If you listen to his first interview with Sam Harris it will make you want to scream. It's almost as if he was trying to sabotage any chance of actual communication.
I do think he has some very interesting things to say about the cultural Marxism. His recent interview with Cathy Newman was astonishing.

I have learned more in the past 20 years than I did in the previous 30. That is why I reject creationism. The men and women who know most about the complexity of the natural world are the strongest advocates for evolution. These are the thousands of scientists - many of them christians - who know more about life than you or I ever will.
There is a very important difference between you and I Old Navy. I thoroughly understand both creationism and evolution. You have never learned even the most basic information about evolution. You are wilfully ignorant of the evidence. For that reason you have nothing to say about it.
Why are you still refusing to acknowledge that the vast majority of intelligent christians accept the fact of evolution. You never engage in conversation, you just keep repeating the same old platitudes. When are you going to pay anybody the respect of actually engaging with the subject?

Jordan seems to use the word 'truth' in a way that stretches the definition of the word to extremes.
He rightly sees the value in many of the biblical myths and the way they describe the human condition.
I'm not sure how that makes him a christian by any reasonable definition.

It is foolish to assert that we should not judge other cultures. We don't even have to judge them by our 'western' standards just judge them by their own self-declared aspirations.
Do people want good health and a reasonable level of prosperity? Do they want their children to have a decent education and the chance of rewarding employment? Do they want freedom from corrupt governments and an end to endless cycles of internecine conflict?
What other things would the people of any state like to enjoy? Add those to the list.
Okay, how well is Senegal or Congo or Somalia or Eritrea doing in achieving those goals that are the wishes of their own people - not the wishes that we 'westerners' might want for them.
Now how do those objectively measurable criteria compare with Western European countries and Scandanavia and North America and Australia and New Zealand?
Of course we can judge without any need to force our culture on anybody. By any sensible measure Africa is a total disaster, as is every Muslim majority country on earth.
'Western' post-enlightenment culture is BETTER.

No it doesn't presume anything.
Multiple related fields of science have proven beyond all doubt that all life evolved from a common ancestor. The vast majority of intelligent christians have no problem with this.

They talk about consciousness in relation to the earth, brains, tables, chairs, and all matter, from about 48 minutes in. "Rocks have persoanlities" is a particular synecdoche you are fond of using to mock pansychism in total - SBF
So a conscious table is a serious topic for conversation but rocks with personality is just mocking? Okay thanks I find it hard to keep up with what passes for philosophy and what is just buillshit. It's so hard to tell the difference.

I don't think the guy was out of order at all.
I have had exactly the same experience of a JW at a cart telling me he didn't care about child abuse in the organisation. Arseholes with that attitude desreve public shaming.

we were having this discussion in the office the other day and we came to the conclusion minimum wage is better because it still adds to the economy vs minimum income which someone could potentially stay at home and do nothing and still get paid without producing a thing for the greater economy.. thoughts?.
Minimum wage - as in minimum hourly rate - has been a positive thing in the UK. It has been supported by politicians of both sides and gradually increased over recent years.
Anything that rewards idleness is foolish.
so my cousin phoned and told me my jw sister was taken to hospital with chest pains and it may have been a slight heart attack or possibly she's starting with angina.
now as some of you know my sisters and brother have had little to do with me for 29 years.
we've met at funerals, or arranged them, but i just thought today what if she did die?
Don't over-think it. Of course express your best wishes that she recovers. Maybe one day you will get your sister back maybe not. Either way you win.
