Probably their most absurd claim is that they were "chosen" in 1919 as the one true religion. Based on what?
Because they say so.
has anyone noticed that...no, no, i'm joking!
of course you all know what it's like to debate the r and f. you tell them about actual logical arguments that contradict the gb, and eventually all your "discussions" descend into a sort of "la,la,la, can't hear you!
i can't let those apostate ideas touch my ears!

okay, before you fly off the handle--i wrote a blog on how my research proves jw's are a cult (no, i haven't read the cult book yet).
somebody linked their own findings onto my site saying the opposite.
their evidence is erroneous and as i don't have time to point this out i thought i would let you all do it for me.. www.epages.wordpress.com.
Spade said: It's basically just a slang term for a religion someone doesn't like.
I'm sure the victims of Jonestown and the Jehovah's Witnesses (blood and organ transplant policy) would have a different opinion. Oh, wait, they are dead now so they can't talk.
i've read the term "bethel heavy" here and heard it once and a while when i was a jw.
as someone who has never even visited bethel, i was wondering if a few of you can fill me in on the details.. i know of course this is an unofficial title, but what is the main factor in reaching this status?
is it mainly given to those who head certain departments, or even work high up in certain departments?

Mainly given to those who are probably going to stay for life unless they are kicked out?
How do the "regular" bethelites view the "heavy"? More respect for them? Less?
Are the heavys just the best brown-nosers? Do they have any actual influence on the GB? Are partakers more likely to become a heavy?
All comments appreciated.
i would have to say that my favorite chapters are 'points of decision' and the 'aftermath' chapter.. what about yours?.
I like the chapter on how the GB operated (few scriptural discussions, 2/3rds vote, all about organization) can't remember the exact title/chapter. Isn't that the one where a few of the GB members wanted to change the start of the last days to 1957 because of the Sputnik launch? Once I saw that I knew these dudes were just grasping at straws and had zero direction from anyone upstairs.
........the last meeting i ever attended.
one whole, meeting free year, many more to come..
You must be just miserable...being away from the "happiest people on earth"
if you get a chance, read the latest daniel publication (about 11 years old ...) on page 59-60. whats happening in the middle east and north africa is a fulfillment of that prophecy.. love,.
mom.
so i dust off the ole cdrom and look it up and this is what it says:.
Tell her you looked up the info on the CD-Rom and found in fascinating, but that you are confused about one thing-
"Who is currently the King of the North?"

They are going to see what they want to see.
When you come back with "What about the failure of the 1975 prophecy" they scream at you can call you an apostate. But whenever something matches up with what one of their publications say, they scream "See! See! Time of the end!"
Even a broken clock is right twice a day. That is about the same success rate the WTBTS hits at.
a friend of mine is the tasting room manager at a local vineyard.
this weekend the vineyard hosted an anniversary party for a my-gosh-they-are-so-young-for-having-been-married-for-so-long couple.
while cleaning up after the party, the employees found numerous pieces of literature hidden in their magazine racks, and the 3-dvd set, "the bible - a book of fact & prophecy" hidden among their cds.
Yeah that is really weird about them leaving the DVD set. I mean doesn't the WT want like a "retail value" donation for that so somthing like $75 is what the publisher would have to pay/donate?
That would be AWESOME if they call them up and tell them to come get their literature. Talk about making them feel like FOOLS!
But I do bet they mark down a good 2 or 3 hours on their excel report for Jehovah.
lately, i have seen demonstrations and interviews on stage of guys who are bragging about how they incorporate dressing up in costume and reinacting bible accounts for their family worship night.. .
family worship evening: serious business.
this kind of bafoonary and other assorted silliness is encouraged to make family worship "fun and enjoyable".
Its all about indoctrination. It takes many forms. Sitting in mind numbing meetings year after year obviously isn't enought, as tons of teens bolt the religion the second they turn 18, and as we even see on this board they are mentally checking out before that.
So what better way to mold young "skulls full of mush" (sorry for the Rush reference) then by imitating Noah? I mean if you can build an ark, collect every species of animal, and preach to the entire known earth at the time, you shouldn't have a problem with dishing out magazines every Saturday.
Actually, you shoud be "doing more" than that. Get baptized (even though you are only 13 years old) get that regular pioneer application filled out (even though you haven't finished high school, you can always get your GED) and prepare for a lifetime of full time serve-us.
no, not the nfl, but what the uncultured call soccer.
today marks the tenth anniversary of the usa 2-0 victory over el tri (mexico) in columbus, oh.
prior to this match the usa was 7-27-8 against mexico.
