Only one real point per WT study...
by JW_Rogue inhas anyone else noticed that in the wt study articles the main point they want you to remember is always somewhere around paragraph 11-14?
it's like a formula.
intro and overview paragraphs 1-4. basic wt stuff 5-8 (not controversial).

In hypnosis we call this a "yes set". You get someone to agree with something minor, then get them to agree with another minor or ambiguous thing then they're more than likely to agree with the third because the brain likes consistency.
The WT are introducing a basic bible idea (yes), then another (yes) than a cult message (yes).Interesting point, they build people up by making them feel smart, then if they really want to keep that feeling they have to agree with WT on everything. It fails when you don't even believe the basic nonsense anymore.

More people would be there because, like the Catholics or any of the others, you can do whatever you want without repercussions. You could attend a public talk without the disgrace or shunning. You could feel good about yourself.
I really doubt this very much even if they took away shunning their core doctrines would still be judgmental and negative. Maybe some people would show up once a month, or go to the memorial for family. Overall, though, active zealous members would go way down. They would have to change everything to be a place casual church goers would enjoy.

Okay, here's the deal, at the age you're at girls don't generally like younger guys. Maybe, if you wait a few years but by that time she'll probably be married (that's just how JWs are). She probably just liked the attention when she was younger. I went through something similar in my teens not realizing that flirting doesn't always lead to anything. It didn't help that I was terrible at meeting girls and JW life doesn't lend itself to meeting people your own age. I would say forget about her and try to meet more girls at school closer to your age.

You'd probably have about 1 million active true believers and everybody else would eventually leave

I would like a sign that simply reads "What if it's not true?" in big red letters

I think COs just report directly to the branch now. No one I knew ever had any clue what DOs did anyway.

So What Drastic Money Change is Next?
by OnTheWayOut inokay, they cheapened the product by getting rid of hardcover books.
they reduced printing of mags.
they drastically reduced the number of pieces of printed paper that members would "place" in people's hands in various ways, the biggest one being that they put them on a cart and don't encourage people to take them.they cut d.o.

I think we'll definitely see the end of all printed materials except for field service magazines, bible teach books, and small tracts. Otherwise you better be using the app on your tablet. They will push the convenience of donating through recurring payments online but I doubt they'll force anyone, just apply guilt liberally like they always do. I think regional conventions will get smaller as they move to venues they can own and control. Which could backfire because part of the reason people donate at RCs is because they think it's expensive to rent the site.

A tribulation where people still work at clothing stores and machine shops, attend board meetings, go to school and movie theaters, use their cell phones, etc., is no tribulation at all.
I think they have been doing this kind of thing for awhile, when they chose to focus on one part they skip the details of what leads up to it. Only back when we studied the Revelation book did they really try to make sure the timeline made sense. Most people don't care anymore, another big message at the convention was "don't worry about the details of paradise, just make sure you get there," how very convenient.
