so here are my comments.

Always interesting to see how believers create their own Jesus. Throw out all the bad he said and keep all the good.
Personally the part where Jesus threatens me with eternal fire for not following him shows he's not all that loving. That's actually blackmail when you define it correctly.
no doubt all are familiar with the 2016 convention video movies being shown?.

I agree with the OP. It is a bad thing if you have a loved one in the cult and you are trying to extract them. Bigger picture though this is good for the long term demise of the cult. In the past there was just the written word. As disturbing as the literature is, when it comes to life it becomes even more disturbing and ridiculous. Which in turn moves more people to comment on it, more awareness overall about the cult, and less recruitment.
A really good example of this, a video I saw today:

for instance non-fiction hard copy printed books sales (including religion) made up a healthy 42% of their purchased books in 2015. in the same category, however, e-books made up only 6% of the sales.. kobo monitored its e-book sales and found that 60% of the electronic versions never even got opened.
They don't have a plan. Literally zero plan. They actually think there is a guy up there in heaven that is going to fix it all for them.
i'm wondering why believers remain members of this forum which is clearly hostile to believers.
as one member said, nonbelievers pounce on any semblance of belief like piranhas on prey.
as former jws we should have had our fill of judgmental know-it-alls, but here we are.

Real to who? You? That doesn't make it real to everyone. Its these assertions that drive us "animals" as you referred to us in your OP crazy. Just because you have an invisible sky friend doesn't make said sky friend "real".

I haven't heard of any ban on leaving old literature...how the hell else are they gonna get rid of all those back issues?
it's interesting to observe that in all aspects of life, leaders are accountable to those they lead.. politicians must fulfil their promises, or they are replaced from government.. business corporate leaders like ceos must perform, or they are replaced.. sports coaches and trainers must win, or they are replaced.. yet there are leaders who have often been wrong, have made serious ,mistakes and failed predictions that have impacted the lives of millions.. they have dictated decisions for the lives of millions, yet they can't even be questioned...even in a sincere or polite manner..
A 'normal' JW does not engage in blind obedience.
Please describe the so called normal JW. 90% would bleed out rather than take whole blood. That's blind obedience if I've ever seen it.
i know this is an old topic, but it came to mind again.... yes it is appropriate for people to dress neatly and respectfully for a dignified religious gathering, but why does it have to be a full suit with collared shirt and tie?.
why does it have to be a full dress or skirt and jacket?.
sure, we would find it distasteful for a person to arrive in swimwear or work overalls or other inappropriate attire, but why does it have to conform to strict standards?.
It just makes them look goofy at this point. There are very few professions now where full business attire is the standard.
A troop full of JWs walking around a neighborhood or hitting up McDonalds dressed like that is plain idiotic. They do more harm to themselves all in the name of trying to show off.
can anyone help me find geoffrey jacksons quote about people deciding to walk away from the religion and not facing sanctions, i need it to cope with some busybody elders.

This is very true. Its how cults set things up, there is no honorable way to leave. Because why in the world would you ever leave The Truth/God.
It takes time to accept that these are simply cult rules and you then decide what works for your circumstances. The great majority end up realizing freedom is much more of a prize than cult friends. When you are ready you will be able to leave without worrying or caring what these folks think of you.

It pains me to see the level of brainwashing among these folks...like you say how in the world does the punishment fit whatever his crime was? And these folks sit there and blather on about how merciful the desert god is...sickening.
