently in their 50's or 60's who knew one of the annointed from the 1914 era is now part of the generation. If JWs are waiting for the generation to come to an end well so many who thought they wouldn't die must see their own mortality all of a sudden.
It is tragic all those who put off having children and lived simple lives of poverty must read paragraphs like these with a sinking feeling.
The generation has moved from my Grandparents generation to my parents and younger it is ridiculous.

I love Dave Allen so funny and so true. I was taught by Nuns and they were all psychos.
