  conventions 2019?

  i s aw mention of conv for 2019 already planned.. i wonder what message my wife will return with from the 2018 convention..

  The 2019 theme is "Love Never Fails," I'm guessing most of it will be about how "there is no other place" with love like the JWs. Love motivates us to preach, love motivates us urge others "to return to Jehovah," reporting others to the the Elders is showing love for them, etc. The theme doesn't really matter it is always the same stuff.

  The bridge

  so my father, who is an active jehovah’s witness, told me yesterday of an experience currently doing its rounds amongst the witnesses in relation to cart witnessing.

  there is a bridge called ‘the bridge’ which is a well known place for people committing suicide.

  apparently the jws have been setting up there literature carts there for a while now and ever since they have there has been no more suicide attempts from the bridge.

  I can't imagine they let you put up a cart in San Francisco bridge.

  You certainly can walk all the way across or bike as well. It would be hard to commit suicide though, they have netting underneath the bridge that would catch you before you fell too far.

  what are you thoughts on this?.

  i find this alarming because jones was very outspoken and had great guests on discussing topics most other media outlets wouldn't go near.. the fact that many have restricted him access to their medium what does this say on our freedoms of speech?.

  Yes, they are private companies but it seems they got together and decided to take this action collectively in response to the desire of elected officials. This is different than if a company just decided to ban someone because they violated site policy.

  Remember the Wife of Lot

  for family worship last night, our family watched remember the wife of lot movie since it will be discussed in the meeting this week.

  there’s a few things i noticed that i didn’t think about last time i watched it.. first, the dad is very of course against his daughters going to college or even trying to find a good job.

  yet he does accounting, which is a very good job that almost always requires a college education.

  That video was so weird, not because of the content but how it was presented. Was it a sitcom? A dramedy? A film with a serious message? It was all over the place.

  How on earth would they know unless they're out in places where lap dancing is going on. I've never heard about it becoming more common

  Probably more reports about young people from Elders and COs, I believe it. I have even heard some girls bringing their BFs as a special treat. Still, wouldn't common sense tell you that this would be considered wrong by JW standards?

  A lot of his stuff is insane conspiracy theories but every once in awhile there is a nugget of truth in there. He does condemn people without much evidence, so that could be considered slander. I think the people who want to watch this kind of stuff already know about him and will look for his videos elsewhere.

  what is your opinion regarding sex before marriage, has your view been influenced since you left?

  in western society, you’ll probably find yourself ridiculed to be an 18 year old virgin so i am curious to hear opinions from here.

  Marriage is great and all but if you've only been with one partner it always leaves you with the feeling that the grass might be greener somewhere else. It's probably best to get some experience when you're young but be responsible about it.

  How the Borg could increase meeting attendance numbers

  i think that the 8 popes should allow the jdubs to count time driving to the meetings or even count their time being at the meetings.

  those who just listen over the phone can't count their time.. it would be a much better religious cult if the 8 self-licking ice cream popes would let their followers count their time for helping the elderly in the kingdumb haul with stopping by to have coffee, shopping, cleaning, cutting grass, etc.

  let them count time by visiting the friends in nursing homes, maybe even allow double the hours for the nursing home visits.. this probably ain't going to happen because the cart work is easier..

  Maybe they are try decrease meeting attendance, the majority of donations only come from a small percentage anyway.

  first, let's look at what counsel is published by the watchtower and required as proper behavior in the congregation.. *** g88 9/8 p. 20 should i tell on my friend?

  ***understandably, you may not feel you have the spiritual qualifications to readjust an erring friend.

  but would it not make sense to see to it that the matter is reported to someone who is qualified to help?

  You don't need to prove anything and I don't think that method works anyway. Just opening them up to the idea that not everything WT says is the truth and that it is okay to disagree on some matters is the first step.
