What is the org’s view on extraterrestrial life?

but just out of curiosity, what is the orgs view on extraterrestrial life?

the org certainly agrees that the universe is infinitely large.

I don't believe they have ever responded to any claims of bacterial life on other planets, they seem to ignore those as unimportant. Even though in reality it implies that life either arose in other areas of the universe through evolution or that God created bacteria on other planets. The latter option doesn't really make much sense. Why would God create bacteria on planets where no other life resides? What purpose could the bacteria serve?

They would adamantly deny the possibility of any intelligent life on other planets. The reason being that intelligent life on other planets would pretty much blow up the whole bible concept of humans being caught in an epic battle for the sovereignty of the universe.

last night we were invited to a get-together with quite a few heavies attendingelders and regular pioneers.

there was beer and later some music.

everyone got relaxed and let down their guard and starting talking all kinds of non-theocratic stuff that you only discuss after a few beers.

This story doesn't sound real to me, I can't imagine an Elder saying that JWs should get rid of DFing. To the main point though I think that they will always try to have meetings of some sort. Without those they would quickly lose control of the congregations and people would split off into little groups. It would also make it really easy to just fade out of the religion and stop donating. I could see live streaming of talks from Bethel though so there wouldn't be the need for as many public speakers. I can see the door to door work being replaced, perhaps with paid advertising online, then JWs would just have to follow up on any local leads and offer a study. Of course they would have to donate more for the advertising campaigns, maybe a special fund like the GAA and TOAA.

do you have any songs that you have listened and then thought that it also works from an apostate point of view?i have always liked this song, but one time realized that i was thinking how it sounds awfully familiar, if you think about those who have lost family/friends due to leaving.this song was originally made/written because one of the actors died in a car accident.

"Imitate Jehovah" CA Actually Didn't Have That Theme At All

just got back from "imitate jehovah" ca and noticed that the theme was never really used at all.

all the talks were about family, preaching and getting along with others in the hall.

they didn't once go over an account of how jehovah acted in the past and how we should imitate that action.

At ours six were baptized including two born in teenagers I know pretty well. Nice guys, making a big mistake though.

upon receiving it i saw that the average hours were pretty good, it had return visits and quite a few bible studies.

Jw_Rogue, was this done at an elders meeting or a general meeting with publishers there?

This was at an Elder/MS meeting, most publishers would probably be offended at the idea. The thing with this org is the higher you go the more craziness is revealed and expected to be accepted without any questions. I'm only an MS I can only imagine the crazy things Elders and Bethelites have to try to accept.

Yes, this was presented very seriously. I was just thinking, aren't bible studies supposed to be the most important thing? Or maybe they are afraid some brothers will lie and say that they are out in studies when in reality they just don't want to go out anymore? Because I've thought about doing that. LOL

At the latest CO visit something very strange happened. During the meeting with the Elders and Servants he passed out a copy of a hypothetical publisher card and asked us what we could learn from it. Upon receiving it I saw that the average hours were pretty good, it had return visits and quite a few bible studies. Not much to discern looks like a brother in good standing deserving of recommendation, right? Wrong, you see the brother didn't have many magazine placements and all his RVs could be attributed to his bible studies. What we could learn is that the brother wasn't visible in door to door and thus not a good example to the congregation. So I guess even if you go out and get tons of bible studies you still must make sure you're in door to door just for appearances. The CO then asked "Do you brothers find this unreasonable?" almost challenging someone to come out with an objection. Ridiculous.

November WT God's View Of War

did anybody else read this article and just think wth?.

sometimes god approves of war.. sometimes god doesn't approve of war.. when the israelites fought battles and won it was because god blessed them.. when they lost it was because god had not blessed them.. sometimes god fights for oppressed ones.. sometimes they must wait and have faith.. it is so clear that the bible contradicts itself on this issue and that the nation of israel had a totally different view of god than the early christians.

it is also clear that the nation of israel was highly superstitious and would attribute every battle's outcome to the whims of a higher power.

It is so clear that the bible contradicts itself on this issue and that the nation of Israel had a totally different view of God than the early Christians. It is also clear that the nation of Israel was highly superstitious and would attribute every battle's outcome to the whims of a higher power. The way the WT tries to work around these obvious facts is hilarious.

There is no special assembly day because all CAs are now only one day. Believe me I was there for all seven boring hours. At least the RC tried to use accounts from Jesus life although twisted to fit the message. At the CA they didn't even try to use any biblical passages to illustrate the theme. They just cherry picked scriptures to fit the agenda. The worst was a talk on using our resources wisely, which would be okay except it basically got turned into a "donate more" talk.
