What brand of detector
I use a Garrett AT Pro. Almost all my finds have been in the top 6 inches of plough soil.
after a very quiet couple of hours detecting this afternoon i was chuffed to find this silver coin.. it is a groat of edward iii of england.
for a long time the only coin available was the silver penny.
if you wanted to spend half a penny or a quarter you literally cut it up.

Awesome! Are you keeping? selling? donating?
By law everything belongs to the landowner. Like all my finds this coin was about 200 yards from my house. It was only about 3 inches below the surface. Eventually they will on display in the "Big House". At the moment I have over 20 ancient silver coins on display in my bookcase.
they are 70 years behind wt assisted suicide by refusal of life saving blood..
Under the amendments to the country’s 2002 euthanasia law, a child of any age can be helped to die, but only under strict conditions. He or she must be terminally ill, close to death, and deemed to be suffering beyond any medical help. The child must be able to request euthanasia themselves and demonstrate they fully understand their choice. The request will then be assessed by teams of doctors, psychologists and other care-givers before a final decision is made with approval of the parents.

This is a Groat or "great penny" worth fourpence. It dates to between 1351 and 1361.
You might be able to make our "CIVITAS LONDON" on the reverse which tells us it was minted in London. The legend outside that on the reverse reads "POSVI DEUM ADIVTOREM MEUM" which means "I have made God my helper"
Nobody has seen this coin in 650 years.
in recent years significant progress has been made in solving the question of how life originated on our planet.. how do you think theists will respond when it finally happens?
as a former christian i know my reaction would have been something like "well that just goes to show that it takes intelligent life to make life", but for two reasons that defense doesn't work.. firstly it would prove that life is not an ethereal force that originates with god.
there is no 'ghost in the machine', no elan vital.
Copy-paste is so boring.

Well, my job is done in this topic. - John-Mann
If by your "job" you mean, make some evidence-free assertions and call others evil for being rational, then good job!

Dawkins gene hypothesis for the origin of life has the most evidence at the moment - Ruby
Dawkins has no such hypothesis. The origin of genetic material is part of the process that occurred in hydrothermal vents.
The soul can't be a problem to science because science is the quest for material properties and the soul is immaterial. But we can find material interactions with the soul. - John_mann
No you can't find material interactions with the soul. You just made that up. Whether or not the "soul" interacts with material objects is 100% a question for science.
The soul is a problem of philosophy.
You still have to show why the soul belongs to the world philosophy rather than the world of make-believe.
The soul have functions without organs
What would you evidence be for that?
Are you conflating "soul" with consciousness? You still have all your work to do to show there are no naturalistic explanations for Beethoven's 9th symphony before you get to posit supernatural ones.
Occam's Razor.

Vidqun - I will do a thread in the near future to describe an interesting hypothesis for the origin of life that gets over all the objections you have raised and more.
Briefly for now - it is likely that life emerged in hydrothermal alkaline vents under the ocean.

Rebel - Personally I also with my limited research believe direct evidence for the origin of life impossible.
Cofty - Don't you think you should thoroughly investigate the evidence before you declare something impossible?
Rebel - you sound like a bully who beats kids up at school
That is pathetic. It's the sort of comment that makes conversation almost impossible.
I will reply to other qs later.
