  disclaimer: my graduate degree is in business, not science so i'm writing as a layman in this field.

  yes, i know that someone is going to say that evolution does not encompass this topic and should be sectioned off under abiogenesis.

  i'm not trying to argue semantics here but it seems like a case of avoiding an uncomfortable subject.

  That's a good summary of Lane & Martin's ideas. Unfortunately the editor has used a picture of an acidic Black Smoker vent rather than an Alkaline vent. The two environments could not be more different.

  Can’t cope with being disfellowshipped…..Need some advice

  this site is great, i have been lurking for a while now.

  but i can’t get reinstated and have used some of the advice already given.. i was df’d many months ago and go to all the meetings and do all the preparation for the meetings, but the jc committee keep refusing me.

  tomorrow at the clam meeting i am puting yet another letter in and will be called for another dreadful jc meeting.. 1. what can i say to the elders to show that i am truly repentant?.

  Every exJW should focus of education, career, hobbies, family, friends, fun etc. Leave the big questions aside for long time until you are ready to come back to them much later.

  Church is the last thing any exJW needs.

  I don't hate imaginary things. I oppose people who try to foist their superstitions on other vulnerable people.

  Outside the cult there are many great people who won't judge you for not believing ridiculous things like they do.

  You could show a little tiny bit of respect for other people's beliefs occasionally - rebel

  I respect others too much to go along with their delusions.

  especially when they show up on the forum hurting

  would we not be the creators of life on Mars if we can do that?

  No. Why would we engineer new organisms when earth is teeming with millions of species already, many of whom thrive in the most extreme environments?

  would not that life no matter how simple be able to become self aware by Darwinist evolutionary theory?

  No. Bacteria and archaea have been on earth for 4 billion years. They show no signs of becoming self-aware

  
  

  he first astronaut to set foot on the planet will be highly evolved life, not microbes, so Darwin's theory is dead at this point.

  Christians believe there is only one god - the god and father of Jesus christ.

  Scientists are not gods by any sensible definition of the word.
