  I'm making a simple observation that 4 or 5 intelligent posters (based on long knowledge of their posting history) are apparently misunderstanding your point. I'm suggesting you go back to square one and try to clarify.

  Jacobi - Lots of intelligent posters seem to have completely misunderstood your point. It can't be everybody else's fault can it?

  How about going back to your complaint that, 'terrorism perpetrated by Muslims .. in Canada recieving so much more attention and concern on this thread than terrorism perpetrated by right-wing terrorists' and present your point as clearly as possible. Bear in mind that your objection was answered very fully by more than one contributor.

  Jacobi - What do you think the difference is between the situation in Europe and that in Canada?

  Is it simply a matter that your proportion of immigrants from Muslim-majority countries is less than Sweden and Germany?

  If so don't you think Canadians are wise to be concerned that their leaders are determined not to repeat the mistakes of other countries?

  Jacobi I can't answer for Canadians but from my perspective in the UK you are attempting to create a false equivalence.

  Nobody wants to justify right-wing terrorism.

  Europe has seen an influx of tens of thousands of young men from Muslim-majority countries. In those countries personal freedoms are suppressed in the interests of theocracy. Women are oppressed to an appalling degree. If you are unaware of how bad things are for women in Muslim countries I suggest you read any of the three books written so far by Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

  Democracy is held in contempt in the lands where these immigrants are coming from. A significant percentage of those young immigrants bring their hatred of liberal western values with them. They have no interest in integration. They look for the day when our way of life will be eradicated here in the west in favour of their worldview. Conditions in parts of countries with the highest levels of immigration have deteriorated beyond recognition. Pedophile gangs are only the tip of the iceberg.

  A worrying number of Muslims travelled to Syria and Afghanistan to fight for ISIS. Their return to their homeland poses a threat of mass murder on our streets. Would you like me to list their recent 'successes'? Numerous plots are halted every year by our overworked security services.

  Some far-right activists have responded with violence. Their actions are despicable - unequivocally evil - but anybody who tries to equate the threat they pose with the threat coming from mass immigration from Muslim-majority countries does not understand the problem.

  I would recommend 'The Strange Death of Europe - Immigration, Identity, Islam' by Douglas Murray if it is a topic you would like to research further.

  Edited to add- FMF is right to point out that Islam is as far right as it would be possible to be.

  ambiguity is a clunky, uncomfortable word, imho.. .

  ambiguity means "open to more than one interpretation".

  Perry - That is a silly semantic trick. It's like that game where you choose a number, double it, add another number, multiply it by something else etc etc and the result is always the same. It's only impressive if you don't understand algebra.

  Your version depends on equivocation about the word 'absolute'.

  my name is jacobi, i am a born-in but mentally out for more or less a decade at this point (although it was cradual) and about 40yo.

  i don't want to say a lot about my family, but it is a mix of going-through-the-motions, semi-actives (but mentally in), some who have left for a few reasons and one really depressed pioneer.

  because people fade in and out i have managed to slide under the radar and i keep up apperances of not being all-out apostate but i completed my fade about years ago (it also helped i moved to another part of the country).. i might rub some of you the wrong way because of my views on different things like politics.. i am not a trump supporter at all and neither are most people in my country.
