What it means is that they want you to equate love for Jehovah (WT Org) with love between a couple. Basically if someone slows down spiritually, that must mean there is a problem in the couples relationship. It's ridiculous but lots of JW women buy into it, thinking a successful marriage is a product of love for God.
take a ride with me back to 1987. picture yourself in your town, or city centre.
remember the clothes people wore, the hairstyles etc.... now imagine yourself doing your ministry out on the street, engaging with people, speaking with them, striking up conversations.
now, how would you feel, and what would you say, if you noticed two people appear nearby with a cart.
Actually in those days some bros and sisters would go to busy areas and just hold up the magazines waiting for people to pass by but the counsel was to try to talk to as many people as possible.
i realize that prayer is a really personal thing, but representing a group in prayer has become so full of cliche's that i just want to vomit sometimes.
co week almost every prayer has the phrase "special week of activity" in it.. then there's "please look after the sick and afflicted.".
not so much anymore, "please bless this food and the hands that prepared it.".
I hated when the brother giving the prayer would summarize his own talk, like we just heard this earlier can we get on with it?

Yes, they switched to coalition of nations because the idea that the UN is major player on the world scene is too ridiculous. I found it funny that by changing a linking verb from "of" to "and" you get a totally different group in a different time period. In both cases there is zero evidence to support their speculation, they don't even really know what the original fulfillment was supposed to have been. Yet, they presume to know the larger meaning, LOL
maybe you guys got on to this right away, but i've just noticed something about the remember the wife of lot video.. we all know the scene where the judgmental jw dad gives that disapproving look to the girl who has lesbian parents:.
this look actually appears again throughout the video - but on other jws.
in the scene where the new brother is out in service with the former co. look at the new brothers reaction to when a "worldly" person knows the former co from work:.
They are trying to be realistic, JWs are exactly like that in real life.

I'm sorry, but that is just hot breath. The fact is that all Jdubs don't act as if a great tribulation is around corner. This is the best indicator to see they don't really believe that garbage. Now i know they like to say it, because it makes them look spiritual in the hall, but they really don't believe it deep inside.
Yes, but they would never let you know that they don't believe it is right around the corner. I remember one time we went out to dinner with a couple, around the time of the housing crash here in the US. My wife and the sister were saying that it was a clear sign that the system was headed down. Well, the brother who wasn't very active downplayed it and said that it was a really good time to invest because the market would be going back up soon. Nobody liked that opinion because it wasn't spiritual, it's exactly what ended up happening though.

And all the people in the hall will point to this as evidence that the brothers now that something is going to happen soon. Then they'll get all excited because of Russia situation. Oh, and North Korea is probably the King of the North. Oh, and Trump is crazy. Somehow all of this will add up to the great tribulation.
had the misfortune of stopping by the "regional" convention yesterday.
i promised my daughter i would come to sunday afternoon so she wouldnt have to ride home with her mother.... holy crap it was weird!

The loyalty convention is still the weirdest thing the JWs have ever produced. The wife of lot video was their attempt to be a TV dramedy of course most of the humor felt forced and a lot of it relied on old stereotypes. Plus, they felt the need to throw in a scene about gay people in there for good measure. The loyalty convention though had the bunker videos, the Sergei videos, the disfellowshipping videos, the cult paradise videos, the dead son manipulation drama, and nonsensical videos about nature being better than man's inventions.
for me, i think it was just the right time as i was starting to wake up on other fronts as well (anyone who had went through these will know what i mean).
but it started when i was looking for what info goes on a publisher card, which led to me reading one person's story (ex bethelite) which was pretty crazy to an all-in jw but who trusts those apostates...?.
then i started watching videos on cults, as if my subconscious was trying to tell my concord mind something... when i saw a particular one about a young man in lds getting ready to start their 2 year preaching campaign, including a school, social activities etc, i realized that i couldn't tell the difference between the folks of this mormon cult and the jws (save for some religious differences) .
It was a lot of little things but I would say the turning point was the 2013 WT with the now infamous quote. I was doing the mics and I looked around at everybody and they were answering like it was normal. Then I was wondering just why the article was written to begin with, the biblical basis for the article was very shaky. It seemed to have been written for the sole purpose of introducing that quote. After that I began to read WT publications very differently.
