  I really do not have much to add here. I just wanted to say that I liked XJWBill’s post and I respect Norm’s logic. The whole thing about Christianity being bad/good to me really boils down to the nature of mankind. Really acts of violence and bloodshed were common in all cultures even ones that did not have Christianity so I don’t see religion as being the cause, sometimes it was given as the reason but without Christianity another reason would have been created and you would have had just as much bloodshed.

  The reason for bloodshed usually is mankind’s desire for power, control, or just the desire to fight.

  Has anyone felt like leaving God altogether?

  i know that the answer is yes, but it would help me to hear your sentiments on this.

  .

  after you decided that the wbts, and thus jw's were not god's chosen earthly organization did you feel like you wanted to leave and forget god altogether?.

  The question is have I ever felt like leaving god altogether? Well the short answer is No.

  The long answer is that I have decided to leave religion altogether. Many people ask the question when leaving the organization ‘if Jehovah is not using the governing body what is he using’? My answer to that is the creator is using me to lead me on my own spiritual path. So in reality I don’t know if I could be defined as a Christian anymore however I do think that Jesus’ example is a valid one for leading a healthy life. Likewise I do not think of myself as a Hindu but Gandhi also left a sterling example of how a person should try to live.

  So in summation I believe that there is some creative process that has intelligence and that is God, I don’t think any religion on the face of the planet has the correct exact understanding of what that is. However I do believe many religious traditions hold myths that a valuable for gaining wisdom to lead a better life.

  A Day to Thank Yeru (at least Stateside)

  didn't want to let memorial day (u.s.)go by without using my newfound (renewed?

  ) freedom to thank the military personnel who have served to ensure various other freedoms that i enjoy living in this great democracy.. i know only of yeru on this board who is actually in the military, so wanted to single him out.

  if there are any others, please accept my gratitude.. my own father was a marine who fought in wwii and the korean conflict.. i have a cousin who was a career officer in the u.s. navy, and other members of my family who served in the navy or marines.

  when is your district assembly?

  i have my district assembly in on july 14-16 (may not be exact date but on that weekend) and i just recently went to the one in may on the 25-27. i was just wondering when everyone else's convention was and where.

  by the way i have mine at the comisky stadium.

  Door To Door

  my father a ms told me several months ago that jw's no longer do "regular door to door witnessing".

  he told me this as i said to him i cannot remember the last time i saw a jwitness at my door which was unusual.. has anyone any answers to this?.

  I have noticed them at my university; they set up a table about once a week in the free speech area.
  Provided below is a list of the people I have seen conversing with them:

  (1) Mentally ill transients
  (2) Drunk frat boys as part of a hazing ritual
  (I would rather be spanked)

  Also they do alot of mall witnessing now

  You know if a worldly person read this they would think we were joking, but that is really pretty much the way it is.

  What we did in our congregation, which was about 60% rural territory, is we developed a mental list of certain houses where no one was ever home (quite possibly uninhabited), especially at that prime not at home time of Monday thru Friday 9:30 to noon. For an easy day we would start our time at a not at home on one side of our territory then go do another not at home on the other side (about 12 miles) it was easy to chew up a lot of time bouncing from one side of the territory to the other.
