You will love it.
If Hadriel would read it he could at least frame his objections more meaningfully.
your qualifications are way above mine so i'd love to hear more about the specifics of what you have researched and how that supports the existence of a deity.
k99, i am not really convinced that you're interested in my conclusions.

A Ha that is an excellent book by Nick Lane.
He is actively working on origin of life energetics in his lab at University College London and has had funding for the last few years. His latest book "The Vital Question" lays out the development of his ideas since he wrote "Oxygen" in I think it was 2002
"Power, Sex, Suicide - Mitochondria and the Meaning of Life" is really excellent too but his latest book updates some of it.

that doesn't automatically mean all the answers have been explained
Are you familiar with the term "straw man fallacy"?
If it was good enough to bug Chuck it's good enough for me
Darwin lived 150 years ago. Most of the progress in the origin of life has happened in the past 2 decades.
Until we solve this issue it is not possible to make any absolute statement.
Yes it is possible to say absolutely beyond all reasonable doubt that every living thing evolved from a common ancestor over millions of years. That fact is not in any way dependent on an explanation of the origin of life.
To know what the biochemical charge was (yes cofty scientists absolutely use this term)
Scientists use a lot of terms but if you want to know something you have to ask the question in a way that makes sense. You can't just throw some random sciencey words and phrases around and pretend you have said something.
I'm all ears on how the origin of life started. Happy to listen to anything anyone has to say. But alas no one has said much,
So you want somebody to explain abiogenesis in one post do you? I have a series of almost 40 threads on the evidence for evolution and I haven't scratched the surface yet.
I offered to discuss the evidence with you. All I asked was that you take 2 or 3 minutes to list a few bullet points setting out what you understand about the topic so far. From that starting point I can help you without wasting time on basics that you already know.
I offered to recommend some excellent books that will describe the latest progress but you have ignored my offer. You clearly have no genuine interest.
I will start a new thread on origin of life in the near future.
hi everyone to cut a long story short, ive been away from the meetings for over 10 years.
i recently reconnected with the congregation and started a study.
cant get my head around all the changes and jw broadcasting.
Hi ColinC welcome to the forum.
I recently reconnected with the congregation and started a study
Why did you do that?
Other changes you might have noticed include constant requests for money, endless child abuse cover-up scandals and a new emphasis on worshipping the governing body.
a number of public statements by the governing body indicate that they are experiencing financial difficulty and they have appealed to jws to donate more money.
public information on the financial situation of the watchtower society is limited.
but what does the information they do publish indicate about their situation?
Why did the cost of supporting special pioneers, missionaries and travelling overseers more than double in ten years?
Maybe that's how the GB hide their secret bonuses.

Sure on the paper. Whose the independent party assessing the validity and worth of these papers? You're writing one too right? May have to make some time to do it. Not something I'd write in an hour. - Hadriel
I didn't ask you to write a paper.
I asked you to very briefly list some bullet points so that I would understand what you think scientists are saying happened at the beginning of life. You claimed to have done extensive research of the topic. It should take about 3 minutes at the very most.
If you do that it will help me and others to understand where some of your words and phrases are coming from - they still make no sense in the way you are using them. I genuinely would like to have a conversation about this but I want to know where to start.
I think you might be talking about the energy requirements of the origin of life? Is it a question about thermodynamics? If so then that is a very good question but you have done a sterling job of avoiding it so far.
i haven`t seen much if anything on the rio olympic games on this forum , i can`t believe their is so little interest in such a sporting event that is televised world wide.. i don`t get to watch everything , but events i do like to see when i can are, track and field ,gymnastics ,swimming , diving ,and their are a few other sports i will watch when they are on , especially if an australian is involved.. how about you ?
whats your favourite sport to watch ?.
has the "drug" issue affected your view of the games ?
I don't understand why they'll move a sport from BBC One to Four, then Two, then back to One, etc
The major news programmes at 6, 9 and 10 pm on BBC One never get moved as a rule. Also the BBC2 Newsnight programme at 10:30. So the Olympic coverage gets switched during the news. In the UK you can also press the "Red Button" and select a menu of Olympic events that are being streamed simultaneously.

The BBC does an excellent job of covering sport.
No advert breaks ever!
i really felt for you sisters i mean i really did.
when you showed up at the sunday meeting and found out the subject of the talk was going to be -and i can't quite remember the exact wording- but something to the effect of marriage and headship, or honoring and obeying your husband, or something like that how many of you wanted to jump right back in your car and head home.
i mean 45 straight minutes of beating down you poor ladies and telling you that you are not worthy of making one decision, taking the lead in anything, don't question the man be obedient and keep quiet.
Well said TD.
Women are patronised in the cult but they have a much easier life than men do.

Hadriel I have a proposal for you.
If you are serious about your challenge write out a brief bullet-point list of what you think had to happen stage by stage for life to emerge from chemistry.
Don't copy-paste. You claim to have done a lot of research on this. Just list the steps and which ones you think is most difficult for science to explain.
