i remember a thread here somewhere where a letter to the body of elders was posted and elders were to read part of the letter asking who might have experience or training in video media, graphic design, etc.
then on a separate page not to be read to the congregation was for elders to make discreet inquiries as to any who might have legal knowledge, experience or expertise.. well, in view of all this new kafluffle about branch closures, building work suspended, bethel layoffs, etc., it really makes me wonder now just what the heck is going on.
has the gb been shafted by their own legal counsel or financial advisors?
I think the reason they want to know if there are lawyers among them is so they can send work to them at a hopefully much reduced rate.
The guy who represented WT in the Conti case lives and is licensed in Cali, who knows if he gives the WT a break on the hourly as his "gift" to that poor bastard Jehobo.
as i've mentioned from time to time, i'm a retired accountant.
i have tried many times to come up with some logical, sound business reason why the wtbs has made the big changes in its financial arrangements: taking the congregations savings, the monthly donations per congregation etc.
i finally came up with the answer.. the leadership of the watchtower society is batshit crazy.

after reading this newly leaked letter, something profoundly "hit" me.
myself, being born a "witness", and most of us here, who have learned their teachings for years, know of the "importance" the gb/wts always placed on the watchtower and awake magazines, themselves.. from the magazines inception, from back in probably the 1920's, or somewhere that far back, the wts claimed that the preaching work, and specifically the distribution of these magazines, were a sign of the times, and a fulfilment of bible prophecy in these last days.
they would compare the watchtower magazine to a "stinging scorpion", claiming those magazines fulfilled that verse in revelation.
I gave a roundabout insult to the magz to my pops a few months ago, it had to do with the flimsy size and the content therein, of course he didn't like that. I wonder what he will think once the new "undated every other month" magz come out.
so when a building project starts then it's a sign of jehovah's blessing.. i hope a few note the irony and ask what it means regarding jehovah's blessing when worldwide construction projects already underway are cancelled or postponed..

apparently, at bethel's morning worship this morning, it was announced that all worldwide wts construction is "suspended" for an indefinite time, except for the new world headquarters at warwick.. also, the "relocation" of remote translating teams is also suspended.. finally, there will be a "worldwide" reduction in bethel personnel.. all this came to me in a non-english language, and,as noted, 4th-hand.
so it is possible something may have been lost in translation and/or in the multiple steps between bethel morning worship & me.. but if true, it would be quite stunning.
Something doesn't add up, one hell of a mystery. These are same dudes that netted more than $500 million just over the past few years.

a good source just just told me that at morning worship today that the governing body announced that a total of 1600 bethelites will be let get go and not transferred to warwich when the last property is sold in brooklyn and all kingdom hall building projects are on hold for at least a year so that all the focus will be on the preaching work.
How many serve at NY bethel now, anybody know? 1600 seems like a lot!

No KH construction or renovations at all???
If that is the case, that is going to be a massive gunshot wound right into the foot.
They raid every local congo bank account, ask for a monthly KH build donation (never-ending, don't forget that), promise to take care of the properties in return, then DO NOTHING for years, or longer??
I don't give many JWs credit for adding 2+2, but something like this is really putting their future at risk. People are gonna actually start saying "WTF is going on here??"
