  true, there is no such title but its there unofficially for those one step to being a ministerial servant.

  Okay, lessee:

  From the 60s (mini-pioneer, term only used in S. California inspired by a charismatic Circus Overseer), thru the 70s (Vacation Pioneer, then Auxiliary Pioneer, then Temporary Pioneer if I have the order right), to the late 70s (Bethelite and therefor MS/Elder lite), then officially a MS for well over 10 years, including being loaned out for public squawks. Gave parts at the Forum and Dodger Stadium (major S. California venues for Circus and District Assemblies). And kinda knew it was a huge steaming pile of equine fecal matter very early on, but I was trying sooooo hard!

  its not that long sice a couple of men called , i thought i would have been made a "do not call" after all i told them !

  but two middle aged ladys called on me , and on the odd occasion i gave them chance to speak i found out they live in divided households , which they felt the "born ins" could not understand , i told them why i had moved areas , they asked where i was from and i said i would rather not say , i told them of my childs abuse by a ex min servant , they asked if it had been on the news recently , i said no but you may be thinking of the man in hull about 4 days ago who abused in the cong for around 40 years ,that was in the paper and possibly the news but there has been quite a few lately in our country alone so its hard to keep track .

  the lady immediatly brought up the catholic abuse story in the media at the moment to which i replied "but im talking about jehovahs witnesses ,love believe me its widespread in your relgion too aswell as the catholics .

  Well bully for you looloo! I think you exercised great restraint in your conversation as you've described it. I know when I was still going duh-to-DUH these kinds of interactions were quite disturbing as I knew on some level the stories had to be true. You did those ladies a favor in being honest with them but not bitter (at least it seemed so in your telling). My son was molested by the son of an elder, who had himself been molested by one of our Ministerial Serpents who was also a Regular Pioneer. We were threatened with expulsion if we reported it, and were subsequently "iced out" in the congregation by the elder whose son was the molester, as a pre-emptive strike I suppose. In a small town we felt it every day and round the clock. And yet we faithfully attended all the meetings, made rosy comments that were expected, did our dooring and tried to swallow our outrage, shock and pain. I can't even think of how my son interpreted our ongoing, albeit forced, association with these ASSHOLES. At any rate, it's ancient history by now, but you are certainly correct (IMHO) in your assertion that it is rampant in that organization and has been for a looooong time (back to Rutherford and others in fact).

  Old WT Literature

  i,ve got old bound wt,s awakes and other books and mags dating back to the early 50's, it's taking up quite a bit of space and i don't know what to do with it.

  i had thought of setting it alight but i'm not sure if it would burn, it would also be a waste of a perfectly good match.

  could anybody give me any ideas please..

  Well just my two cents but I found it very cleansing/healing to throw all of my literature in the trash. It was a good symbolic gesture and a huge load off my soul. I know the Babble and Trash Society has contradicted itself and represented a lot of outlandish stuff over the years, but the piles of literature were serving no purpose, and given my complete disillusionment with the whole thing it was the right thing to do for me. I couldn't in good conscience contribute any of it to any organization or individual that might read it and get sucked in as i was. This is just for me though, I certainly have no judgments about what anyone else decides to do with their leftovers.

  i know that what counts as swearing differs alot from region to region, amongst the words i heard used were "crap, bloody, shit, git, bastard, bitch" and the dubs who used these words would say that they didn't belive they were swear words at all!.

  And how! My favorite was a brother here in L.A. who gravely counseled the congregation to avoid saying 'worldly' things like T.G.I.F. The world waits for the weekend to party and get into trouble with overindulgences of every kind, he admonished. We however should rejoice over more lofty things, like the meetings. We should be saying things like "S.H.I.T." for "So Happy It's Thursday" (or Tuesday if you were a big fan of the book study). He was mortified later when his wife explained what he had said/spelled.

  Wherever he is he's still living that one down, and whenever I'm in polite company I still discreetly mutter "ugggh! I am so happy it's Thursday..."

  Well I doubt anyone's going to check this thread 4 years after the fact but the brother who studied with my mom and step-dad (still associated) was a man named Ben Homer. He is also famous for writing the song "Sentimental Journey" among others. He also wrote a fun song from the 30s-40s called "Shoot the Sherbert to me Herbert". He (Ben, not Herbert) was a very erudite man, having studied to be a Rabbi before dropping out and becoming a Witless. He was mortified when he got a call from an oldies station one day noting that his song title doesn't technically work, since the frozen dessert is actually spelled s-h-e-r-b-e-t (no second "r"). Ben was not fond of correction, he fumed a few days over that one! He died in the 80s sometime I believe and his wife Bernice "Danny" a few years later out in the San Fernando Valley.

  I'm only babbling on because no one is going to read this 4 years later, ha!

  "Is It Latter Than You Think" Article in Awake

  mary christmas - article in the awake i think it was 1969 or1968 there is a picture of two passenger jets flying into the world trade center buildings, now, what do you think of that.

  now, that was some thirty years in advance, and a little more than coincidence.

  Actually, as I recall, the "Is it Later Than you Think?" Awake was in a dark violet color and only had large swirls as the design. It may have had one of the infamous death and destruction drawings inside (didn't everything?) but there was no such cover art. This issue also came out in the late 60's, not 1975. Want proof? It was prominently displayed on the cover of a Maria Muldaur ("Midnight at the Oasis") album called "Pottery Pie" that is still being sold on Amazon.com (here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/Poterry-Pie-Geoff-Muldaur-Maria/dp/B0015FHIE0/ref=sr_1_40?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1259743630&sr=1-40). Did they maybe recycle the title in the 70s as a way of getting everyone to stay?

  p.s.: Just checked mariamuldaur.com and verified that "Pottery Pie" came out in 1968.
