I guess less people are commenting now. Last week's whole WT study was dedicating to the issue of commenting. People were literally making comments about how to comment, it was very meta (not that most there would get that), Anyway the main reason that WT gave to explain away people's lack of commenting? Fear and shyness! Could it be that JWs just don't care about commenting anymore, realizing that it is not important at all? No. They are scared and shy, those are the only two explanations. LOL

Small Field Service Groups, Method of Control?
by JW_Rogue inokay, so our congregation announced that saturdays they would be switching to small fs groups.
i found that odd because our kh is central to the territory and easy for most to get to.
through talking with others i found out that this is a branch wide directive that has little to do with convenience for the bros and sisters.

Rogue, I also wondered if the powers that be think this could be an effective way for the elders to control a larger congregation (in areas where they've sold halls and combined congregations). In a large group it's harder to know what individuals are up to. Perhaps they think enforcing this small service group arrangement will help them continue to police the sheep (in the absence of any better idea).
I think so they really are emphasizing this not just as a FS arrangement but as a way to keep in touch with the Elders. The FS group overseer "is responsible" for his group. It extends the hierarchy of control down one more level but tries to make it seem like just a friendly FS arrangement.

This Is It...
by JW_Rogue injust finished watching the talk by tony morris on john cedars channel.
sounded to me that he was hedging his bets.
on the one hand he says "this is it" and out of the other he says prophecies are best understood after they are fulfilled.

Tony didn't seem very convinced himself. "We prayed about it and 2/3 of us concluded that Russia is king of the north. Then I was picked as the sucker to announce our collective conclusion. Did I mention we prayed about it?".
Exactly what I thought, seemed like he still had some reservations about the whole thing

Yes, it feels very forced and not really the natural way of doing things. Why not just go out with whoever you like or have a friendship with? Seems like that would be more enjoyable for everybody.

The whole KOTN thing is a charade when you break down what they actually said JWs are no closer to their supposed Armageddon then they were before. They are playing it both ways so they can easily change it at later date. It is a temporary revision for the few that still think bible prophecy is important.

Yes, it is a new directive or perhaps a return to the old way of doing things. Either way it is a branch wide directive which "we should obey whether it makes sense or not." They are also presenting it as a way to practice for the great tribulation where we may have to meet in family homes (what rubbish). It is clearly just a way to enforce more fear, guilt, and group pressure.

Watching Morris it is clear that he doesn't have what it takes to convince someone that the GB has deciphered that end time prophecies are coming true today. He almost seemed to be giving the talk knowing that most don't believe this stuff anymore.

Okay, so our congregation announced that Saturdays they would be switching to small FS groups. I found that odd because our KH is central to the territory and easy for most to get to. Through talking with others I found out that this is a branch wide directive that has little to do with convenience for the bros and sisters. Seems to me it is a way to break down large congregations into smaller more manageable groups so that the instant somebody is missing from FS or the meetings they will get pressure to return and be "encouraged." They must've found that with larger congregations it is easier for people to just stop showing up.

Just finished watching the talk by Tony Morris on John Cedars channel. Sounded to me that he was hedging his bets. On the one hand he says "This Is It" and out of the other he says prophecies are best understood after they are fulfilled. Even most JWs will subconsciously realize that when he says "This Is It" what he means is that "This is what we came up with to drum up some enthusiasm because people are leaving."

Be Honest in All Things - New video exposes a problem with honesty at Bethel/Construction
by George One Time inon tv.jw.org kenneth cook jr. discusses how important it is to be honest when applying for special assignemts.
he mentions health and viewing pornography.
those who viewed pornography during the last year should not apply.

Is pornography good? Really? Or is it a sleazy industry that takes advantage of vulnerable young women and prays on attitudes that help to feed human trafficking and abuse?
I think you're missing the point, they are micromanaging people and trying to control their sexual lives down to what they do with themselves which is really none of their business. If they want to warn people about the danger of pornography or how it can affect relationships that's fine by me. However, asking people directly on a form about their sex live is intrusive and over the top. Telling young people they can't have sex, masturbate, or watch porn is just unrealistic and setting people up to lie and live a double life.
