WT is a human rights violator according to the definition of state.gov and USA law - time for us to start putting pressure in lawmakers!
by EndofMysteries inreligious freedom taken from http://www.state.gov/j/drl/rls/irf/religiousfreedom/index.htm#wrapper.
quotingdirectly from the article...."it is the responsibility of governments to safeguard universal human rights and fundamental freedoms, including the right to life and the freedom of conscience, belief, practice, worship, and to explain and change ones faith.........people cannot enjoy religious freedom unless they have both the right to express their beliefs freely and change their religion without facing persecution, violence, or discrimination.... (ask yourself if the wt article i'm quoting next is allowing the freedom to change religion without discrimination and persecution.
so with that being said.....is the wt protecting religious freedom?

. I guarantee if all ex jw's started putting a lot of pressure in law makers and the right departments even if they can't change the shunning policy it could force WT to stop publishing those instructions of human rights violations.
This is absurd. Why in the world would you think that the government wants to be involved in religious disputes over a silly little cult. The government got their ass handed to them by scientology. They made a mess of the Koresh situation, a far more whacked out cult than the JWs.
Expecting the government to solve the JW problem is a pipe dream, get over it.

Why Do You No Longer Believe in God?

As far as why I choose to believe in the Christian God or the God of the Bible, is due to having witnessed, what many would consider coincidence but I would consider divine intervention. Yes, I can personally attest to prayers being answered just as asked.
So what about everyone else who doesn't get their prayer answered? Why are you so special? The Christian woman who got raped last week, and screamed out for God to save her? The 12 year old girl with the perverted stepdad that sneaks into her bedroom three times a week? The single mother who prays for enough food for her three children, but doesn't get an answer?
You were on the right road when you said coincidence. If God gets the credit for answering you, he also gets the blame for the other 98 percent of the time when he ignores prayers from people in worse circumstances.

Plea to Governing Body and those with influence!
by Truthexplorer inthis is a long shot to those with influence at bethel, particularly the governing body.
if you happen to be a lurker on this site.
please take into account the feelings of those who are affected or even hurting because of current teachings and policies emanating from watchtower.

They don't give a shit about you, you are expendable. Membership loss is built into the business model. The policies of the business are employed to keep the members captive for as long as possible.
Cutting off contributions is the only way those "in" can protest. Only until enough people inside decide that they've had enough and vote with their feet will the overlords consider any real changes.

Already been said, but which God?
If you are referring to Jesus/Christian God/YHWH, I'm not down with his methods. Jesus himself threatens to burn me forever if I don't follow him, not cool.

Never had a crazy JW-related dream until today
by onightdivine inin my dream a while ago, the wt had already started "encouraging" everyone to contribute 30. either it meant at least 30 hours of "preaching" or 30% tithe.
the next scene is when we all stood up for the opening song at the kh, and lo and behold - the opening lyrics went on like (this is vague but you'll understand the context anyway):.
what a privilege it is to serve the kingdom.

As a fully indoctrinated JW, I'd say most were a 4 or so. I would usually plop into the chair and veg. Sucked when I became an MS and an elder, they I had to fukkin pay attention a little more, or of course be ready to indoctrinate the troops for a spell.
Once you wake up, there is burning anger having to sit there. Then it just goes to level 0 until you make your escape forever.
All praise to the FSM for my FREEDOM from that garbage!

How Cultish are the JW's?
by xjwsrock infirst off, i certainly agree the jw's are a cult.
but i'm sensitive to black-and-white thinking now.. so, where do they rank on the scale?
think of a cultish religion scale from 0-10.. consider the likes of unitarian universalism vs baptist vs amish vs charles manson.. where do you think jw's fall on the scale?.

Jim Jones, David Koresh, Heavens Gate 10
FLDS 9.5
Scientology 9.0
JW 8.5
Mormons 7.5
I'd say its hard to get into the "super cult zone" unless you really get people isolated from the rest of society, but JWs do a damn good job of it.
