I don't want to be one of those mid-life crisis guys but I do think about those things a lot.

Look my life is not bad but sometimes I just think about all the normal things I missed out on. And no I'm not talking about Christmas and Birthday parties. I'm talking about your first kiss happening in your twenties instead of your teens. Only having one sexual partner your whole life. I'm talking about never having planned for college "because that's materialistic." I'm talking about after finally deciding to go to college turning down jobs because they involved military contractors or research, or even telling potential employers that you couldn't work certain hours because of meetings. And there is no way to really go back because the time has passed the opportunities aren't there anymore.

What "Rules" Did The Elders In Your KH Make?
by minimus insome congregations were known as liberal and others were considered very conservative.
back in the 1970s a nearby congregation made all speakers who gave public talks a white shirt to wear.
if a speaker came in wearing anything but white they were brought into the library and were given a white shirt!

What is behind your choice of forum user name?
by stuckinarut2 injust curious how we all think.. what prompted or influenced your choice of username for this forum?.
there are some really amazing names, and it would be great to hear the stories behind them.... mine was nothing fancy.
i just felt "stuck in a rut too" along with so many others.

I was once told that the Avatar movie was demonic because the word Avatar referred to a spirit being inhabiting a body. Even though the movie had nothing to do with spirit beings and the word Avatar has been used in other ways for gaming and the internet. LOL

Do WT Publications Make Us Feel Unworthy, Unlovable and Helpless?
by jp1692 init is my contention that the wtbts, (as do all high-control, authoritarian cults), deliberately cultivates dysfunctional beliefs among its members.
in particular, the most destructive of these beliefs are those that undermine one's feelings of self-worth.
for a research project i am doing, i am looking for direct quotes from wt publications that seem to be specifically designed to manipulate the readers into feeling: unworthy, unlovable, inadequate and/or helpless.

Fatherless Boys
by JW_Rogue inthe wt teaches that "fatherless boys" need special care and attention in the congregation.
however, as brought out at the rc their definition of "fatherless boys" includes boys that have actual fathers who maybe very well qualified to teach and raise their sons.
according to wt, if either of your parents aren't jws then you are a "fatherless boy.

JW_Rogue informs us, "According to WT, if either of your parents aren't JWs then you are a "fatherless boy."
This was the wording used at 2017 RC, metaphorically you're a "fatherless boy" they said and need extra care. It doesn't make any sense. What they really mean is that you may require more brainwashing than kids with two JW parents.

What's happening to the Seventh World Power?
by fulltimestudent inin the imagination of many christians (jws included) the biblical texts tell of each succeeding world power winning its position through the power of its armies, on the battlefield.
even the yhwh/jesus combo is imagined as winning in an enormously destructive battle.. the knorr/franz nomination for the world power no.7 - the anglo/american alliance certainly gained and still maintains its hegemony via its military power.
its battle fleets armed with the most destructive power in history patrol the world.

They will change the feet of clay to refer to a weaker coalition of nations that is dominating the world scene. However, the end will still be imminent, like always.
