Did any of us ever enjoy meetings?
by stephanie61092 inthis is a legitimate question.
did any of us ever find real joy in being at the meetings?
did any of us ever finish a meeting and think "i feel so enriched"?

Well, as a born in JW I can say that I did enjoy them as a kid and a teen. Mostly because I got to answer and look smart (even answered in my own words) and because all my friends were there. Also, the only girls I knew where there as well since i was home schooled. So really my whole life revolved around people I knew from the hall. Most of the talks though I found boring and didn't really enjoy studying for the WT. Every once in awhile there would be an entertaining or well given talk -

Is the WT’s Paradise Earth doctrine a delusion?
by deegee inthe wt’s teaching that humans will live forever on a paradise earth will necessitate that given that there will be no more death, then immortal humans will have to be relocated to other planets in order to prevent the earth from becoming overpopulated.. so how many habitable, earth-like planets are there?more and more habitable, earth-like planets would have to become available on a continuous, never-ending basis ad infinitum as mankind’s population grows given that there will be no more death.. the longevity/sustainability of life on these planets will be limited by the fact that the sun serving these planets will eventually die:https://shar.es/1cko6n.

so immortal humans will have to keep moving from planet to planet.

How many times is Paradise actually mentioned in the bible anyway? It's been shown that the book of revelation could be talking figuratively about a heavenly hope. The other scriptures JWs quote the most are from the book of Psalms. It could easily be argued that those refer to the nation of Israel, not to us thousands of years later. Then really this whole teaching relies on one scripture in the gospels where Jesus tells the criminal being executed "You will be with me in Paradise". If this is the hope of most of mankind then why is it not mentioned else where in the NT? -

How did you feel when they eliminated the Con. Book Study?
by Freeandclear inyears ago when i was "in" i loved the book study.
it was my favorite meeting by far.
mainly because it was a small group.

I was super shocked that they would eliminate a meeting but was quite happy about it. Getting dressed and driving to a meeting just for one hour seemed like such a chore. Never understood why it couldn't be more casual, we were in someone's house wearing a full suit and tie. It was funny to me that people who would never have missed the book study were now praising the "new arrangement". In reality they never liked the book study at all! -

Like Father, Like Son
by cofty inwhen faced with awkward questions about the morality of god many christians respond by distancing themselves from the old testament and focusing on "gentle jesus meek and mild" of the new testament.. for bible-believing christians this is intellectually dishonest.. according to christian dogma jesus was the god of abraham isaac and jacob.
the logos, the alpha and omega who is "the same yesterday, today, and forever.".
he claimed that "he that has seen me has seen the father" and that "i and the father are one".. in short, christians assert that jesus is almighty god from all eternity.. it therefore follows that jesus was the god who ordered the nation of israel to take slaves as inheritable possessions.

If there was a God, should the circumstances have been kinda like the JW's Paradise? Is that what I'm getting here?
No, you're missing the point altogether. Jesus as a reflection of the father is dishonest because Jehovah didn't act in same manner as Jesus did when on earth (according to the gospels). Jesus was in effect a revisionist explanation for the God of the old testament. The reason for this is that ancient Israel was a product of the times they lived in.Their God was a reflection of those times. Mankind created God, not the over way around.

The Watchtower Org will die.
by Freeandclear ini was just reading through some posts and had a startling realization.. the comment that sparked this went something like this: why oh why when i started into this in 1989 did i not research the history of the wtbts?

I don't think they are going anywhere for awhile, numbers may decrease but they will still be around. They may stop the printing presses but they will still be publishing to JW.org. Think about this they have survived false predictions about 1914, 1925, 1975, and the generation that will not pass away. Still the followers are there they are trapped. -

I don't get how they can complain about spanx.....they are undergarments that are worn to minimize flabby rolls of loose flesh. They looking up sister skirts these days?
He said spanx but it became clear later that he was talking about spandex gym clothing or yoga pants on women. That's just too sexy instead they should wear baggy shorts and an oversized hoody if they want to work out. LOL While some of the stuff he talked about could be considered immodest, isn't that supposed to be up to the conscience of the individual? By naming specific fashions he is making up his own rules when these are supposed to just be principles. He even had the nerve to say "some of you might not like what I have to say but everything I say will be backed up by our publications". So he is saying that he is going to back up what he says by using something that he directly had a part in writing. Shouldn't he be backing up his ideas with scriptures? LOL And with the attention of millions of JWs tied into this broadcast he decides to give a downer of a talk just to let everyone know that they aren't spiritual enough, this guy is in charge?

by JW_Rogue inso as some are probably aware the january study edition has two articles on the anointed.
one basically discouraging people from believing they are anointed and another about how ones should view partakers.
this photo is from the second article:.

This Website Was Mentioned By The Governing Body
by JW_Rogue inokay, so at the "imitate their faith" ca there was a special speaker from the gb.
and he started discussing psalms 1:1 and how we today could "sit in the seat of scoffers".
he then mentioned that many bros. and sisters criticize the org and think they are so smart by researching online.

I' m a bit puzzled by the angle taken in the OP, so please help clarify and/or answer if you can.
Contrary to the OP title, the unnamed GB member referred only to the internet and did not actually name this very website.
And from what he said, you deduced he was referring to this website? If you'd like the name of the GB member you can PM me but I don't want to put it out there as it could give too much info about myself (I know it's a bit paranoid). Yeah, the title is a little misleading but still an interesting topic nonetheless. Plus his description really did make me think of this site, where else do people discuss, criticize, and research the JW organization all in one place? Plus he mentioned that many thought they were intellectual by doing so. Sounds like a lot of the posters here (which is good thing).
