  as some of you may know london bethel is very close .

  to buying new land to house a new complex (45 acre site).

  it is not often that ibsa has kept a secret this long before.. any info appreciated.

  I have come across the value of land owned by the charity IBSA
  in London. £37,798,067.90 in their annual return 31st August 2000
  However according to their own accounts this valuation is from 1992 as in their own words.

  "Following the inception of FRS 15, the trustees have decided not to revalue freehold on the grounds of cost"

  The costs of this land must have doubled or even trebled in the last 9 years or so.

  And this figure doesn't include freehold and property owned by the other british charity Watchtower, Bible and Tract Society of Britain

  seems like moving will prove to be a real money spinner to me.

  i was recently carrying out an audit for our latest s.a.d.

  when i came across the travel expenses paid out to our guest speaker from the branch (john wynn).

  he was paid 255.00 about 85p a mile, "bit over the top".

  Interesting thought Oz

  However a new shiny bethel will always come higher up the p.l than some little Kingdom Hall in the back of beyond.

  Does any one care to hazard a guess how much the Mill Hill properties are worth to sell.
  Watchtower House, IBSA House, 12 tower blocks of luxurious apartments
  approx 26 luxury houses and the rest.

  Is there any info on assets in the Charities tax return?

  this was a post i made six months ago, some of you may have missed it.

  i have watched many responses from those within the organization that endeavor to defend the current watchtower policy toward pedophiles.

  the most common response seems to be that any accused child molester is reported to the watchtower legal department and then reported to local authorities with cooperation from the local elders.

  I do believe that changes of some sort are being planned for the end of this year.

  If those changes go far enough remain to be seen.

  If not then storm clouds will continue to roll over the "borg"

  "With regard to the re-imbursement of mileage, I believe that a benefit from this flows to the Branch Office accounts. Whose car was he driving? If it was a Bethel vehicle, there is a handy re-coupment there.

  It was a bethel car, interestingly he also received about a dozen sealed envelopes from different elders as well.

  perhaps applications for special privleges such as D.C talks and the like (simony)

  I wonder if such "application forms" are declared for tax purposes

  I agree that they do work hard,

  But £255.00 for a day trip seems excessive to me,

  Also I was just inquiring if the £2000.00 yearly travel expenses is a local idea or a international plan for all bethelites worldwide

  The critera for the 40 acre site was

  1. Close to motorways, ports and an airport
  2. also near a big enough city to swallow almost 500 bethelites.

  He was paid £255.00 about 85p a mile, "bit over the top"

  And I was also interested to learn that all UK bethelites can claim
  up to £2,000.00 per annum in travel expenses.

  Does anyone know if this applies to other branch offices?

  or is the UK Branch taking advantage of UK charity tax breaks?
