New Cringe Worthy Music Video From July Broadcast
by JW_Rogue inthe song is supposedly about marveling at god's creation but instead includes over the top adoration of the elders, conventions, and family worship.
lol getting a brother who sounds like a wannabe josh groban only adds to the cheesiness.

The fact that they have inserted so many cult phrases into the lyrics is very troubling -

Jw mummies boys
by purrpurr ini've had the misfortune to encounter quite a few mummies boys in the cult.
men aged 20-40 who although in men's bodies think, act and behave like children.
their mother's had them tied to the apron strings tightly.

I think the cult doctrines are more likely to lead to young men who think they have a right to dominate their wives and women who are disempowered.
In theory this may be true but probably more for converts then born-ins. It is more likely that a born-in will try to please everyone, the organization, the family, and the wife.

Jehovah's Witnesses and the Picnic Extinction
by TerryWalstrom injehovah’s witnesses and the picnic extinction.
(“those were the days, my friend, we thought they’d never end…”).
it was another world back then; another time and another place.. you had to have been there to have any sense of it--as a young, impressionable jehovah’s witness under the watchtower presidency of nathan h. knorr--social gatherings (backyard bbq’s, swimming parties) among the ‘friends’ consisted of having a great time at a get together or a picnic.

I think nowadays oral sex is more of a "don't ask, don't tell" type of deal. Lots of people do it, they just don't talk about it.

Where else can I go???
by UNCONDITIONAL LOVE inthose are the words of my 2nd generation born in jw mother.
my grandfather died refusing blood.
i've since come to the realization that many jws have no other opportunities or options when it comes to leaving the cult.

Todays WT, study with worldy kids if you can
by purrpurr inaccording to today's wt, jws are now encouraged to start bible studys with worldy kids even if their parents dont want to join in.
the wt suggests that the study should take place with the parent present or with another mature jw present.. the wt suggests that studying with the kid may make the parent eventually want a study too.. ...
in what situation would any worldly parent allow some stranger from a werid cult to come jnto their house and convert their children?

... seriously?!! In what situation would any worldly parent allow some stranger from a werid cult to come jnto their house and convert their children? And what child would want that either? Have you ever heard of this happening? This does happen sometimes, especially with rebellious teens. The parents may think that some religious education will help straighten out their kid (even though they aren't religious). Or it could be that they are related to JWs, or were raised JW but never got baptized, or they could be inactive.

"Even if this wasn't the truth, I would still stay. This is the best life to live..."
by HereIgo ini was recently told this by a jw family member when trying to get through to them.
does this quote indicate that maybe such ones have considered that the jw's may not have the truth after all?
or is that just my wishful thinking?

The shunning practice needs to be tweaked for sure. However, in many instances, this type of treatment is absolutely necessary. I take it as a case by case scenario.
No, it's never really necessary especially between family members. JWs are grownups with their own minds if someone has done something truly reprehensible they can decide for themselves to not associate with that person. That is different from disfellowshipping which is forced upon the congregation.

Post Convention Euphoria
by Phoebe inthere is a plethora of convention photos on my instagram this morning.
(a lot of my jw friends have forgotten i'm on their followers list) .
smiling faces standing next to convention posters with comments like 'nope, i'm not giving up.

Most of this is fake, they are just trying to get some likes on facebook or expand their social network.

I had thought this before when I was younger. Probably because the organization makes out like everyone's lives on the outside are miserable. Especially young people, they are all addicts, sexual deviants, or just losers. Oh, and you'll definitely get some girl pregnant who really don't want to be with at all. It's only now that I'm older that I realize you can live a good clean life if that is what you want and not for religious reasons.

Before I left I said this in a WT answer
by Chook inthis when i believed, i said no one really believes armageddon is imminent because we would sell our possessions and preach the remaining short time , i said we all like a each way bet.
i was always a loose canon with the microphone.
i once said if bible was in movie form jws would be forbidden to watch..

Armageddon has always been 'imminent' but has never come, in almost 140 years of the JW religion. More than a few are well aware of that even if they won't say it out loud.
Older ones have been making many comments like this lately. Stating that they never thought they would graduate high school before the end or make it past the year 2000. Of course, they follow it up by saying that is why we must have faith in the resurrection.
