I came across this on You Tube a few weeks ago and was impressed as well. Very cool! If I ever went to Germany, I'd have to check it out.

For me, I love to watch American football....Go Broncos!
For participation, nothing compares to snowboarding.
And designs, I also have a kayak, which is great for the ocean....surf or to snorkel off of over reefs.
Cantleave, Olympic Beer Drinking also deserves a nod of recognition.

Did You Personally Know Any JWs That Were Sexually Molested By Other JWs?
by minimus ini knew of a handful (which is too many) that were molested by a jehovah's witness.
it was not typical in my experience.
what about you???.

Yes...My sister was molested by a young brother (15 at the time, this happened when she was 3 untill she was 6). He was our "babysitter" often. When things finally came to light, (early 1980's) the elders swept it under the rug and made sure my parents didn't report anything to the authorities. This was the direction the society gave them. Being good lil witness's, my parents went along with it. Needless to say, even tho this occured at an early age, my sister began to have major psyche problems starting around age 13. (Never got any counseling of professional help, of course, because all you really need is to just rely on Jehovah to fix you, if not now, then in new system.) What a load of bull.
Anyways, this fucker attended our hall until he was about 25 and got married. He was of a higher sort of rank and file. You know the kind....always close with the CO, became a servant and eventually an elder. Whenever the direction from the society came out a few years ago that said you couldn't serve if you had this sort of history, my parents talked to the congregation he was serving in and let them know about the situation. It was basically swept away again for a while, my parents had to get in contact with the original brothers who handled this and between all of them it eventually was taken seriously and he was deleted as an elder. Why my parents suddenly cared about it then is beyond me. I don't know how they lived with themselves to let something like that happen and not do anything about it.

Please help re:objections to Thanksgiving?
by M.J. inwhat are the standard jw objections to thanksgiving?
do they claim there is any kind of a scriptural basis for condemning it?
i plan on asking someone about this and i'm curious what types of reasoning they might try to throw at me.

First time poster here....Hi everybody.
Reasons not to celebrate Thanksgiving....
1. It's a "worldly" and "nationalistic" holiday. (Isn't football....Super Bowl Parties, etc. kinda worldly and nationalistic too tho?)
2. Those pagan worldly people are actually giving thanks to God and spending time with families...I know, how dare they.
Reasons when it is acceptable to celebrate Thanksgiving, but not really celebrate it:
If you or your family fall into any of these categories, feel free to celebrate but not really celebrate:
1. Turkeys are a great price. I mean, who could afford to pass up those savings in these hard economic times? You can save like 5 bucks by getting a turkey now. (Jehovah always finds a way to provide for his people, doesn't he?)
2. Your whole family has the holiday off. (This is likely the "only" chance we have to spend with our relatives, isnt't it?)
If either of these apply to you, and your conscience doesn't object, then by all means feel free. Just make sure that while you celebrate without really celebrating, you never forget to remind yourself and those celebrating with you how awful and pagan those people are who are actually celebrating.
